Fascinating stuff, Julian, as always. I do like the newish modern flats which you aren't so keen on; I'm not so keen on the prices!!! Brunswick House looks beautiful; shame about the backdrop. Very interesting about the stretcher/railings. I don't remember that bridge being so colourful. I once lived not so far from there on Wandsworth Rd, I think it was. Very interesting about the Pleasure Gardens. I now know where the MI6 building is. I loved London for there always being something interesting to look at; so much to see & do, made all the more interesting by your fascinating commentary. Thanks again.

Donald was correct? The guy who never succeeded in any of his businesses? His father bailed him out when he was alive and any business Donald started himself went bankrupt. He bought the plaza hotel. Foreclosed and sold at a huge loss. Trump Airline, Trump Steak, Trump Magazine, Trump Casinos, all three of them. Bankrupt. Didn’t you see Trump with the Queen? He dressed like a monkey. BTW. Did you know Trump built only 40 miles of new wall between the U.S. and Mexico? Obama built 100 miles!

Some nerdy facts about Vauxhall : it was originally the Vauxhall Iron Works, based in Vauxhall obviously and then moved to Luton to expand capacity. Until recently, Vauxhall was part of General Motors and made badge engineered Opels (a German brand). Vauxhall and Opel were recently sold to Peugeot. In the USA, there wasn't a direct equivalent of Vauxhall although some of their models were sold as market orientated Chevrolets and Buicks.

Great stuff as usual! But you missed a trick, down in Vauxhall there was the old "Kennington Palace" built and occupied by the "Black Prince" , Edward prince of Wales (father of Richard II). I think there is a Black Prince pub around the corner from where the palace used to be and there are a few base remnants of it. There may even be a plaque of some sort ;)

At 9:05 you will see the Vauxhall Tavern pub, In 1970 I and a few work colleagues lodged there when working in London. At that time they used to have a big Drag scene using the huge bar as a stage for all the participants. All the staff were Gay but they made our stay there so welcome and one of the fondest memories of my working time in the UK.

Hi Joolz watching this in 2021 .Interesting to see Harleyford Road as I had friend there in the 80s also the squats in Bonnington Square .My understanding was that ILEA had owned properties in Bonnington Square and went bankrupt hence squatting. Also in those days squatters had first right to buy if they could arrange a mortgage etc. Stunning three storey houses a little tranquil spot so close to the action.

Yay!! I’m so happy. Vauxhall is my favourite place in London. Did you go to the other side of St George’s Wharf, near the Thames Clipper? Those buildings are meant to look like ships. They’re still ugly, but not without purpose. Thanks for taking your amazing work where the POTUS fears to tread. Also, for anyone thinking of visiting Vauxhall, there are a number of art galleries (including Damian Hirst’s), the Beefeater gin factory, the gorgeous houses on Courtney St & a number of great pubs and the gorgeous Tea House Theatre.

Ironic that the Ashes are housed at Lords.

I went by the US embassy at Grosvenor Square a few years ago. On the guard building there was a sign saying all that was forbidden such as smoking and photography. There was a pictogram showing one of those round bombs with a fuse on it; the picture had the red circle with a diagonal line through it. So the meaning is, if you have a bomb please do not bring it into the building. I looked at that and laughed my head off. The guards looked suspicious.

Hi Julian. The new embassy is atrocious. I had no idea that the old embassy had been sold, and I cannot believe that the American people were not told. I remember how proud that I was of the "old" embassy when I first saw it in 1982. Now, our embassy looks like a stereo speaker. It's ugly now and will only get uglier as time goes on. I am with Prince Charles on modern architecture..."a monstrous carbuncle on the face of a much loved and elegant friend".

Ha ha!! Yes, a cunning ploy to lure in viewers. Everyone else does it after all! I don't know enough about it to voice strong opinions.

A common Category Error. Trump isn’t politics. He’s surrealist black comedy, like Kafka’s Metamorphosis. Only this time, Americans (like me) woke up the morning after the 2016 election to discover they’d elected a giant orange cockroach as their next President.

Amazing! In fact, "Boksal" is one of the few words I dimly remember from my attempts to learn Russian. But I've never have made any connection to Vauxhall.

I have to stop! Trump started a godforsaken war 2 nights ago, and yet I can't stop watching your vids. How the heck does all this knowledge, trivia, humor, side-bar tidbits stay in your brain !? I truly think that I would have forgotten my parents' first names by now if I were you. I have to get back to your site & at least buy your mdse., cuz as my luck would have it, you'll be booked solid when I get back. Screw Devon, Cornwall et al until my next few trips. I have told 6 peeps about your work. You NEED your own show HERE in the states! Pretend to be an agent and send some reels over to The Travel Channel! You are mad, not to! Half of what I watched so far, would ALL make half hour shows w/ 6 minutes of US commercials. Their overhead is almost nil, as your work is done! Dude Joolz, you're my new hero, ( along side Frye & Laurie, Blackadder, etc. etc.). You can be an O.B.E w/ a Knighthood soon to follow, ( I mean, well, if "The Stench of Dench" can be a Dame?.... anything's possible!, no?) Just save me one freeken mini kite before you're too big to talk to the little people. 🙂 ...you really could crack the US telly market. Txs sincerely though for these tours.
