The problem here is that Face is unfamiliar with the process of thinking. Reason is anathema to Face's "worldview." This goes along with the idea I put out there that teaching someone to be religious causes mental atrophy. The religious "brain" has been trained to give up on doing hard stuff like trying to connect one idea to another with the bridge of logic in favor of a small, steaming pile of entropically inert neural phantasms. Theists of this "degree" sort of see the process of reasoning as sort of a magical, demonic force that is best avoided. For me, it is very sad to see them in this state. It's probably the root of why I altruistically go out of my way to try and help them the best I can.

I think that the problem with the theists, in general, is that they have not been convinced in to believing trough the process of reasoning and therefore you cannot use the process of reasoning to get them to evaluate their beliefs.

I watched recently a video where Oxymandias explained how pre-sups switch between two different kinds of justification and honestly I think this is just them mixing up the two. Essentially they want to hold other people to a different standard than they do themselves. We all know it's a terrible argument but never before had the dishonesty been explained so clearly for me.

They will accept an external account of justification for their view (that God does it and has a specific nature), but will accept no other 'just so' story that gives a justification for a different view. Then they ask everyone else for internalist justifications (looking for chains of reasoning etc), and exploit the nature of chains (does it end, is it infinite, is it circular?) to try to score points.

@@realBreakfasttacos But it’s so hard to find them coz they’re buried under so much unnecessary verbiage. Something is true or not, right or wrong, regardless of the language used to frame it. So many of these debates now just seem to be vocabulary measuring contests, with the “internet arguments won” meme guy marking up numbers of fallacies employed. If an insight can be conveyed in 10 words, the other 100 are superfluous.
