The 5th switch is for a lightbar/beacon on the roof. My 2020 has the factory wiring harness above the headliner,behind the 3rd brake light.
@harrymarsh8477 Жыл бұрын
The wire comes from the big connector (that plugs in behind the ebrake switch), green with red trace. Before I installed everything I put female lugs on the 4 AUX wires and spliced in a green wire to the lightbar/beacon wire so I can connect loads to all 5 AUX switches at the switch box unit. 😎 Aside: I think it SUCKS that GM wouldn't install this box when Upfitter switches are a factory option (as it was on my 2022 Chev 2500) 😡

I added upfitter switches to my trailboss before I even added my off-road lights. Lol. The Aux 5 wire ends by the third break light. It’s for the roof beacon but under the dash it should be the light green and dark green striped wire going from the upfitter fusebox into the grey connector, at least it is on mine. You can depin it from that connector or just put a T-tap right there if you need the 5th aux

The Upfitter was on of the best updates to make. Next on your list, unless I am wrong and you have that option would be the HD Mirror. Super easy. Compared to the Upfitter install, the HD Mirror install is a cake walk. In my opinion everyone with a newer model Silverado should really look at it. With the Upfitter though, all kinds of different options.

What about the power wire on the battery and then the interior black and white wires from the LED lights? Did you just tape them up or connect them to something as well?

You did a great job but after watching this. No way I’m spending 6 hours tearing into my new 3500! For 90k It should have came with those to begin with. And I’d prefer to have them by the garage door opener’s. All the garbage GM put under the steering wheel you almost have to come to a dead stop to find them safely! Dig the wrap also!! That’s probably something more in on my level if I screw it I can just start over again 🙏👍

I did the same install over the weekend on my 3500. I cheated though. I cut the pattern out of 1/8" plastic with my laser engraver. I taped it to the knee booster with two sided tape and used an ossilating cutter to cut the hole. All together it took me about 1-1/2 hours to install.

Great video. Where did you put your relay and how did you wire up your grill lights?
@pat14lang2 жыл бұрын
Everyone has their way of running wire through the firewall grommets. But i’ve always made a little puncture hole (using a pick or needle), you end up with a little better seal around the wire than you would with a slit. I’ve had slits tear open more than I have with a pin hole. But you’re rarely going to be in situations where water is going to get inside because of that i guess… IMO the switch panel little lights would look better if they matched the other lights

Thanks. I have learned so much from you watching your videos so a big thanks. No not too much info as matter of fact a ‘do-it-your-seller’ idiot like me would attempt that on my 2020 Z-71 RST which also happens to be black and which I absolutely love. Mine came from factory with all badging blacked out except for the Z-71. I have learned that if one takes one’s time and follows directions one can do a lot of things to one’s vehicle. I like the fact that you are OCD like me and things have to match up. Oh and that other car that went by you with the colored lights on, I used to drive one of those. Now drive one without the strips as I now work in administration. Love you truck and most all the things you have done to it. Oh by the way one of the hardest things I did to my truck was change out the license plate lights to LED bulbs. I have medium size hands and it was very tight space. Almost got my hand caught. NOT SILLY TO BE EXCITED ABOUT A SWITCH.

Nice bud! How many Amps is each switch rated for? And where did you get those blue trim removal tools? Are any of those switches constant power? In other words they will work with the truck off. I think I’m fords there is only one factory switch (#6) that has constant power. So you can use switch #6 with the truck off but you obviously have to toggle the switch on. The other switches the key has to be in the on position for them to have power. Hope that makes sense. Was just curious for this kit cause I can’t seem to find that info anywhere. I’m wanting to wire my 30amp transfer tank fuel pump for that factory look. Plus, by having the switch you can turn off power to the pump so people can’t steal your fuel!
