Best none on road review I’ve seen on the speed triple 1050 r , everything explained clearly by someone who knows what he’s talking about..Thank you. I also love this bike for exactly the same reasons..

What sort of tank range are you getting? Been looking at the adventure bikes, but the speed has always pulled at the old heart strings since it came out.

Triumph do have a quickshifter, I've got one on mine !

A nice summary of your experience with the bike, straightforward and covers the main points very well. I wish others would do their reviews like this, no distracting background or overbearing muzak that only gets in the friggin way. Thanks for some good tips on what to add to make it real world and your balanced view on what doesn't. Wind blast and assumed impracticality put me of the range so am surprised there's no wind blast at 'close to' legal speeds. What do you reckon to a ventura pack rather than a rack pack, given those high level exhausts? Thanks Tony, I might have to look again at the speedy.

Personally I wouldn't go for the Ventura pack, just because of the aesthetics, however as a solutions to carrying luggage over a serious distance I think it's an elegant way to take what you need with you on a Speed Triple. I really rate the Ventura packs, they are very good indeed.

2 years on I bought my 16S after having an 05 for a year. What a bike, I agree with everything except the seat, the stock one is good. I ended up doing what someone above commented, got the S fitted a GPR can and had the suspension professionally fettled and it runs like a dream. But I do miss the R black and red colour scheme. Great bike 👍

Hi Tony, I want to know where you bought that extra lip for the fly screen? I know you said it doesn't really work, but willing to give it a try!

I found the Ohlins to be set up very hard and harsh. I'm 15stone and had to back everything off, especially the rear, to get anywhere near a compliant road setting.

HORNET6 I found the same and the salesman said that's how it is and you can't change it. He suggested to look into the S version which would be more road worthy

Did you ever try the s1000r & Tuono in the city. What is your opinion?
@MorebikesUk8 жыл бұрын
Yes, I've ridden both. In my opinion both the BMW and Tuono feel a bit too eager for an easy time of it in towb - they're a bit too quick to go off the throttle. If you don't mind that trait, then they're both great bikes at the slow stuff. With all of these bikes it's a case of what suits your style and for me it's the Triumph that wins out just because the triple motor is so easy to live with due to the smooth torque it delivers low down the rev range. The BMW's gearbox is the best for town work though. Hope that helps, Jayden. Thanks for watching.

How tall are you? I'm 6'2" and fed up of being a windsock on my MT but still love the naked styled bikes and am considering the new Speed Tripple.

Get some clip on bars and get yourself lower. It might affect long term ride but maybe not because you won't be a windsock anymore.

I have a 2017, im 6'3 and its comfortable. gone 500+ mile nonstop rides no problems. you can always get drop pegs or bar risers as well.

have you had any issues with the factory seat becoming crooked on the right side of the bike? mine seems to be closer to the tank on that side. ive tried loosening the bolts and moving it but it always seems to move again. thanks

Interesting comment at the end about "back to the glory days of the 2009 model" This begs the question what's wrong with the 2011 onwards model. Can you clarify what you don't like about the 2011 model ?

Well, I've got a 2014, bought new last year, and my feeling about it matches this review pretty well. plenty of power whenever you want it. Phenomenal brakes. awesome ohlins suspension. and that wonderful engine that lets me commute without having to flog it or slip the clutch to get going. And then there's the wheelies...

Interesting. One year is pretty much the standard of what is meant when referring to "Long term test" for reviewers from Edmunds to Motor Trend to Car magazine in the UK.
