@@juanfigueroa4989his background as a washed up glam rock singer with too much plastic surgery who went crazy is actually a cool concept that’s not what people are complaining about. They’re complaining about the generic scary satanic plot and overuse of other old horror tropes that just seem silly now. This movie had potential but it played it too safe with the premise and just felt really boring and sanitized. They could have done a whole lot more with it.

You don't have to be buddies - but you can be present and a kind human. How hard is it to smile and use normal behavior that NORMAL HUMANS use? If you want to be a whiny piece of nothing, you can get another job then. Same as telling someone to GET A FRIEND. In small towns and even not so small ones, even now I see some nice people that are willing to talk to you and converse - I am not asking for that, but I don't mind it if it happens. If it is busy, I am not going to bother anyone anyway, but if it is a place like that, you gotta figure they know everyone that comes through and chat. Longlegs is terrifying to me because of how grounded he is. He can't wipe out police stations, no magic, not even do any real supernatural things outside of the craft he has with his dolls. The concept of him scares me because hes entering a hardware store like a normal person, being weird but more or less just an average nobody. But in this movie universe, the person she writes off as another crazed customer is actually someone who is familiar with the devil himself and has the attention of the evil entities that hide in the world, he's scary because he's visible proof that demons are real and they do in fact SEE us.

I personally loved Longlegs, but I can also understand why is it receiving such a polarizing reactions from the audience. The writer and director Oz Perkins is a very unique filmmaker and his movies tend to be very polarizing because they're more focused on creating eerie atmosphere and almost nightmarish visuals while leaving a lot of things to the viewer's interpretation. Some people can find this ambiguity frustrating. Now... I had some issues with the movie (I wanted more explanations about the supernatural stuff), but the visuals, the atmosphere, the acting (both Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage were fantastic, I think Cage is the only actor that can be hilarious and creepy at the same time), the cryptic plot with a lot of hidden clues, the music... almost everything worked for me. As for the question if this movie is scary; it depends. If someone says "this movie is scary" that doesn't mean it will be scary for you. Hell.. you will never find a horror movie that will be scary for everyone. People are scared of different things, simple as that. Some people find The Blair Witch Project scary as hell and some find it boring. And yes... some people think Longlegs is scary, but some don't and nobody is wrong here. I just want to warn you; this is NOT Silence of the Lambs. Yes, an FBI agent is also tracking a serial killer in Longlegs, but they're completely different movies. I'm just glad that horror movies are getting more and more unique and versatile; not every horror movies needs to be Blumhouse "flavor-of-the-week" entertainment or generic slasher with dumb kids getting drunk and being chased by some masked nutjob.

This is an awful movie, not because it’s ambiguous or frustrating, because it’s incredibly misjudged, poorly written, bereft of logic (including internal or dream logic) and simply riddled with tired cliché. It’s exactly the kind of film that 23 year old film studies dropouts with the barest sense of perspective or experience gravitate towards because they perceive it as less gratifying and approachable than the usual horror fare for kids that is today popular. Quiet quiet quiet bang.

I see your point, but the thing is... Longlegs leaves little to nothing to the viewer's interpretation. Almost all ambiguity s vanished after the final exposition drop by Lee's mother. I wouldn't even say it hurts the horror aspect, the movie's still pretty eerie, but it also tries to be a detective story and kinda gives it up at the end.

Is it weird I kind of feel bad for him in this scene? Or at least feel bad for the normal person who might still be trapped inside his mind

"Longlegs" The Hardware Store Another very creepy & weird scene with Nicholas Cage. This movie was very spooky & had some freaky parts.......SSSSSSS.. Another part I noticed in the movie was when Nicholas Cage was driving the gear shift was way to high so It looked like he was being pulled by a truck or car if you see the part at 0:20 to 0:31. That was something that my brother noticed when we watched It together....

Rasing Arizona. I think NC is hilarious, so I have a hard time with "horror" in his case. Haven't seen the movie though.
