[Longplay, No Commentary] Battlezone: Combat Commander (PC, 2018) 1080p Full Play-through

Battlezone: Combat Commander is the sequel to Battlezone, originally released in 1999 for Windows. This is the remastered version released in 2018. Three decades have passed since the events in the first game, humans no longer fight each other over control of bio-metal but have experienced advancement in science and technology from utilisation of said bio-metal. Or were they?
This is essentially a different game compared to its predecessor. The single player campaign story and voice-acting are adequate. The game-play is similar in that you'll be in charge of base building and management, except there is a tech tree to adhere to, so gone are the days where you'll be able to produce the best units and weapons right off the bat. This did take away incentive to painfully tech up to produce advanced units as missions tended to finish without needing to field them, at least that's very true in SP campaign missions. Also, the removal of pilots as a resource removed a layer of strategic depth. My main criticism of this game is the AI. The AI pathfinding managed to be worse off compared to Battlezone, where AI units would just take the most direct path which and get themselves in peculiar situations more often than not, or when controlling multiple units, they would bunch up instead of fanning out intelligently. This did provide me the motivation to play the game more like a top-down strategy game for better controls (and lesser frustrations). Speaking of the controls department, it is indeed a great improvement over the predecessor as you can now group units and issue orders more easily without relying too much on line of sight in FPS mode. All in all, BZCC is not a bad game. It is just that players coming from the first Battlezone must readjust their expectations and approach when playing this game due to the steeper learning curve here. Again, I believe mods and multiplayer are the gems here, but I'm not diving into them for now.

This game was so advanced in everything when I first played it at 16 years old, now I'm 41 and it's is way better that alot of recent games. It is surely underrated. Love the intro.

It's great this game was re-released for the contemporary hardware. I can play one of the classics of my youth again. The concept of the game was revolutionary and still lacks proper follower.

Played a lot of this on LAN back in the day, worked perfectly with an original copy and the community patch on modern (for ~2010) hardware. Don't wanna know how many hours I put on it between initial release and then haha. Gosh, it was a lot of fun having everyone over and playing till morning. If this were re-made any later it'd have 50GB of computer-upscaled textures 😬 They did a good job preserving the look of the original.

I first played this in a caboose. No shit. A caboose in down town albany oregon was converted to an internet cafe' 99. I lived near by and had to check it out. I payed like 20 bucks to play this for a few hours i think. It was multi player and i think the most i ever saw on a server was maybe seven players.

In mission 11, I flew straight to the last waypoint, passing all the guards on the way (combat). It was difficult, but when I tried to build a base, I could not go through this mission. I have an old version of this game on CD.

I think I tried but got attacked by the Scions, distracted by all the following events, and totally forgot about that in the end. Lost a few dialogues there. I can be quite absent-minded at times, like how I didn't move the transport to nav 2 preemptively for faster clear time

@@Lelouch79 I'm not really sure how slow are you experiencing on that loading screen. I also don't remember how long did it take for my missions to load, but shouldn't be too different if playing on a modern PC with HDD. Can't really advise on this matter. Just note that I did cut out the empty waiting times.

Hi. I don't understand the language, but if the translation is correct, you'll have to play around the settings and change it to the sight mode you prefer. Good luck.

@@Chanwsan 2:38 at that moment I enter that machine and automatically my sight is changed to a laser sight and I don't know how to change the laser sight to the normal blackberry what is the pointer. I already looked in the options and since they are in English I do not understand how to remove the laser pointer from the normal pointer since when I get into the vehicle it automatically changes to a laser pointer and I hate that pointer since I can shoot well and I cannot find the option or key to change it to regular pointer

@@razielhamalach1698 It has been a while since I played the game so I don't remember the actual settings. But you can try to switch Off "3rd person laser sight" and see if it helps. On another matter that may or may not be related, you may also try Shift+F1/F2/F3 or F4 (if I remember correctly) to switch camera mode in game
