No, He is a Musical genius. We never put race on musicians, the public does that non-sense. This is why we musicians see ourselves as having a gift to share with the whole family of musicians. That’s why BB King can share with Elvis Presley, or Quincy Jones introducing and writing for Frank Sinatra, Lionel Richie writing a Grammy winning album for Kenny Rogers, etc. Please don’t refer to musicians as Black, White, Indian, Asian, or Native. We are in the great family of people gifted by God as Musicians.

I thank the Most High that he allowed me to come along in the area when this type of music was being created .When all black folks wanted to do was sit back in the basement smoke a few joints and let the music take you to the cosmos .

1975 -- Attending Cal-State University; driving my '75 TR6 thru Oakland with the top down around Lake Merritt; listening to this song on KBLX, KRE Berkeley. Life was good and easy. Golden State Warriors just won their first NBA Championship; Oakland A's World Champs. The Bay Area was a hot-bed of social activity -- hippies in San Francisco, Black Panthers keeping it real in Oakland. Everyday was an adventure ...

I remember when I got this LP back in 1976, it was actually given to me by a friend who made the rounds to radio stations to promote new LPs from I believe it was Epic Records, I remember listening to it with a tight group of friends and we all fell in love with the entire album...41 years later and it still feels like yesterday...classics never go away!

RCA Records, as Lonnie and the Cosmic Echoes had just left Flying Dutchman Records. Later, they moved to Columbia records. I don't think this album was ever released on CD, and I'm not sure about iTunes. I saw them play a few times, and saw Lonnie when he was the keyboard player for Pharaoh Sanders. Lonnie's bass player in those days was Al Anderson. Monster player. Grooves.

I had the hardest time finding out who made this back when it came out. Heard it on the radio, and of course, the stupid dj never identified the song or artist. I suspected it was LLS, but of course, the word Renaissance is never used in the song, so i couldn't be sure looking at the song titles on the album. As an 18 year old college student who was short on money, I really didn't want to gamble and be wrong. The clerks in the record stores were no help, so I broke down and took a chance and bought the album, and my suspicions were correct. Thank goodness!
