I enjoy making the videos Richard, if everything goes to plan I should only be in hospital 4 days plus a bit of recovery time. Wow, Alistair, sitting here in tears watching this. So much love for you, hope the necessary op works out, if not what an amazing life you have lived in these iconic fells. Im sat on the border of the swiss/italian alps watching this surrounded by 6 to 15 thousand foot walls of MOUNTAINS and yet im still calling out those lovely wainwrights i know and love so well before you call them. Wainwrights fells have a place in my heart even when im afforded the luxury of the greatest of the Alps. My longing is here in the alps but my heart belongs to Wainwright and you Alistair who walk and know those fells better than anyone. God willing i will be following new videos of yours my entire life. If you die, die knowing these incredible videos you shared got a million views and inspired generations xxxxxx

Thanks very much for your kind thoughts, and your brilliant description of the views you have at the moment. I haven't walked in the Alps although I have skied and snowboarded there! The operation is routine as I said...the neuro surgeon explained that I will never be as fit as I am now so I should have it ASAP. I was in 2 minds wether to include my ramblings... but if the videos stop for a short while I didn't want anyone to be concerned....at the moment there's no need to be. Oh I remember that route up to Skiddaw a couple of years ago and a right slog it was too, thankfully it was perfect weather but I came back via Lonscale Fell, dropping down to Skiddaw House and a lovely valley walk back to the car. You picked a good option, especially with the weather and "Gate of the Week" lol and those fast moving summits are a nightmare! Fingers crossed your op goes okay and I am waiting to hear if my newly scanned gallstones need an operation or not, getting old is not fun. All my videos are filmed on a week to week basic, so if I miss a week due to weather or anything else, nothing in the bank. Take care, cheers Alan

Hi Alan, aye it's a fair pull up on to Skiddaw... easier walking than when I've pushed/carried a mountain bike up tho'.... quicker and easier on the knees mind 👌 Best not to turn your back on these summits, you never know how far they'll get 🤣🤣 Good luck with your OP (if needed). Like my Dad used to say "I'm like an old car, always summat wrong" I try and keep a couple of weeks in hand but the weather sometimes decides otherwise. We've had a great summer, it's made waiting for all the buses in Lakes a joy. The views have been great, not to much haze this year. I was thinking of Gen X when I came across "gate of the week" but I wasn't sure I carried it off to well 🤔! The operation is to remove a benign (I hope and they think) tumour. My good looks shouldn't be damaged 🤣🤣 as it's done through my nose 😲😲 I will be in Preston hospital, only for 4days the neuro surgeon explained. I may have had the tumour for a long time, they don't know. I will have my pre Op this coming Thursday so shouldn't be long. Sadly not on this occasion! Because I'm unable to drive for medical reasons.... although not for much longer hopefully 🤔 I can only use the buses. So I walked from the bus station, near Booths. If I was driving, and indeed was able to get parked at the top of Underscar Road I definitely would. Hope that helps, thanks for watching and commenting... cheers Alistair 👍
