Hey Mike, here are a few tips and tricks i have learned to make your shark setup better. 1) A heavy rod (between 8 & 11 feet) will help get your baits far out in the surf. The number one key in casting big shark baits is having a heavy or extra heavy rod, not one that has flex, a.k.a anything less than a heavy. (i saw you had trouble with your rod over flexing in your casts in this video). 2) A weight between 2-3 OZ . (4 oz is ok when the surf is very rough) Having anything heavier will make it very hard to cast a good distance, and decrease he likelyhood of a shark dropping your bait from feeling the drag of the weight. 3) Smaller hook, smaller bait. You should not use a thick or large hook when shark fishing with spinning tackle, as your hooksets do not have very much power as you would with conventional (heavy duty) gear. This will make it very hard for that big hook to penetrate in the sharks mouth and get a good hookset. I would recommend a light wire or normal circle hook between 7/0-10/0. Also, the size and weight of your bait will greatly affect your casting distance, and it will not decrease your bites if you cut down the size of your bait a little. It's better to fish a smaller bait farther out than a big bait close to shore. p.s., as for bait selection (most important aspect) you should try to use bait that you catch at the beach you are shark fishing at. A fresh bait, no matter what species, is always better than any frozen bait! Any other questions i'd be happy to answer. I've landed over 100 sharks off the beach in my life & id be happy to help!

Hey Mike. So what you caught is a Flounder, but it's what's called a summer Flounder, or fluke. There are also winter Flounder, and then there's halibut. Halibut are the largest of the flounders and live in extremely deep water. A lot of fisherman actually have to shoot halibut when they get them on deck because they thrash so hard they've been known to kill fishermen.

Hey man gotta say I love ur videos but for shark fishing use the whole bait up to 12 inch or 1 pound and free line it with no weight in the surf or on the pier. Ive caught many sharks like that up to 11 feet. And yes. One was a tiger. And holding a stingray hold ur fingers in its gills and lift up and support it stomach with your other hand.
