The fact that we're actually going to see a dedicated fully animated Looney Tunes movie in general let alone a classical 2D animated movie feels so surreal but in a good way! It's something that I never thought would ever happen but then again there was a time that I didn't think Godzilla Minus One Toho's newest movie in the franchise would get a major nationwide release and not a Fathom Events limited release and look what happened. We're really living in interesting times!

Not only seeing The Day the Earth Blew Up getting a theatrical release is a wonderful achievement for the Looney Tunes franchise, it’s also incredibly welcome to see a theatrically released 2D animated movie! Besides the majority of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge out of Water, and parts of Space Jam: A New Legacy, we haven’t had a fully 2D animated movie in theaters since I believe 2011’s Winnie the Pooh.

This was an interesting turn. I was thinking maybe a DTV release and an Acme Night screening at best. I am not looking this gift horse in the mouth, but I find it odd that this will get such an ambitious release outlet. Bye Bye Bunny seems like something that should have been theatrical, and I hope that this paves the way for that. I get the feeling of when they have a current cartoon that they make a movie of and release theatrically, only without the big celebrity voiced characters that we never see again in the series. Or like how most TV anime get some sort of theatrical project, even if it's just a short in a Kid's Festival event. I just hope it doesn't become stigmatized as "it's a Saturday morning cartoon" upon release.

The others were Space Jam, Looney Tunes: Back in Action and Space Jam 2: A New Legacy. I won't count Who Framed Roger Rabbit since its not really much of a WB Movie to be honest.

This is by far the movie I'm the most excited for in 2024. I'm so excited to see a new Looney Tunes movie in theaters and a cherry on top, it's a full 2D animated film, which makes me even more excited! As usual, I'm really hoping this film does well when it gets released, as it could serve as another possible opportunity for a huge resurgence wave of 2D animated movies. While we have had some 2D animated movies recently, such as The Bob Burger's Movie and Beavis and Butt-Head Do The Universe released on Amazon Prime Video, it saddens me that most 2D animated films today, in my eyes at least, can be nailed down to direct-to-video Scooby Doo Movies, the DC Animated Universe, and Japanese anime stuff. Other than that though, that's mostly it, regarding 2D movies we get nowadays. This makes me all the more excited though for this movie in the hopes it will be a huge hit and create a new renaissance era of 2D animated movies. At any rate though, I can't wait to see Daffy and Porky team up to save the world and kick some alien butt!

This would be nice to see! I think the last time I've seen hand drawn animation that was of American origin (so not anime, otherwise I saw Suzume recently) on the big screen was Warner Bros' own Space Jam 2 a few years ago (EDIT: I did see the Bob's Burger's movie last year also). It wasn't the greatest movie or anything and could get downright cringey at times (coughPorkyrapcough) but it was nice to see some flowing, theatrical 2D animation again for the first time in what feels like a long while. I kind of regret not going to see Princess and the Frog back when that came out. I was 16 at the time and maybe wasn't in the mood for Disney Princess movies then but I didn't realize it would be like a last nail in the coffin for the medium if that one movie didn't make big enough bucks, I just assumed Disney would continue making more films in that style or at least switch back and forth between hand drawn and computer generated every other year afterwards. Since I grew up with both 2D and 3D animation side-by-side it was just easy to take for granted that they'd both be there and I figured they'd co-exist harmoniously with each other instead of one style stamping the other out. All of this is to say that I don't want to repeat the mistake I made in 2009 and plan to support more hand drawn animation in the future whenever it gets released theatrically. I would like studios to understand that there's still a place for 2D alongside 3D and they shouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater just because a few movies didn't make enough money. It's like abandoning sculpture or painting altogether just because a few art works received bad reviews. Of course good storytelling/writing is the most important thing, it wouldn't be great if every future film was like Home on the Range or A Troll in Central Park but still, I miss 2D.

I would like to see The Batgirl movie get risen, as it needs to be seen. Also, we could see DC animated movies come to the big screen again, maybe a Harley Quinn animated movie or a Batman Beyond one. And the report that revealed the film's existence said that, while is not clear if the film will see the light of day after James Gunn and Peter Safran became the big bosses of DC, none of the crew members hired were told it was cancelled.

I may not be eagerly anticipating this movie as much as others, but I am glad that not only will it be coming, but it will also surpass people's expectations of it and be shown on the big screen. Plus I also appreciate how it will feature a more obscure character with Petunia Pig.
