I can remember being told when ploughing fill tyres with water then air to take out the bounce when travelling , great vid Kurt.

I am used to hearing tyre talk related to F1 or WRC - so really interesting to hear the Michelin guy explaining how agricultural tyres cope with road and field conditions. And there was me thinking it was just about soft tyres with big cleats....

Those are some pretty kool looking tires . Glad yal talked about pressure learned something new today. Thanks Kurt

Very interesting video, tyres and tyre pressure is surprisingly overlooked these days. Would be nice to see how big the difference is between the two types of tyre
@v666edd5 жыл бұрын
Amazing how tyre technology has come along. Back in the 90s we were running duals all round or the low ground pressure tyres which were a pig to move on the road but these modern tyres offer the grip,low ground pressure and road legal without an escort . All good. Very informative 👍🏻

Personally, I have never seen a tyre like Michelin’s road bib before and it’s like his lord ship says prof is in the pudding, keep up the good work and all the best .

Very interesting those roadbibs would be great on a fastrack. Must say it too the boss man, our 3185 has gone through about 4 sets of verdistiens so far

Ive never had any other tyres on big tractors except chevrons but i have been able to plough with a fergie and 3 furrow plough on grass tyres with a deep diamond tred on.

So, very cool info. That's very interesting info about the pressure of the rear tires, and the weight on the front for better tire wear!

I worked for Bridgestone/Firestone for 5 yrs doing truck and bus then offroad tires i ran a boom truck working the the woods changing and repairing skidder tires quarries working on the haul trucks and loaders had 5 underground mines that i had to take care of also loved doing that kind of work but it took its toll on my body and had to give it up. It wasnt bad work just phyically hard and since i got out of it ive had 1 shoulder surgery and both hips replaced ...but it is what it is no regrets .....

@@LordMuck i just checked it out i honestly didnt mind changing any tire ...but a damn goodyear ...the damn sidewalls are so stiff i have actually had to park a loader or bulldozer on the other side of my boom truck to keep it from sliding away from the tire i was working on .....i was changing a 45/65/45 on a Cat 992C frontend loader onetime and had to get the trackhoe operator to put the bucket against the top of the tire and put the tire handler on my boom agsinst the bottom to get the rim and bead flange pushed back far enough to get the oring and lock ring back on and still almost pushed the loader off the jack snd cribbing blocks ...the boom truck i had was big enough for the job but it still struggled with them 42 ply tires

I've just spoken to the guy at Michelin and they should be available in the States once the final design has been signed off. At a guess I would say early next year by the time all the promo and marketing has been done so still a while but it will soon be here before you know it !

Because the tractor was being shown at other events with the new Ag tread tyres. The RoadBibs had been put on for one individual show.

I often wonder the same Josh but to be fair you guys don’t have the pressure to get so much from a restricted amount of land so you don’t need to spend so much on being completely cutting edge. I also think there is much we can learn from the USA.

INteresting stuff... Plenty to Agree and Disagree about ! Hmmm Basic tractor without FE Ballast .... Carting unnecessary weight around springs to mind - aka Fuel consumption; 150hp tractor and 2 coos in IWT to the Mart :-). Anyfield, those tyres CAN work for ploughing - I use Turg tyres for ploughing and Dozing with my Deere - since years. thanks for the Vid.
@LordMuck6 жыл бұрын
I think the point they are making is that due to increased loading for modern applications the tyres have been designed to withstand this but the trade off now is weight is required to get them to flex and run evenly. Good to hear you're getting good use from the Turgs.
@nigelclatworthy77636 жыл бұрын
Are they suitable for the fastrac 4220
@LordMuck6 жыл бұрын
They will be when released yes.
@SuperSparkie1236 жыл бұрын
Gotta disagree with the expert I'm afraid! We take the weight off thentractor if it's doing trailer work! 6920 On 7700 hours on the original tyres and it's done allot of road work! I can guarantee these would not have lasted if the weight block is on the front!
@LordMuck6 жыл бұрын
You’re running old style tyres so I’d agree about removing weight. If you went for the modern equivalent you’d be better having some weight.
@SuperSparkie1236 жыл бұрын
David Rowley would say around the 2.2 ton on average

@@LordMuck ah ok thx for the quik response :)
@TemeraireJimny6 жыл бұрын
Oh and while I think about it, taking weight off the front when towing a box trailer or tanker or whatever makes no sense at all. On the majority of such implements the wheels are at the back or possibly the centre and so because of leverage they have to transfer a lot of weight into the hitch, thus causing the tractor to pivot about the back axle lifting the front wheels. The exception being something with a front axle of it's own like a bale trailer.
@LordMuck6 жыл бұрын
No, taking weight off the front axle used to stop the tyres heating and scalloping out. Designs and technology have now changed to prevent this from happening to such an extent.
@TemeraireJimny6 жыл бұрын
Doesn't make sense. If you have a say 20t muck spreader on a single axle it will potentially be imposing a loading on the hitch anything from 4 or 5 tonnes upward depending on how the axle is positioned. That's going to affect the front wheels of the tractor, it's physics.
@LordMuck6 жыл бұрын
So why have we all spent the last 50 years removing weight on road work to prevent excess heat and wear ? Weights left on for roadwork killed tyres. It’s a simple plain fact.
@LordMuck6 жыл бұрын
The rear tyres would heat and wear but there’s nothing you could do about that but you could prevent the fronts wearing out at the same time therefore getting more hours out of them and not needing the expense of replacing all four in one go. Michelin have seen an increase in fixed weight and also front mounted implements and have developed a modern range that are stronger and less prone to wear. However, this now means they need weight to get them to flex and ride correctly.
@TemeraireJimny6 жыл бұрын
Probably because the inherent balance point of tractors has altered over the years, becoming less nose heavy and more neutral as weight has been increased in complexity of transmissions and strength of rear ends and now tyres have caught up, meaning that the front needs to be weighted to account for towed implements. Probably.
@TheGreatBritishFarm Жыл бұрын
A ton permanently on the front on the road? Take it diesel is free?
@LordMuck Жыл бұрын
I take it you have absolutely no idea about VF technology tyres 🙄
@TheGreatBritishFarm Жыл бұрын
@@LordMuck Fact is you're still lugging at least a ton more total deadweight up all the hills, just let some more air out. If you're doing a lot of roadwork then going for VF tyres is a bit wasteful.
@LordMuck Жыл бұрын
If it's a tractor just carting then VF is a waste of money. If you have front mounted equipment or Central Tyre Inflation then VF is a game changer
@LordMuck Жыл бұрын
"Just letting some air out" isn't how VF technology works. They are designed to work almost in reverse to a standard tyre. The weight ensures even wear and performance. Increased fuel useage is minimal.
@TheGreatBritishFarm Жыл бұрын
@@LordMuck Oh yes, CTI is a great bit of kit, not a doubt. To go back to my original comment though. Was he not saying with all modern tyres you need this weight on the front? May be wrong but
