@@JoeandNicsRoadTrip I'm enjoying your multi-part compilation. May I ask where you got the state capitols passport book with the color photos? I ordered one from The Capitol Collection but the photos were black & white. I ordered a different one from Amazon but it had no photos. I wish I'd known these souvenir books existed last summer when I photographed 5 state capitols in just a few days!

Just a bit over a year ago, we took a long road trip to Yellowstone. Stayed two nights in Cody. Lovely town. Saw a rodeo. Alas, a lady bullrider was badly injured. We still don't know how she fared. The next day, we drove to Yellowstone and stayed five nights. What a fantastic experience. Then drove southward through Utah, visiting some national parks and staying overnight in St George, on our way to the Grand Canyon. This was a first for me. I'd always wanted to see these places, but as we live in Maryland, it's just so far away. It was a wonderful trip.

When I was a kid growing up in Rapid, the story was that one could walk in to both the SD and WY governors' offices w/o an appointment and say your piece to them if they happened to be there. We (folks and I) tried it in Pierre in the 70s and it was true.

Wow, lots of open space in the West. Video does not adequately reveal how many hours you spent on the road in between each town or city you visited. I have driven through the Western states and know from personal experience the long hours and distances between towns, with literally no services along the road side. Awesome reminder of what those drives were like and why I loved every moment of those drives. Thank you Take care Ted Blair

I was going to college in Pocatello back in 1992. I had transferred in from another state, went to The First National Bar one night and met a guy. He was a serious hiker, he studied bureau of land management maps, and found an amazing trail for us one weekend. We drove as far as our car was allowed, and then hiked several miles to camp. We were 50 miles from Old Faithful. It was so incredibly beautiful out there.

El Paso, Texas Back in the 1950s and 1960s, downtown El Paso's San Jacinto Plaza featured a pond filled with live alligators. They'd entertained citizens since the 1880s. The gators are long gone, but have been replaced with an impressive fountain at the Plaza de Los Lagartos (Plaza of the Alligators).
