In many of EU schools (specifically Nordic countries), an approved swimming test (containing: 200 meter non stop chest swimming + 50 meter non stop back swimming + rescuing a doll from 3+ meter depth) is required to obtain a grade in sport subject, and the test shall not exceed 20-30 minutes for all the 3 parts

Lol I'm here because my kids 11 and 6-year-old. Did the same thing to me and I'm 39 they told me that I was in the deep end I panicked luckily the corner was not too far off and I swam over there or whatever I did. You're right it is all in your head it's the feeling of not being grounded. It's easier to learn at a early age that's what my kids did with no help from me cuz I don't get in anything I can't stand in.

I am so afraid to go down. Once my feet leave the ground I panic. I should focus on controlling myself in the water. Instead I allow the water to take control of me. It's definitely the power of ones mind and a little confidence. I hope to be swimming soon.

I love your instructions. It sounds way better than the other videos I’ve watched. I’m 25 atm and I’ve never had enough balls to learn to swim. I was planning to learn through classes, but the pool is deep and that alone is holding me back from going. That and a bit of embarrassment. However, I know a hotel that has a five foot pool. Shitty depth but I’m a shitty swimmer. I just came from your other video. I’ll be trying the other one first before this one.

Actually at 4:18: You should REALLY be careful while swimming next to one of those drains at the bottom of the pool. They can create problems for people and there have been accidents where people get "stuck" next to those drains and not be able to get up because there are some sort of "suction" if you are close to those drains. Avoid them if you can.

@StayReal026 жыл бұрын
I hear a lot of people asking what is the point of floating, well, here is one of the many reasons: Floating technique is very crucial when you are out in a lake and your muscles getting tired / exhausted and you cannot swim anymore. What you do is take a deep breathe, float on your back a bit to regain some energy for your muscles to relax. Keep your breathe half a minutes. Breathe out but then you have to flay your arms a bit like in 1:21 in this video so you don't sink. After that repeat the process again by deep breathe , hold it and lay on your back again to float to rest. This technique is just for YOU to survive when you are getting so tired that you can't swim any meters anymore. You basically just buy yourself some time to rest at one spot in the lake until you have energy back to your muscles so you can continue to swim back to shore. Without this technique , you would just sink and die whenever your muscles are too tired too work. You can also use this technique to swim on your back as well since it is less tiring than to swim on your chest facing the water. You can float AND swim at the same time which is very crucial for less experienced swimmers or swimmers who don't have good stamina for longer swims.

You should lay on your back while floating. Move your arms behind your head in the water. That will help lift your chest and stomach out of the water. Relax your legs at the knee and let the lower legs hand down in the water. Your pelvis and chest should be at water level. Breathe normally or slowly while briefly holding your breath to maintain buoyancy. Use your arms and legs to move your body through the water. You can float and swim in the water like this indefinitely without getting tired.

I didn’t even learn to swim until 22 and that was a doggie paddle and it took me so long because I would panic. I was also scared of drowning due to the water. After I got over that fear ( a little) I learned to freestyle swim by 23 (age). I still can not float while staying still and I hope this helps me. It’s so odd because I feel like I should be in the water all the time and I love it but the same time my fear of drowning gets in the way. I will update how this goes for me later on

I can easily panic at times in life but now I know part of the panic with swimming is because I was kicking wrong. Will definitely save this video for later. I hate not knowing the proper ways to float or swim

I remembered when I was a kid and I was 6.5ft and the pool was 8ft I recalled my P.E teacher saw me panicking and I even raised my hand which was a bad idea because I sank quicker. Luckily I remembered floating and backstroke...
