So when you first started what exactly did you eat? Meat, salt, & water? Did you only eat one meal a day? How long did you fast?

@@ruthpeet2350 I started by just cutting my carbs down to 20 grams per day , I think going into carnivore needs to be done gradually, I suffered the “ keto flu “ at first, it’s a reaction by your body to changing off carbohydrates and using ketones for energy.......can be avoided by easing yourself into keto over a few weeks... I fasted for 24 hours right at the start.......I’m down to 2 meals a day now ....intermittent fasting.......nothing to eat from about 7 pm to 10 or 11 am the next day........ I’ve been eating meat, eggs cheese chicken, Scant bits of lettuce, cucumber for about 5 months now........my rheumatoid arthritis is gone, diabetes gone, blood pressure normal now........restless legs at night...gone......really dry skin..gone.....all reinforced by blood tests.......ha ha ha. My doctor is so sceptical he’s ordered more blood tests......carbohydrates are inflammatory......and the killer.........I take vitamin C, vitamin D3 zinc and vitamin K2.

Same here at 72. Lost 47lbs in 2021 on Carnivore. Have dabbled with keto but have stalled for the last 5-6 months. Lost 2/3 of my hair. So thankful I had so much to start with. Looking at removing dairy to see if that will get me back on track. Thank you Laura for your Videos. You are a blessing.

Sure wish my mother-in-law would get on board. She is also 73, or maybe will be at her next birthday... anyways, she has so many ailments and is decades older than her actual age. 😭 She has to wear oxygen 24/7, uses a walker but can't go more than 10 steps or so. She had to get a lift chair recently because she can't even get up unassisted without it. She recently was air lifted to the hospital because we thought she had another stroke. Turns out she was severely dehydrated. Her back aches so badly she doesn't like to have to get up and walk a few steps to the bathroom so she decided she would make herself have to go less by not drinking anything. 🙄😭 She loves to cook and bake but can't stand long enough to do it. She can't even fix herself a cup of coffee because it takes standing for more than a minute. It is very sad to watch...... a few times over the last 5 years she has said she wants to try Keto but she doesn't get it. She still uses sugar in her coffee and sucks on cinnamon candies. She will still have potatoes and says she didn't know they were carbs. I mean I guess the bottom line is she isn't willing to help herself and it is hard to watch for sure. Thanks for sharing your story. ❤ Congrats to you!!

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your down-to-earth, honest, common sense approach to this lifestyle. It’s so realistic. I loved so many things about this video, including your photos; before, too-skinny, loose skin and all, you are so beautiful. I’m following a similar path to you; keto for three and a half years, I transitioned into a ketovore 2MAD lifestyle quite naturally and am moving ever closer to carnivore, about 80% at this point. I’ve lost 50 pounds, and have about 10 or 15 more to go. No rush, it’s much more about finding that intuitive way of eating for long-term balance and, as you say, listening to my body and what it needs for my best “future me.” Thank you for keeping it so real, I’m so glad I found your channel, Laura.

I am in the 90+ range of carnivore, have been living this lifestyle for 1yr 3 months. I cannot go off plan, I go into a unhealthy feeling phase that lasts for days. I generally stick with avocado, a few cucumber slices, once a month I may eat a cobb salad with no dressing. (I make at home). I was 268lbs in September of 2020, I now weigh 205lbs, I have been stalled for over 6 months, but I am not giving up, because I have been still losing inches from my body. My clothing size went from 22-24 (2xx) I now wear 16-18 (extra large). I usually eat only OMAD. So I must reveal I am 62 years old, so it does not matter what your age is, you can change your lifestyle and feel healthy and not rely on medications to survive a everyday life. I can testify that age doesn’t matter one whit when doing carnivore; at 80 I’ve lost about 70 lbs and reversed my diabetes 2 within that first month of carnivore (zero carbs), which was a humungous win for me….. into my third year now and holding on. Today’s video was me too, and I’m lost without the support of Laura and all these terrific comments. Lately I’ve discovered Costco’s frozen bags of Brussels sprouts with bacon, so I’m adding those few carbs whenever I use them as a boredom-break. Sometimes I fantasize about having something sugary or carbo-ey, but I’m terrified of getting diabetes back, and that keeps me straight. I was mostly vegetarian when I became diabetic and went through several years of anger and confusion UNTIL the KZbin videos started showing up……..I do believe those of us doing what we are doing are true pioneers.

Thank you! This video was super encouraging for me! I’ve been low-carb off-and-on since the old Atkins days, but have struggled with carb addiction. I could follow a plan for weeks but then would dive into a box of cereal or eat a cake. Over time, by trying again and again (and AGAIN!), I’ve landed at about 90% carnivore. And over time, here’s what I’ve moved away from and no longer even want: Alcohol (that was a tough one, and I went to AA to get traction) Fast food Diet sodas Quest bars Pasta Bread That’s a HUGE lifestyle change for someone who lived on cereal, sandwiches, and alcohol through college and beyond! Like you, snacking is not an option for me. I go through periods where I can fast 24 hours and then times where I eat twice daily. I still struggle with wanting to eat carbage when I’m stressed, but now I have strung together WAY more days of healthy eating than unhealthy. Sorry for the long post!🤣 I just relate to your story a lot and hope to encourage others who feel hopelessly addicted to carbage. Persistence and patience rule! Well, that and watching plenty of Laura, Kelly, Sara, Stephanie and the other carnivore/ketovore champions!💜💜💜 Thanks for another great video!

Hearing your story is EXACTLY ME! I'm in the process of removing foods that actually don't make me feel good. The big one is salads. I LOVED having a huge salad. I can eat and have the entire Olive Garden salad bowl, no problem, I literally crave a salad! Who does that?! Cheeses are the next thing to go, more so REALIZING constipation is inflammation and not just something that occurs. So getting to meat, is becoming easier. FINALLY discovering the answers to why you don't feel satisfied after eating is a revelation. Not to coin a phase but it is amazing how the body continues to adapt to survive even wiling eating wrong. So you know it will adapt to eating right. THANK YOU for your justification to changing our ways. DEF appreciated.

Laura It is definitely interesting that I started same time as you did and although I was Keto most of my 3 years lost 138lbs wanting another 20 or 30 to lose only 5’3” so losing more is good. But now being on year 4 I had learned the art of long term fasting 120 hours up to 240 hours with this I have been able to get rid of the loose skin. Yes I have documented it all with photos. The last part of my third year I had switched to Carnivore. I like hearing about the nuts, keto snacks and cheat days which has stalled my last bit of success so now I’m seeing what I need to change to move forward. I truly enjoy you journey but believe if you embark on longer term fast with your exercise you can rid yourself of more skin. I enjoy learning from your journey very inspirational. First time viewer. You are terrific! I am 62 and everything you shared I was like "Me Too"... I never heard it put in plain terms and with such warmth and helpfulness, until you spoke. Your video was so refreshing. With so much out there on KZbin to eat a better lifestyle, it sometimes feels like we are being hustled to buy products. My hubby and I are doing Keto, since June. I have all the issues you spoke of. He went from a 44 waist to a 36/38 waist and he looks more like the man I married 44 yrs ago. I was well over 300 at 5' 11, when I started and refused to look at the scale. All the reasons same as yours. Did not want to deal with it. Then Keto came along and we gave it a try. Some bumps along the way, mainly, as my cholesterol went too high. I realized after my recent blood work, I needed to look up how much you should have per day of cholesterol and that was when we realized we are eating too much cheese and eggs everyday. Like over 600 mg per day. I promised my dr to bring the bad number down in 4 mths. So no cheese, limited on eggs, as a treat and we keep it to under 200 mg of cholesterol a day. I am so glad I ran in to your video. Congratulations on your success and so nice to know I am not alone in the mind thoughts of food and how to handle it better. I look forward to more of your videos!

The cholesterol in food has little impact in blood cholesterol. Your liver makes 75% of all the cholesterol in your body, because every cell in your body needs it! Studies are showing that ppl with higher cholesterol have less heart diease and live longer. Research more, cholesterol is not bad, it is the inflammation from carbs that is bad.

Thank you so much for your story 😊 I love my Diet Pepsi and I was thinking I needed to be more strict and feel guilty having it, I can’t have eggs, grains or dairy to heal my autoimmune disease. It helps me get by and not feel deprived. I can ditch it later when I am settled in. It’s great to watch your videos, so much of what you have gone through relates to so many. Glad you’re making videos again!

Thank you, I needed to hear this, still need to get to a "healthy weight", I have maintained my 50 pound loss for 2 years, but I need to lose another 30. Still on Keto, thinking of going carnivore, the keto snacks are killing me, need to go off the sweeteners. Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much Laura for sharing your knowledge and experience on the carnivore diet. I am 5 1/2 months in on carnivore and down 48lbs so far. I've found 2mad works best for me. I glad you touched on the hair loss, I am losing quite a bit and it's concerning me, but hopeful soon it will turn around. Thanks again

I am not Keto or Carnivore and I can so relate to your journey. I have tried everything. At 52 years old, post menopause, on HRT, I am now focusing on my negative mindset, my horrible relationship with food, etc. I fasted way too much and burnt out my metabolism and my body went into starvation mode and storing all the whole foods I was eating as abdominal fat. I also knew I wasnt eating enough too. I still dont get hungry. I have to make myself eat. I know....its unheard of to not be hungry so it's a bad sign of too much fasting. I can go on and on about where I am at and what I am discovering and doing but I just want to thank you for sharing all you have. Your honest, your journey, your life then and now, you inspire me. I appreciate your video and look forward to more.

I'm on day one today, and I related to when you said some people have serious autoimmune disease but some people are just overweight and sick feeling from the standard American diet, and this is me. My relationship with food is very toxic, and I definitely stress/depress eat a lot. Since 2020 I have lost 55 pounds, but I still don't feel good. I slide back and forth between eating super clean where I feel like I'm white knuckling it and there's always that "hungry monster" in the corner that I'm suppressing, and full out binge eating and then I feel bloated/constipated/nauseas/depressed/guilty. There is no in-between for me. The reason I'm starting the carnivore diet is because at the age of 30 I'm noticing that food is affecting me much more than it did when I was younger. I want to not only lose (60 more pounds) but to actually FEEL good. So thank you for this video. I just ate a steak, again, day 1 today, and oddly enough I took a very healthy poop when I have been dealing with a lot of constipation. So, we're off to a good start.

For loose skin, some people swear by "dry brushing." I've never tried it (I never lost that much weight that I would have loose skin) so I'm not going to guarantee that it works, but I just thought I'd put the suggestion out there.

You’re brilliant!! KUDOS for fat loss and sustaining; monitoring your body & health and tweaking as needed!!! I’ve done fairly strict & consistent low-carb for years; did a season of OMAD mixed with some fasting - felt fairly healthy -- stumbled into lockdown season with too much sitting & snacking … and now 70 lbs up. I so appreciate your example. Love me some steaks, and actually enjoyed OMAD when I did that = heading back to that. THANKS for the perspectives and success, Laura!

I am so glad you made this video. I started low carb in 2016 started losing weight, found keto, then over time transitioned to ketovore. I have lost 60 lbs with 40 more to go. However, I have an extremely stressful job (I am a nurse) and have had many personal/family stressors in the past two years. I feel "stuck" right now, I have started eating keto treats at work to get through the day and when I get home I am wanting real sugary treats. After watching your video, I am going to try cutting out all the treats and nuts and see how I feel. It is good to hear others are dealing with the same struggles and finding their way to overcome cravings and weight fluctuations.

You look amazing Laura, you and your husband. I have not tried the Carnivore Diet and been on Keto for a while. I noticed issues with salads as well similar to what you described. I am in good health condition and in good weight but will definitely consider Carnivore at least on trial basis. The main reason is the mental clarity and energy boost that many people have cited. Your journey has inspired me. Thank you for sharing and thank your for being one of the most honest people on KZbin!

I’m heavier than I ever was pregnant, and I’ve had three children, the last two I’ve had in less than three years. It has wrecked me physically. I was in amazing shape before meeting my husband. Being this unhealthy is so disheartening, but I know I can do this!! I am 188 lbs at only 5’1”. Ready to make this change and stop chronic inflammation.

I have a similar history of food addiction, binging, dieting etc. My natural path just introduced me to this new way of eating so I am planning for this week to be my kick-off for a new lifestyle! You are inspiring and I am just a bit heavier than you when you started, praying for this to work for me. Trying to keep this budget friendly is a concern as well. If you have any tips on that I'd love to communicate with you. Thanks for your channel and honesty.

Im on 2 blood pressure medicines and Lipitor for cholesterol....I woke up in 2022 and said SOMETHING must change or i will be dead by 45....For the past month i have just been doing my best to "eat healthy"....Im currently at 347. I just discovered the carnivore lifestyle through Dr. Ken Berry's youtube channel and i have been down a rabbit hole for the past 4 days studying and researching anything and everything i could about this diet, hence how i found you!!....I am so excited to start this carnivore life and FINALLY grab control of my health which i haven't done in 20 years....Thank you for the great videos!!

Thank you. You look amazing. I can hardly reconcile your starting pictures with your current body. And, thank you for showing your loose skin pics because you don't have noticeably loose skin, so if anyone is worried, it's good to see it's so minor that unless people are looking to see if you have it, we wouldn't notice it. Also, thank you for sharing so many good tips too. It's so helpful. I'm just getting restarted in this journey. I'd lost 50 pounds, missed some foods, so tried palio, but even the "healthy carbs" in fruit and whole grains caused me to slowly gain weight over time, so I'm back up 30 lbs and just getting restarted. Carnivore is the only diet that is livable for me. I also love how great my skin looks and I know before, I started regrowing hair. I have female pattern baldness. Thyroid meds for 20 years didn't help, nor anything else I tried, but Carnivore does. Thank you for helping all of us keep going when the world says we're wrong, it's good to see living proof, it works.

I love that I discovered your videos and so many others who live the carnivore lifestyle. Several years ago I gained around 80lbs and have not been able to take it off. Doctor's always told me I must have been eating too much or not exercising enough because my bloodwork always came back normal except for occasionally raised insulin levels. I used to be a dedicated powerlifter in my 20s and very health conscious. So, I knew it wasn't my diet or activity level. A few months ago I had my bloodwork done living in Korea, my Dr pointed out that my Leptin levels were 10x higher than average, but didn't really talk to me much more about it. So I decided to do my own research. Then I discovered the carnivore diet. I've only been on it for a few weeks now, but my bloating is gone, my joint pain is going away, my skin looks better, and most of all.... I'm no longer hungry 24/7. Food doesn't cause me anxiety anymore and it's amazing. I hope I will continue to drop weight and become healthier as I continue. So, thank you for all of the information and down to earth talks. :)
