Communication with your customer is the key... I feel like you communicated well. I've found that you will never make every customer happy. I also truly believe that for every customer that won't pay your price, there are two that will and that my services are for people who understand and value what I offer. It's the prices brother nothing else. People just don't see the value in a personal wash where the person comes to you. People don't understand it's the convenience of them being at home having a drink while the car gets done. I'm in Miami and you tell someone 45$ for a basic wash on a sedan and they look at you crazy they even say I have a guy that does it for 30$ so I tell them we'll call him cause I have to run a business this isn't charity 😂😂😂😂😂 , but I also have place where I do 3 cars and make 1.1k in 6 hours so the quality of customer is different. I have one client I do both his cars once a week been with him for a year , exterior washes only on a porche and Mercedes but these are people that know the value of what you do and appreciate they don't have to go anywhere to get the job done. They trust me so much I have the combination to get in the property.

I charge 65 in and out for a sedan and some people still act a little weird, and some think it’s a bargain and don’t want to waste any time in getting it done, it all depends on how much they value their car at the end of the day

This is actually crazy to me! I just had an interior detail today and I charged 375 cash with a $40 tip gotta up them prices!!

Hmmm yeah technical glitches suck. I think you worded the first text exactly how I would have as well. The only thing I would say wasn’t the best thing was to not acknowledge the driveway issue they brought up. If it ever comes up again with other clients,I would say to acknowledge the tire thing and offer a solution to fix it. Even if it isn’t your fault to fix, they will respect it a lot more and might actually decide to apologize themselves on their text coming off a little rude. I’d say something like “sorry to hear that, do you have a picture you can send me of the issue? I have not had any complaints from other clients about this but I understand mistakes can happen and I would be more than happy to offer you a discount on your next appointment.” OR since you already have a pressure washer, you could offer to pressure wash their driveway on their next appointment. This way you still collect your money from detailing and can just pressure wash for free afterwards.

IMO, you probably couldn't have made that customer happy. However, what I think I would've done differently is just make it simple. Apologize about the scheduling error. Let him know you could clean the car as early as Wednesday for $120 or you'd be happy to wash a second car and include that in the $120 price. At that point, the main issue would be the scheduling. He might not like the price, but that is the price.

It wasn't your fault and I think he was calling you bc of the "cheap price" meaning he was probably thinking "is always a mess on my driveway but at least is still cheap" who knows. He will probably call you again in the future not only for the price but for the quality and honest job you do my friend. You didn't "lose" a cclient. Tha ks for sharing 🙏
