Trane has an algorithm that takes superheat and exv position over a certain amount of time. If sh doesn't come down and the exv doesn't get in a certain range it says loss of charge. Usually the suction temp sensor reads really high, like 50-60 ° high. Thats always the first thing I look at when I get a loss of charge alarm.

Yep, it was definitely low on charge due to the leaks. That time frame is 5 min run and under 59 leaving , both compressors running SH was 12 after charging. EXV 60% . We’re replacing leaking service valves and replacing sensors anyways as insurance.

. to take your time, as you can see, working around those EEV's can cause more issues. I had an older 115 ton CGAM that kept going into EEV communication loss, even with the new cables. Used silicon on the connections around the valves, end of issue. Great square one troubleshooting of diagnostics.

There is almost always a leak somewhere 😂

9.9 times out of 10 cgam loss of charge alarm is a bad suction temp sensor.

Not always though....had one that was leaking from the shell of the receiver
