I made fun of him for it at the time, but my little brother did one of the smartest things he could’ve done. After school he moved back home with our parents, and he worked two jobs. Living at home, no expenses except for his car, and working two full-time jobs. He not only paid off his student loans but he saved up enough money for a down payment on a house as well as being able to put some money away in savings.

Same, had to restart at 27, the business I was building failed, had to move out of my apartment in the city and lost my gf of 4 years to one of my best friends. I’ve been renting a cheap, dusty old studio apartment for the last two years working overtime in a shitty warehouse job to pay off the debt I got into. Completely rebooted my life, finally starting to get some saving behind me, making some solid investments and a new future to build and look forward to. It’s difficult to restart especially at this age because I feel so far behind having to do so, Sometimes it felt like I’m too old to start again but it gives you clarity and a fresh new outlook and the chance to remould yourself into something stronger and wiser.

Feeling lost, depression, negative thoughts, anxiety..These are the most common side effects when you have no purposse and your mission. I know that for some people this is the hardest thing--> finding your purpose and your mission. We all know that some of our classmates knew what they wanted to do in life, since they were 15.. some of us didn't knew, and still don't. So i guess my advice for lost souls is to try and learn new things. Too seek that excitement and joy, even in little things. Even if you change your hobbies and interests every week.. you will soon find something that resonates with you the most, and than stick with that... :)

@@lucascoelho1995 2 Years ago I moved abroad, I was working there and cohabitating with my gf (ltr). It got to a point (couple of months ago) where I realized I was throwing my time away, I was not making any progress and the things were getting out of hand. Before I run out of money, patience, time, before things got to the absolute shitter, I decided to go back to my home country and start fresh. I was living there to be with her, and to get better opportunities on a better country. I was mistaken, good opportunities are wherever you make them, even if your country is kinda shit like mine. The whole process, the move, the break up, was very very painful. You will heal with time, make sure to stop talking to her, to stop keeping things that bring memories, and to change your habits. The gym was a big help for me in order to clear my mind from bad thoughts. I only reconnected here with people that were worth it, I didnt even told the "deadbeats" I was back in town. Choose people that are actually good, that take care of themselves, that are smart and progress in life. Having a clean slate on a place you know well can be a bliss, so take advantage of it. It's up to you how deep the pain goes, be strong my friend!

@@tomsl7111 It took me approximately 1 year. The best thing I always tell people is whatever weight you gain you didn't gain it all in a day so you're not going to lose it in a day. Whatever you're trying to achieve is not an overnight process and to not get discouraged.

If someone argues the point, they will drag you down, another crab pulling others back into the bucket. Walk away/ghost 'em/if pressed I just say I've been busy. Rich good advice but I notice that in these types of videos everyone mentions "doctor, lawyer". Rarely do people mention engineer... I studied engineering and am in project management. Very lucrative field where if you're good you can earn 200k+ in 5 to 10 years. Better yet you don't need a degree for project management. You need to be switched on, able to schedule, manage budgets, and be a strong leader. The best PMs have a solid technical background though. Just my 2 cents

Right now though I have a YT channel on personal finance (different account) I'm building up as I currently work 70+ hour weeks I have time for little else (no woman either due to tons of remote work / odd hours). Curious to hear about your rough path to starting your own company... I see so many options: recruitment, consulting, but really the big draw for me I think is project managing multi-billion dollar jobs. The salary on those can get into the $500k+, but a lot of that is really good timing / luck but the XP I am gaining now is very good. Head down, work, learn, work smarter, and grow.

I lived at home and bought 4 properties before age 30. Currently age 33 and net 1.5mill. Dont worry about trying to look cool or moving out. As long as your parents let you be your own man, live home and invest. Noe i pay their bills and give them 1500/fortnight as pocket money. I think other early 20’s - somethings like myself who are currently finishing up College see contradicting thoughts at times. In this video, we learn “it’s succeeding in life-there’s no easy fix. Have to level up in order to reach that six figure income eventually”. And at the same time, there’s other vids that have a subliminal message of get out your parents house, make an income its not worth your time to talk to women if you dont. Rich, Thank you for these videos. I have made my fair share of mistakes in my early 20s. I got my first job out of college making roughly 50k a year and had a decent investment portfolio. Nothing in my life seemed to matter at that point and I just kinda was stumbling upwards while having no value in myself. I got a real kick in the teeth this past year when my company folded, I started dating a gold digger about ten years older than me and I started drinking and gambling my life, which I deemed expendable, away. Flash forward to April of this year I got cheated on, left with a pile of debt and was forced to go to a cult-like rehab by my family. I left early cut ties with my family and my former friends and started working on myself roughly around the time I discovered your videos. Working out a fuck ton now and building savings while tackling debt with gazelle intensity. The biggest part of me that I still need to solve is self-love and self-value so I never feel the need to take care of someone like my ex again. I can't say I've gotten there but I can say watching you has inspired me and is pushing me to improve every day. Thanks again!

It all depends on who you are and what you want, I'm a simple guy school and work. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what ur peers have to say, it you feel comfortable financially to move out them by all means go for it. But unfortunately we see social media folks my ages living alone with nice house with no education ( predominantly white folks, no racism intended just an observation) can be mentality draining that's why I don't bother using social media anymore. Great video! I am also a young 23 year old photographer/cinematographer. If I'm being blunt this industry takes copious time, skill and dedication to make a name for yourself and become the guy people call. I am beyond grateful to have been able to start building my skills and portfolio at the age of 16 in my teenage years. From my experience you should be prepared to work 2-3 years at least pro bono or at a cheap rate. However with that said, if you put in your 10,000 hours of mastery and stick it out enthusiastically for a few years it really is an absolute fulfillment to make a living working for yourself in this field. My Dad talked me into quiting my job for some reason why I still cant figure out! Even if it is how do you know the insurance is in their name...can they even change the spark plugs themselves, are they renting it, I mean dude how do you know they did all the work themselves? More than likely they had help....money doesn’t come from trees... Ask yourself if you even want other peoples life? My brother has a Tahoe, his girlfriend stays in debt buying every new maxima that comes out...she’s on a seven yr car loan...she has an apartment too small for his kid as well as their new kid they recently had. I used to be jealous of them but now I realize I don’t want a Nissan Maxima, I don’t want kids, I don’t want a relationship, I don’t even find his lady attractive, I don’t want their apartment, I don’t even wanna live in Arkansas...so I’m not jealous of them anymore. If someone has the same life I want from top to bottom then I’ll ask them how do I get there I’m not gonna hate on them. Plus the world is way to fucking big for this shit...all these material things...you can’t take them with you when you die and they just deteriorate anyway...they’re things...they’re just things...that’s all they will ever be. Luxury items are just adult toys...woman’s expensive purses they’re just an ornament. It doesn’t mean shit....it’s just someone buying someone else shit and making them rich....create your own brand. When I start making money I’m gonna create my own clothing...I’m not gonna buy someone else’s shit...for what??? So I can be someone else’s twin? I don’t even like Nike shoes, I don’t even like name brand clothing...I don’t even care about a relationship...create the life around the things that will enhance your life...don’t copy other peoples life. That’s what makes them happy not you. You can’t please everyone. Even if you are making 6 figures...someone else will make 200,000 figures....Bill Gates isn’t even married....he’s a billionaire...he doesn’t even flash his cash...he doesn’t even care that he’s bill gates. He only cares about his hobbies which is computers and software. He grew up rich...since he was a kid...always was rich...he wasn’t trying to get rich by building computers or software he just likes what he likes...it came with it...he didn’t stop building computers when he became a billionaire...because he wasn’t doing it for the money. It’s other ways to be a celebrity, create apps, create clothes, become the president, become a lawyer, create a KZbin channel, become the worlds best mechanic buy a fancy car, create your own brand...you don’t have to date the kim kardashian...dude you love in Cali....that’s where I’m moving to when my career takes off. I’ve lived there for 6 months, visited more times I can count, went all around California, San Francisco, LA, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, San Diego, Sacramento, I can keep going. You’re so lucky...I live in Arkansas. A lot of old people live here. It’s all about Instagram, eating, dating, who has the nicest corvette nothing more. Like two water parks, one amusement park, the county fair comes once a yr and no one goes. I think I listed everything it is to do here. It’s more women than men here so people date the same chicks. Women get passed around a lot here.

Great advice about specialized photography. I read of a man who makes money just taking pictures of buildings for architects, contractors, etc. My son is a graphic designer said there is a whole class people called food artists who arrange and take pictures of food for magazines, youtube chefs, commercials, etc. Ever wonder why pics in magazines show perfect pics of food while in real life the product looks like shit? Hey, who takes pictures in various types of product catalogs? BTW great going on retirement. Having that much at that age is great and in your later years will be HUGE even if you stop at the age of 30. BTW portrait photography is dead: digital cameras and cell phones killed it off. Selfies are the new portraits. I knew one guy who was laid off from high tech who also was great at portrait photograph and opened a business. Never got off the ground. Shoot photos for people/companies that have money.

At 19 I have similar thoughts. I think its important to carry yourself as if you are someone great. there is no point in feeling bad for yourself and saying you are not good enough. Bust your ass and walk with confidence that you will be someone great.

I went from knowing nothing to shooting for Mandalay Bay's Annual Report in about four years. First you have to assist. You have to be on time, get the coffee orders right. Commercial photography is like being a writer or a plumber or a roofer. It's a craft. People go well it must be nice to get paid to shoot in Belize. I say yeah it was!! My best moments in my life were in photography. I worked everyday for 5 years. You have to deal with burnout as well. One more thing is success does not go up in 45 angle...

Rich, You may have missed something here, as you said, this kid has a 10K stock portfolio, that shows us something about his discipline that I think he might be able to use at least on the side.... he has shown the ability to save and keep cash, and if he invested in himself by learning a lot about the stock market and financial instruments and those sorts of things, it could really come back in a good way in say 25 years..... If he keeps saving and investing, and maybe learns enough to get into more aggressive investing (without being reckless) and does this on the side while he is pursuing something else in the form of active work, he will be rich in his late forties with a little luck.... worked for me.

Every young man should try sales....even though only a few % can actually do it. Lessons learned therein are invaluable, even if you fail. If you can sell, and really develop professional relationships, you can kill it in nearly every industry. I'm in SW tech management and sw eng, and I've seen $1M+ Commission checks and $2-3M comp packages for top performers (in their "good" years...it cycles dramatically). There are crazy 20M-40M years for those who handle the HW purchases (like a massive server upgrade) for a Fort100 company. Start with "inside sales" in an industry you may understand, Cold calls, remote meetings, qualifications and work your way up. Sales people are incredibly valuable, and lead very social and "party" type lives...travel, golfing, entertaining clients, etc. To be in the top 10% in sales in a major company, you have to be a terminator. relentless. "That guy has my money, and I'm going to get it!". I'm not one of these guys, but I figured that out in my early 20's. A lesson worth taking.

@@ryanj357 GJ Man. See if you can take those skills to corporate sales (vs consumer, if that's your case), then account management. If you can develop contacts at key accounts, you can switch industries and use those contacts as an asset. B2B sales is where all the $ is. Only need a couple good accounts and you're set. In telco, I bet there is a corp side, that deals with accounts beyond the small business plans. Definitely in fiber/bandwidth providers.

I might have to look at corporate sales somewhere else within the province. I've been there for 3 years now and I have really good vacation and benefits. @@ryanj357 I get it. Risk management, that's me, but I'm older. When you're young, that's the time to take risks and fly w/o a net. Nothing motivates a sales person more than a low base salary, and a fresh start each month or quarter. Just make sure you're ready and committed to your own success before jumping. If you fail, fail early, and learn the lessons. Better to know your career path is not for you as early as possible. good luck!

Meeting one's own needs with a job and minimal experience was far easier 10-20 years ago compared to now, especially considering the competition and extraordinary cost of living in California. His expectations of making over $100,000 a year, prior to having a solid 5-10 years of experience in an industry that pays well, were probably shaped by seeing people in his age group with similar skill sets enjoying that success. What he isn't being shown are the special advantages that some people are given. For example, some parents are well-connected to those who will go out of their way to create special opportunities for those parents' children.

Gut out 2 more years living with mom and dad and get a 2-year technical-training degree: welding, medical service, etc. and then go wherever the money is. If they are going to give you major coin to go do welding in Japan, then you go to Japan and make money. Give it five years at that point and just make money. You'll be 29 and should be in a decent place with no debt, money in some accounts, and you can decide what to do from there. Photography can be a hobby which might turn into your primary source at this point, or perhaps even later.

As a 23 year old, I said I want to write and I refused to do anything else and it sucked for years financially. But my skills were sharp and I rose up the ladder to be an Editor in Chief where I was hired for my WRITING ability. There's more than one way to skin a cat, my friend. You just have to be willing to take the hits.

Not sure where the stats come from but in my 42 years regardless of where i was, there were more than 20 percent that were 6’ or taller. Its more like 20 percent were 5’7” or less but more like 80 percent 6’ and over
