Seriously, I've had the pleasure of watching your channel for just over a year now. It's simply breathtaking & sublime on so many levels.. Your channel is a MASTERCLASS in video production from A to Z brother! Thank you for having the courage to put your dream into motion. The postive impact you've had on others with your passion is AWESOME! Thank you 😎😊

Wow, at 4 mos. you have 4.5mil views! That's a huge success. 1 word of advice: get an investment counselor and invest in property or something that is a sure bet. Don't buy stupid stuff nor a mega mansion right outta the gate. KZbin is still a risky business. I wish you the very very best! This vlog is very beautiful and interesting!

This, and the entirety of this channel belongs in the archives of the National Film Board of Canada. It’s a historical document of our nation’s remote wilderness in the early 21st century and so much more. We are so privileged to witness it all as it’s published.

@julliansenior6505 yes great point! I guess my comment was more about Jon's expertise with wilderness experience and respect for nature as his primary focus, with the you tube stuff being secondary. Sometimes I watch his films and imagine the ruckus it would cause if inexperienced folks just randomly went to these places without the necessary precautions and expertise. Much respect to Jonathan and his treatment towards Canadian wilderness. 👍✌️

@@EmilysActiviTV I agree, he always tries to educate a bit whether its reading a paragraph of his book on that trip or describing how the ecosystem works in that area. The videography is superb from the time-lapses to the macro video of plants and bugs.

My son is 18 and has a wild roaming spirit. He has ideas that change on a weekly basis, but they always come back to being in the wild and traveling in a free self sustained mode. He is held back by what society and his family wants him to do. Settle down, make roots and pursue a living. I am going to show him this video and hopefully inspire him to go for it and not look back. Thank you for putting it all together in a beautifully produced video.

Yeah that would be the best of both worlds. KZbin has allowed Jon to both make a living, while roaming free. This channel isnt really about self sustaining. It's the story of how resources were used to turn ones passion in to money and support.

*3h42m...what is this nonsense?* Brilliant question, thank you for asking it. This is episode one of a four-part series covering my first year of full-time camping (2021) and the backstory of how that became possible. There are chapters in the playback bar as usual if you want to pick and choose parts. *Episodes 2, 3, and 4* (for summer, fall, and winter) will be released throughout the year and they’ll cover the behind the scenes of what it takes to be able to be able to do this full-time including: -filming and editing in the summer episode -the youtube and finances side of things for fall -and a variety of frequently asked questions we get in the comments for the final episode I made most of this last year while injured and finally had a chance to finish it a year later.

As a kind it always showed me how truly small I was. We lived outdoors. I didn't walk into it with no knowledge, id done it all my life, living simple. Life's simple when you can live on less than $1500 a month comfortably and be able to actually save.

I have been watching Lost Lakes for well over a year now. I do not believe in subscribing to a channel just because it is "free and so easy". It takes me a long time of constant great content before I 'simply click'. There are about 10 KZbin channels I subscribe too, and Lost Lakes is one of them! 80% of any adventure is only 20% interesting. Jon does an unbelievable job at bringing the most important moments in a 12-day trip (that most of us dreamed about doing) into a 1- or 2-hour video! And Erin... I hope Jon realizes what he has in Erin!

I live vicariously through your videos, in awe of the scenery you capture, the adventures, your stories BUT this particular video is one of my favorites. Outstanding. I do horse camping, no videos or channel but I am inspired. Thank you. I have followed you for a few years now. Thank you so much!

The vivid scenery fuels my balance, while your truthfulness and honesty stokes my own humanity and my continued fight to overcome my congenital shortcomings. Thank you

I've watched every single trip, and I am always excited to see a new upload! This one is no exception. Truly a work of art. I cannot say enough good things about your work Jon. I am truly thankful for it. I also love the history behind how you started and have always wanted to know more about you and your family. Thank you for teaching respect for the rivers, lakes and streams ...for your love of paddling and respect for your forefathers (leave behind) you are absolutely my favorite paddler and "my canoe guy"! You rock!

Wow and thanks. I've been following you for a few years now. you are my inspiration. I love the video's they help me relax after the 9 to 5 job (that I hate) but it pays the bills. I will be doing a little backcountry canoe trip this year in the upper peninsula Michigan. It wont compare to your trips but it should be nice beautiful country up there. Some day i would love to come up to Canada for a canoe and fishing trip. If you ever do a subscriber trip keep me on the top of the list it would be a dream. keep the video's coming and stay safe.

What's neat about your videos is that we get to see things like the gorge and waterfall that not many people get to see. If it weren't for you catching these things the way you do with the drone, I wouldn't see them either, ever.

I had every intent of stretching out watching this video to make it last but once I started watching I couldn't stop lol I've said it before and I'll say it again, this channel is by far my favourite channel on KZbin. Keep living the dream and taking us along for the ride 🖤

Jon, I'm, maybe, more crazy than you are. I left everything behind do a solo canoe trip across Canada with my two Dobermanns. I went east to west with hundreds of portages and enjoying the loons and wolves at night. At least, you had the possibility to document the adventure on social media for a possible financial reward. My sojourn was accomplished before social media. The memory of that adventure is my everlasting reward. Linda with my two Dobermanns: Degen von Asgard Walkure von Asgard
