I’m glad I was able to see Pantera in ‘96. I remember seeing Cobains death in that clip. I found out on MTV news before that clip on evening news. I cried and went to the music store. They had a new incense burning that they were going to release later that week. It was called Nirvana. I re bought Nevermind and they gave me a black ribbon. I put it in the case and had it for years before someone stole it. It was worth something to me so I was upset by it.

@@eballeng I know... but if you released an album called "Down the porcelain pisser"... and then you die, and I say "Elliot went down the porcelain pisser", you'd think that was a normal thing to say? When people die, you say "has died" or "has passed" or something to that effect. The comment was pointing out that he used a pun/play-on-words to explain the death of a human-being. "Kurt Cobain doesn't smell like teen spirit anymore, because he's dead"... do you see how that statement might not go over so well? THAT's the point.

One of the most depressing videos ever. All these amazingly talented people had there’s lives taken whether or not deserved no one will know but what we do know is they were all great and should be look at like professional musicians who had an impact in the world of music and in everyone’s hearts. The candle that burns the brightest lasts half as long. The people who are truly great aren’t given a chance and that’s why they are great not because they died but because they had such a big impact with such little time. RIP

EVH's death really caught me off guard, even though I knew he was not doing well and the band was pretty much finished before the news. I had gotten further into his work and became a fan just one year before. Definitely one of the saddest moments in music history. All of a sudden we just lost the guy who did the most for electric guitar. He donating part of his collection to public schools will always be my fondest memory of him.
