Alicia Bridges' 1978 disco anthem "I Love The Nightlife (Disco 'Round was dancing in a circle.)" is a classic dance floor favorite. Written and produced by Alicia herself, the single was released in February of that year as part of her self-titled debut album. Featuring an all-star backing band including bassist Willie Weeks, guitarist Cornell Dupree, drummer Steve Gadd, keyboardist Richard Tee, and saxophonist David Sanborn, the song's lyrics speak to the joys of dancing and partying late into the night. With its infectious beat and soulful vocals, it has become one of the most recognizable songs of the disco era. Let the party start! 🎉🪩🎶.

@LuvTadnDixie
@LuvTadnDixie Жыл бұрын
I never understood the disco backlash. I guess when something gets too huge and too popular . . . but it still doesn't make sense to me. Bee Gee free weekends. A crate filled with disco records was blown up on the field between games of a doubleheader between the Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers. I mean give me a break. Really? You're that angry? Are you really going to get that angry about it that you feel the need to destroy it with explosives? Hey, just because you don't get it, probably can't dance and have no sense of rhythm, don't blame it on Donna Summer and the Bee Gees -- it's not their fault.

I was a kid in the 70s and I loved all the music! Rock, Country, Disco, Folk and even early Rap. Never understood the hatred some people had for Disco. I'm convinced it was mainly men that couldn't dance, so they pretended they were too cool to listen to songs that people danced to.

"I Will Survive" is a song by American singer Gloria Gaynor is a popular disco🪩 anthem. "Another One Bites the Dust" was a disco🪩 song by QUEEN. The head bobbing disco🪩 hit was conceived by bassist John Deacon. George McCrae - 'Rock Your Baby'. This was a massive international hit in 1974, and was arguably the first true disco🪩hit around the world that introduced the genre to the mainstream. Lady Marmalade, Labelle. Boogie Wonderland, Earth, Wind, And Fire With The Emotions. Ladies Night, Kool & The Gang. If I Can’t Have You, Yvonne Elliman. Give Me The Night, George Benson. Le Freak, Chic. Devil Woman, Cliff Richard. Dancing Queen, Abba. John Paul Young - 'Love is in the Air' The Hues Corporation - 'Rock the Boat' Rod Stewart - 'Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?' Tavares - 'Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel'. Village People - 'YMCA'. The Weather Girls - 'It's Raining Men". The Four Seasons - 'December '63 (Oh What a Night)'. The O'Jays - 'Love Train." Just a few of great disco🪩 tunes‼

"Armed and Extremely Dangerous" by First Choice from 1973 could be considered the first Disco hit (not arguing with you just adding my two cents). It sounds more like a song from the later Disco period of 1978-79 than a hit before the genre even had a name.
@daleofficer1709
@daleofficer1709 Жыл бұрын
@@bloppysloppy4057 it could even be argued that Isaac Hayes’ “Theme From Shaft” was the first disco hit in 1971, and there are some who even suggest Jerry Butler’s “Only The Strong Survive” in 1969 could qualify for that title as well. Not sure if I buy into the Jerry Butler theory, but in my mind “Shaft” is a strong contender.

Even as a child growing up on a farm in the '70s I was intrigued by the glimpses of the disco lifestyle I saw on TV. By the time I was in my 20s, living in a city in the early '90s, the styles and sounds of the 1970s were experiencing a revival. The best times at the clubs were on "Trash Disco" nights when they played these hits all night long and we'd never leave the dance floor!

I live in Tennessee and love country music so when disco came along I was crazy about it. One Saturday night I'd go to a club with a country band and the next Saturday night I'd go to a disco that was a couple of towns over. THOSE WERE THE DAYS !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🎵🎶

Would you believe this song actually saw some “ ack-Shawn” on a few country radio stations back in the day? It did! I guess because she’s from North Carolina that made her “country” in some people’s eyes. 😂😂 Phenomenal song from the height of the disco era! Love the sax too! ❤
