i think the movie nailed the “gen z” type humour because it doesn’t take itself too seriously and thrives on its own self-awareness, if that makes sense? Camila Mendes’ delivery of certain lines were AMAZING vs when her Riverdale character says similar kind of stuff, it ends up being incredibly cringey because the way it’s written thinks far too highly of itself😭 free Cami Mendes from the shackles of Riverdale because she was incredible... and i wasn’t expecting Maya Hawke to make me feel this typa way👀

i think that them having a solely platonic relationship was actually very important to the story, its meant to show that lesbians don't fall in love w every girl they're friends with, and that they can have normal platonic but close friendships like this, which i feel is not presented well in a lot of other forms of media

I usually think writers attempting to emulate Gen Z conversations are very forced and full of buzzwords and very obviously written by some middle aged person, but I was soooo impressed they added that whole conversation in front of the greenhouse of Eleanor and Drea talking in exclusively insane hyperbolic statements about the headmistress bc they loved and admired her so much. I think that was the most accurate portrayal of Gen Z dialogue I'd ever seen.

That end part with Max really shows he hasn't learned from this experience. He's been sent to a group to help him deconstruct himself and become a healthier man and he says "After everything I'VE been through," just trying to paint himself as the victim so he can go on doing what he does. It's a good little ending because sometimes people don't change.

I did enjoy this movie a lot, but Drea and Eleanor coming back together as friends at the end was a little rushed. Someone in the comments of another video suggested that the ending would have been stronger if they’d been more tentative about hanging out again and working to be better people. Or alternatively if the movie had ended by committing to them being in a toxic, unhealthy friendship and dropped the love interests as a consequence of their scheming. I agree with that honestly.

This is the only movie geared towards Gen z that isn’t cringey and actually nails Gen z humor without it being too much. Do Revenge is everything He’s All That wishes it was. It has a great plot, a great twist, and a cast with amazing chemistry.

I really adored the homages made to 90's teen movies. The 10 Things paintball scene and Max getting exposed for his wrong doings a la Kathryn from "Cruel Intentions" were my favourite shout outs. ❤️

I hope you saw the ending credits scenes. I'm glad they did the ending credits just added the cherry ontop. Even though yes they would've been mad cute their respective couples also had a lot of chemistry and I dig that.

This is one of best movies I have seen on Netflix in a long time. Every character was played extremely well and I loved you talking about the aesthetic because it was everything. Also all of the references they did were great.

This movie was SO GOOD. Like I was expecting to know what was going to happen the whole film but the twist I didn’t see coming at all and it gave it so much more depth! The soundtrack is bomb, the outfits are bomb, the casting is bomb, it feels like a cult classic already

I actually agree about the mass text thing and think In this movie they should have made it a mass airdrop moment because we all know they all have iPhones in that school and airdropping to strangers is so common now in group settings

i really really adore the concept and i think it prompts the audience to examine their own morals and limits so well. When the plot twist was revealed and everything unraveled itself in how intertwined it all was I got so stressed and was contemplating whether I even wanted to continue watching and I think thats perfect because it really causes the individual viewer to ask themselves why they feel uncomfortable at certain points, or where they pull the switch in feeling this iffy about it all. Its so morally grey and I think it really needed to be, there are so many clashing situations and there isn't really a correct right or wrong for any of the characters (except for max thank god he got teared apart), and I think its so well developed in prompting this exploring of your own values and how you determine if something is too far, or if something isn't right. I was so surprised it was a netflix original lmao. I think it's so great how everything was intertwined and tied itself together and the concept of it all being so much more morally complex and the intention of having the viewer really have to examine their own values makes it so much more encapsulating and interesting, like acrually love the concept so much its crazy

I’m with you Trin. I was here for them falling in love at the end. They were both so twisted to me they couldn’t be with anybody else. Plus I love when these obsessive toxic female friendships have a hint of sexual tension in them. Of course I wanna see positive queer relationships but in this movie where everyone was morally gray there was no point sparing us the stereotype of the two leads ending up together. It was full of so many other tropes I wanted it to deliver on this one as well.
