Tip: If you have a high powered blender you can make your own powdered/confectioner’s variety of virtually any preferred sweetener. Just be a bit careful when opening the blender lid after blending, you will have some almost steam like dust floating around. And make sure to do bigger batches since this will yield a more uniform result.

Thank you so much my brother, couldn't make it through the holidays without pecan pie. Cook's Country or America's Test Kitchen says heavy cream in pecan pie stops the syrup from running, I like they're take on recipes because they explorer the science of why an ingredient is there.

Love Cooks Country and America’s Test Kitchen. I think a little heavy cream might work, but in this recipe it was the main ingredient and unfortunately it made something more like pecan praline than pecan pie. It was simply waaaaay too much cream and didn’t really taste like a pecan pie.

Pecan pie was my favorite dessert before starting low carb. Being strictly on a low carb diet for 4 years now, I have not taken a bite of pecan pie or any other sweets for that matter. I have seen several low carb pecan pie recipes, but have yet to try any of them. Thank you for doing this comparison which will make my decision, as to which one to try, a bit easier.

What is your secret to fight the urge & cravings for sweets ? I last a few hours or a day & then I mess up big time ??

When I first started low carb, I failed multiple times precisely because I would allow myself a small cheat snack, which would eventually morph into a cheat meal, then a cheat day, and eventually a cheat week and month. I found that the famous statement from St. Augustine works for me: "Complete abstinence is easier than perfect moderation." I had to come to the realization that if I could have carbs and sugars in moderation, I would never have gotten overweight in the first place. So moderation does not work for me. I had to completely refrain from those substances in order for the cravings to subside. It took nearly a month for me to vanquish those cravings. As far as what I used to assist me in staving off the cravings during that transition period, I found that black coffee works well. While, at first, I found the flavor off putting, now it is my go to beverage to assuage the cravings. I hope that helps. Dr. Robert Cywes talks extensively about carb addiction. I would recommend his interview series on the Low Carb USA KZbin channel.

Weird thing is I love cold black coffee without sugar and just a splash of heavy cream so that will be a challenge to go totally black but I am willing to try. I am a diabetic with sky high blood sugars along with the complications that come with diabetes. I was brought up on lots of starches and high carbs/high sugars as that was cheap and filling for a family with (6) kids but sadly now I am paying the price and have already lost one younger brother to diabetes.

When I lived in the south, I was introduced to pecan pies, and I truly loved the flavor but always found them a bit too sweet. I guess, I just don't have a true sweet tooth. To my delight, I found a recipe where dissolved instant coffee was added to the filling, which successfully curbed the sweetness. I'm assuming that brewed coffee would be probably also a great choice. Just in case some of you like it a bit less sweet.

I made the All Day I Dream pecan pie last Thanksgiving and it was fantastic. I did add more pecans than the recipe called for, and I used salted butter. I also have some butter pecan flavoring that I added in. I LOVE BochaSweet and use it for baked goods that need the sticky, gooey texture of caramelized sugar. It makes a fantastic Flan and Crème Brûlée! Erythritol re-crystallizes after it cools and that’s why the other recipe sets up like a fudge. BochaSweet also makes great buttercream, just powder it in a blender before you use it. They do sell a powder now, but it’s so expensive I just buy the granulated and powder my own when as needed.

I absolutely love bochasweet. It's also a game changer when it comes to keto ice cream. No more bent spoons or ice picks when I want dessert. Ice cream stays soft. No liquor needed for soft scoopable ice cream. Be careful though, it can be overdone and then it'll just never freeze. Have fun😊

Omg!!! The pecan pie was absolutley delicious. For sure the bocha sweet "sugar" was expensive but the pie was yummy. My husband also enjoyed it as well. I baked some apples at the same time my pie was in the oven so I made a bigger batch of the sugar butter mixture that looked like caramel. I then used it to drizzle over ice cream and my apples. The Bocha Sweet is quite good for anything that needs to retain "goo." In my experience, it doesn't set as hard as erythritol. It's just prohibitively expensive, so I wouldn't use it for everyday. However, for special recipes, it can be great.

I wanted to try the Boca sweetener but I’m afraid 😟 after reading reviews of people’s blood sugar going through the roof. Would be interested to know if you experience that. I trust your honesty with it. It’s so expensive to risk it with my now former Diabetic T2 husband. BTW so happy to see you post!!! Absolutely love ❤️ ya!!!!

Thank you SO much for this recipe. I love that you use others recipes and give us the feedback. With Keto it's hard to find the perfect replacement recipe. There are so many and i've tried alot but some just don't taste good. The ingredients although few are real pricey so i hate to waste it. Thank you so much!! I made the All Day I Dream About Food pecan pie exactly as the recipe said. And it turned out so delicious I could not believe it. I refrigerated what was left and noticed the pie is not as good cold, at least to me. So I let it come to room temperature, and then it was just as great as when we first ate it. Great recipe!
