I made this pie for Thanksgiving. It’s really a Keto Caramel Pecan Pie. Mine was so ugly I was not about to serve it the regular way so I cut the best looking parts into bite size pieces and it was a hit! Everyone loved it and we didn’t have to serve dessert later bc we ate it while prepping then after our meal. It makes plenty and it’s satisfying so you don’t want a lot. I highly recommend this recipe! Even though I was impatient & didn’t allow it to cool enough before adding the egg and I had small strips of egg in it it still turned out delicious! Thanks Maya!

Hi, Maya. How do you feel about using one of the store bought Blue Diamond nut crusts with this recipe-they’re made from pecans and walnuts and are about 11 gs of carbs per slice.

Hi Andrea, I'm not super familiar with those or their ingredients. 11g net carbs per slice might add up to higher than you'd want on a keto diet by the time you add the filling (and a meal before the dessert), but if it works for your macros or you're just cutting sugar but not keto, it could work! From a recipe standpoint it should be fine.

Hi, I am a new subscriber. Thank you for this channel and this pecan pie recipe. My husband is a brittle diabetic and he loves pecan pie. I am looking for a way to make food in general safer for him. Food is also a challenge for me, too, as I have multiple allergies, especially to fruits. I noticed on your sweetener bag that it says Monk Fruit. Do you know of a natural sweetener, not fruit based because I don't want to risk anaphylaxis with an unknown fruit, that would meet the needs of my diabetic husband? Thank you for any help with this.

Monk fruit is not usually allergenic but it’s in the melon family, if you’re ok with that then monk fruit is fine (but unlike other melons there are no carbs or calories). If you don’t want to take the chance you can use plain allulose: www.wholesomeyumfoods.com/shop/sweeteners/allulose/allulose-sweetener/ you’d need about 30% more of that to achieve the same sweetness.

I used to be able to eat strawberries without a problem, but not any more. Oranges and grapefruits have caused adverse reactions since childhood, so I avoid them. Hi Alessia, I haven't tried it with stevia drops specifically, but don't think that would work well. The sweetener adds bulk so that's one issue. Another is stevia drops definitely won't caramelize the way Besti does.

The store is out of Swerve granulated sweetener, and I have already tried the recipe with Splenda Allulose which gave off a bitter aftertaste, can I use the Swerve Confectionary Sweetener and if so do I need to double the amount called for?

All forms of Swerve tend to crystallize so I don’t recommend them for pecan pie. You can still try it but the texture is not the best. Don’t double the amount. The sweetener I recommend for this recipe (and really all my baking recipes) is available here: www.wholesomeyumfoods.com/shop/sweeteners/monk-fruit/monk-fruit-allulose-blend/ this is the granulated (normally I do powdered for the filling) but this one dissolves very well so will work fine for both crust and filling (other brands will be gritty in the filling). The powdered is out of stock right now but will be back soon.

I believe allulose is the sweetener that carmelizes like that. The erythrithol in the lekanto cristalizes when it cools down and doesn't brown as well.
