Oh my goodness!!! Growing up in the South, this was a quick meal my Mom would put together often. I haven't made them in years. I follow a low-carb diet and tried this recipe last night, and let me tell you....almost cried. The nostalgia that swept over me was unreal. These salmon patties were sooooo delicious and easy to make! I called my Mom and we laughed over eating them so much back in the day and how good they always were. Thank you so much for this excellent recipe!

Thanks! I made salmon cakes last week. I used pork rinds and egg white for my binder and my spices were onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper and old Bay. I made the patties then used more pork rinds for my breading and fried them up. I've been making these for years but recently started using pork rinds as we're on low carb.

Red onions are good to cut up in bits and add to pattie batter,.....nice flavor and lemon pepper is good instead of the pepper. I only use wild caught red salmon...so much better than pink salmon. I sprinkle some almond flour or coconut flour on both sides of the pattie just before I cook....( My mom dipped her patties in cornmeal) I do NOT FRY...not good for the body,..... so I cook in small amount of oil and they are still delicious. Good on a bed of sprouts, topped with a smear of mayo and sprinkle with chopped green onions or chives,..( cholula is fun too) You are welcome. I love this guy...fun and has some fun and usable recipes.

I had decided yesterday that I wanted salmon patties. Today I was getting ready to put keto salmon patties in the search. Low and behold I get an email that you have uploaded a video for keto salmon patties. I was so happy. I love your channel, so I immediately watched it and printed the recipe. I fried mine in a cast iron skillet in lard. They were as good if not better than regular nonketo patties. My husband was crazy about them. I served them with green beans cooked with ham and deviled eggs. Nonketo husband got tater tots. The perfect meal. Thank you so much for your channel and your recipes. I watch you religiously.

I grew up eating these, and it’s one of my husbands favorite meals. But I make mine pretty simple. I made these tonight...and Oh. My. Goodness....seriously, so freakin good! I had 2....and old habits wanted to creep back in and devour 2 more servings. Now I need to find a good keto tarter sauce...
@Romulux
@Romulux 2 жыл бұрын
Keto Tarter Sauce: 2 Cups Avocado Oil Mayo (I get the one from Costco, it's organic and has no other vegetable oil in it) 2 Tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice (add more to taste) 1 Tbsp Dry Dill Weed 1/2 Cup Minced Dill Pickles of your choice (most relishes have extra preservatives and stuff added so I just use pickles) Mix everything together with a whisk and add sea salt to taste if it needs any. Here's a pro tip: The more lemon juice you add the better, and if you're feeling adventurous you can mince up half of a whole lemon, peel and all, and put that in too. Lemons are great for us, and the whole thing is edible, even the seeds. I buy organic lemons in bulk, keep some fresh to mince up and put in my tuna salad or sardines, then I lacto-ferment the rest in jars using a 10% salt to weight ratio.

So much nostalgia! My grandmother made a living as a fishing guide in South Carolina and used to have fish fries after a successful guided trip. We'd set up the fryer outside (peanut oil all the way), have chunks of fried fish, and she'd make hush puppies, soooo good. The only things I liked onions in as a kid. Now that I'm on the Plant Paradox Diet (similar to Keto except I don't count macros or check blood sugar, but there are also more "no" foods on my list), I've craved fried foods so much. We have cans of salmon and tuna, and enough of everything else in the ingredients list to give it a go, this is on the menu tomorrow!

I just made the recipe with a few subs. In short, delicious!! We didn't have enough salmon so I used 1/3 salmon and 2/3 tuna. We didn't have Old Bay or Cajun seasonings so I used smoked paprika and Creole (I know, those aren't exactly subs, ha) plus a pinch of cayenne powder. Instead of one or the other, I used half celery and half orange bell pepper. I used avocado mayo instead of regular mayo. This was my first meal of the day, so I basically ate half the patties and stared longingly at the rest but forced myself to put them away. No fish taste at all, amazing. They were a little crumbly, I'll either add more almond flour or less tuna next time, and make the patties smaller. There will definitely be a next time! Plus I didn't drain the tuna and salmon well enough, they released quite a bit of moisture in the pan. Refrigerating them for 30 minutes worked really well! Love the way they browned in the pan. I used ghee because we're out of avocado oil. Although I don't like the smell of ghee frying, it adds a satisfying buttery richness to the finished dish, yum. Thanks again for sharing this recipe!

I make my grandma's recipe but substitute the bread crumbs for pork panko, and my mom and aunt said they can't even taste the difference. It's so yummy. Here's my recipe: (I double the recipe, so cut it in half if it's too much. It makes about 8 patties.) •2 cans of salmon , bones and skin removed •½ to 1 cup of pork panko (add to your liking for consistency) •4 eggs •Salt and pepper, to taste •½ cup chopped onion Mix everything together by hand, heat 1 inch of oil in a pan over medium to medium-high heat. Shape the patties and fry them about a minute on each side, or until golden brown. Serve with hot sauce or a dill aioli. 😋

This is 3 years old as I write but quite timely for me. I just began my Keto journey. Lost 15 pounds in the last month and a half. I have some razor clams form Washington state that my brother gave me. They are not in strips. I defrosted them and I had mush. So I drenched them in egg and added enough almond flour to make a patty hold together. Kind of bland but real good at the time. I really liked the way you put this together. I also liked the way you called it tuna at the end of the second segment. It gave me more ideas. I miss the crab cakes I had in Virginia and will try to use this as a way to get back to some comfort food from my past. Currently living in California.

Good to see you are doing well during these times we are in. My mom made salmon cakes all the time when I was growing up...she left the bone and skin in too. When I was old enough to make my own I took the time to remove the bone and skin because I didn't care for the texture the bone imparted...it was too gritty for me. Nowadays I use wild salmon (frozen) cut up into small bitesize pieces to make my salmon cakes...they are so much better to me when using salmon filets. Thank you for sharing your quarantine recipe with us. :)

I make salmon croquettes. We used a muffin tin in my family and baked them. That was a pain to clean so I just form them into balls and cook on a cookie sheet. I use riced cauliflower instead of crumbs. Oddly, the egg is unnecessary. If I want a coating, I roll it in ground hemp seeds.A sauce of mayonnaise and a little ketchup is yummy with salmon croquettes. I’ll have to try your recipe sometime.😋

Oh man! I'm so making these for supper. I've loved these things all my life. Reminds me of Grandma's kitchen. Thank you so much! Love you to pieces. You're such a lifesaver ☺

I normally make salmon patties with an egg, oil and Martha White's Corn Meal Mix and I love them so I was trying to figure out what the binding agent would be. I can totally do almond flour and mayo. Thank you so much!

Thanks for this recipe‼️. I’m 66 years old and salmon patties were one of my favorites as a child, of course what sides we had with the meal were mashed potatoes and green peas.......😜🤪🤣😂.

Wow just Discovered this in December 2020 and they are delicious. My hack to this to it took it up a notch was to put Fat Snax Sea Salt crackers in my food processor and use instead of Almond flour. Non keto people loved it as well.

Watched your video yesterday and made the salmon "croquettes" for dinner. Best I have ever made. Your recipe and tips made the difference. Thank you so much!

Made these for dinner and added relish for my "crunchy" veggies because that was what I had. These come the closest of any keto ones I've tried to the old saltine ones that mom made when I was growing up.

Yes, yes ! I love the croquettes. I grew up on them, too. Great idea to sub with the almond flour. Good post ! Now, here's what i learned one time when I was short on oil. Use your 6" cast iron instead (some folks call it the egg skillet). The oil will be much deeper that way. You can comfortably cook 2 patties at a time. Like you said, it only takes 3 or 4 minutes and you're only frying 1 more batch. Anyway, that's the way I do it. Love your channel, huni ! Keep 'em coming.

I am so glad you did something like this. As you said, this is a great use-what-you've-got dish. That's perfect for times like these of limited grocery trips when what's in the pantry often decides dinner for many.
