I love how Steve selected recipes. There was either a story associated with his pick; a great teaching moment or an unusual ingredient. He was a unique man with a cooking style that appealed to the masses. RIP Steve & Shotgun Red! ❤

I make low country boil frequently; my family loves it. This was the first time I heard of cooking the shrimp separately, so I tried it. Came out even better than usual!! Thanks Red! Your legacy still lives on!!!

Got a birthday party Saturday for 12 out on the deck. Going to follow your recipe completely. (Bought some crawdad, mostly for looks, I’ll eat them. Will do the crawfish in a 3rd pot) And for those with shellfish allergies, I’m doing a small pork shoulder roast. My poor neighbors when they start smelling the smoke earlier in the day and then the low country boil…. I think this is what heaven will smell like.

This is why I so enjoy watching Shotgun Red channel he explains in plain terminology, shares little secrets, and all his recipes are affordable. But I would of went with crayfish, or mud bugs as I call them.

I live in New England and our version of this is a clam bake. Traditionally cooked in a container underground. Usually includes lobster, clams, corn, potatoes and shrimp but lots of variations exist. Lobster's only ~$6-7/lb here. Most people steam or boil it like you did

Great serving tray for a LCB. I use an old Dish Network dish lined with aluminum foil. Roll up a large towel (lengthwise) shape it in to a circle. Rest dish on the towel to stabilize it.

2023-7-26 Wednesday ,, 8:39 PM CST... This is for the ledge... You are adorable... I've learned so much from you.. Example while I was in school home economics they never taught us that no one cup of flour in 1 cup of oil makes a perfect amount of gravy, I cook for an army so I would have to do a lot more than that I'd rather have gravy leftover than none when they want it... I learned something on this program today, you pinch the shrimp it's above the tail in the meat popped out and leave nothing in the tail-end know that but I live in the middle of the country common we don't do all that seafood step cuz all you have to do is hop a boat go out and get it we got to shop for tin Man is it... I also love the pizza that you made you got the recipe from a gentleman in Alaska I believe and I really like that program to but, here's a question for this country boil can I put carrots in their can I put cauliflower in there you know in broccoli there's two you know almost at the very end can I do that is that allowed cuz I I have never ever lived anywhere or been anywhere where they did of country boil shrimp boil or any kind of a boil.. thorny boil I do is a eggs 😁😁😁 I'm going to check to see if you have a story I haven't done that yet I've been fighting with my computer and of course my computer's been winning so there goes one thing, but I'm going to see if I can get some of your red dishes at your store if you have a store thank you the man the myth the legend. 😁😁 Do you ever do live shows ⁉️⁉️ I don't get to see you all the time I think it probably seemed 10 shows and it started during the pandemic... You are very good teacher 😁😁😁❤️

Why can’t you put the shrimp before the sausage and cook it???
@drdrew34 жыл бұрын
The sausage is already cooked so the timing isn’t important. Just add sausage near the end so doesn’t overcook. Most people add shrimp AFTER the heat is turned off. The water is hot enough that the shrimp cook in about 3 minutes. Many many boils ruined by overcooked shrimp
@bradcoffman73954 жыл бұрын
Don't agree with the sausage. Boil it first to bring the grease and salt out of it otherwise your boil will be greasy. After you boil the grease out of it then throw it in the pot and it will absorb the Old Bay much better. RIP Shotgun.
