Lowering Your Car with Lowering Springs

Installing lowering springs on your car is a very good bang for buck modification as you can drop your car a couple inches without having to do much work, and without breaking the bank. You will need to get a wheel alignment after doing this to your car to prevent irregular tire wear.
If you’re looking for a small drop, this is the way to go. If you’re looking to slam your car and adjust your ride quality as well, look into getting coilovers. I’ll throw a link here when I install coilovers.
If you have any questions regarding the video, you know what to do. Thanks for watching!! :)

Your vids are entertaining bub. lol. Seriously. When I was putting lowering springs on my car a month ago i jst took the struts too my mechanic and he swapped out the springs for me $10 a pop. Then ran back home and installed them. Was gonna compress them myself but everyones "warnings" abt how I could lose my life got to my head hahah!

Warning! Be ever so careful with spring compressors. If they slip off you will have a huge metal spring flying around. I haven't heard of anyone dying due to this, but there is a first for everything- don't be the first or anything but alive. Play it safe and have fun modding.

+TheMidnightNarwhal They are meant to compress the springs. The springs are dangerous and could either kill you or really hurt you, if you do it the right way, nothing should happen but I'd rather be safe than sorry and I am sure most people watching the video feel the same way.

You should change the struts especially with an older/higher mileage vehicle if you are adding lowering springs. An aftermarket strut designed for lowering springs would be best. Otherwise, leaving the old strut in will increase wear on them and they are more likely to fail. Plus, the ride will be crap.

The first one being generic for most people is that on the carpet salt from the winter has created a white solid hard surface on the floor carpet. Also for the 8th Gen Bass Rattle can you upload a video on how to remove the backing. Lastly I wanted to install interior lights in the floor of the car and also underglow maybe if you could give us the run down that'd be cool. Thanks M and kepp the videos coming!!

Hi Milan, love your channel, especially because I have a 2.4 8th Gen Accord coupe too. I am thinking about lowering my car at some point but heard from guys on DriveAccord our cars may have issues from lowering. I know a lot of guys complained about vibrations and needing new axles (V6 guys mainly I think). Just wanted to know if you or anyone you knew had any issues with lowering the 8th Gen coupes. I plan on doing coilovers or at least shocks and springs together, not just lowering springs on stock struts.

I helped my friend install ST coilovers on his e36 m3. Biggest pain in the ass. So many problems. Couldn't fit a a socket where the nut attaches to the end link. Couldn't tighten the top hat with the sling compressed. The strut kept spinning. This was a couple months ago.
@milanmastracci

Christian Barreto I'm pretty sure the end link is an 18mm and the top is a 22. If the top keep spinning, take some pressure off of the springs and it should then be able to let loose.

@milanmastracci
@milanmastracci 9 жыл бұрын
harris stone It depends if you have access to an air compressor or not. An air impact gun is where it's at. I have an Ingersoll Rand 2135QTiMax Titanium Impact wrench and its awesome!! Its very light, quiet, and strong. Can't go wrong with it. The only downfall is that its a little expensive. If you don't have an air compressor, an electric impact wrench will also do the job however it won't be able to perform as much nut-busting torque, it will be heavier, louder, but cheaper I bought first an electric impact wrench to find out its drawbacks. If I could do it again, I would just buy the strong air impact gun and not have two guns lol

When I was installing the springs the axle did come out could it be the axle causing the vibration or do I just need a wheel alignment? Would love if you reply thanks!
@milanmastracci
@milanmastracci 8 жыл бұрын
It could be the axles, however if it was mounted and seated properly, it shouldn't be the culprit. Did you get an alignment after lowering it? If not, you should.
@tristanlang9034
@tristanlang9034 7 жыл бұрын
Raphael Francisco it's an alignment issue most likely. Definitely not the axle. If it was clacking and making noise when turning I'd say axle but if shaking then the toe is most likely off from lowering it.

+Alejandro Almodovar If you want to install lowering springs, you can install them on the stock strut, or get new sport struts. The OEM ones will work, however they aren't designed to work about 2 inches lower than where they do with the OEM springs. I've heard that lowering springs CAN damage the strut, so if you're looking to do this, either go with new sport struts if you're worried, or go with coilovers that are designed to work as a whole.

+Lucas Gillenwater The only way to measure, if you get coilovers. If you're running stock wheels and stock suspension, any kind of lowering springs will work no problem.

Where i can find the manufacturer torque for my car?
@milanmastracci

Vinicius Suehara In your vehicle's service manual. You can find all of the torque specfications in there. You can go to your local dealership and pick one up or you can download one online if they are available in a PDF format.

What do you rather coils or lowering Springs?
@milanmastracci
@milanmastracci 9 жыл бұрын
Cesar Feliz Lowering Springs a much better bang for buck modification. They cost about a fifth of what coils cost and lower the car. On the other hand, they are not adjustable in height, you can't change the rebound or dampening which you can if you bought coilovers. If money isn't an option, I would choose coilovers every day of the week

milanmastracci what about ride quality it is better with coils? Or spring and why did you change from coils to Springs? Money is an option but the question is it is worth the extra bucks!
@milanmastracci
@milanmastracci 9 жыл бұрын
The ride quality isn't terrible with springs but coils, you can FULLY adjust it to whatever setting you like. If you can afford coilovers, it is a better buy because you can fully adjust everything, with springs, you cannot change anything. So bottom line is if you can afford it, get coils. :)

I wanna work on my car. I need a floor jack, ratchet set, tool box, air compressor and air guns =(

+Buddy Rydell floor jack and ratchet set are relatively cheap, an air compressor and air gun are not essential, I've been working on cars for 15 years without the use of an air gun, it just makes a little easier that's all.
