I give it a straight A! I hate when people say it looks like a Rivian, it looks like a Bronco, etc. As a former owner of a 73 Scout II am am biased but come on people the design team absolutely nailed this! I reserved both just because these are timeless...

I’m 53 and my very 1st vehicle was a 74IH 100series 4x with a 4spd.! I love that truck, but it had the typical case of body “cancer” that Binders in MY area suffer from. I had to quit driving it because I needed a much more reliable rig. I bought a 4x Tacoma. I currently have over 300k on my Taco and it’s still going VERY strong.

These vehicles are so beautifully designed. They bring real visual excitement and sophistication to a vehicle segment that ranges from the cartoonish to the ultra luxurious. The designs are well thought out and purposeful while promising both ruggedness and sophistication. I love the cabana top! I can’t wait to see the final production models. I would definitely buy both of these vehicles!

One of the subtle aspects of the interior that I just noticed, is that both the shaping and clever choice of leather color (for me) evokes a feeling of wood trim. Hard and soft at the same time. Maybe a weird detail to geek out about, but I love it.

Loved the comment about the interior interface and buttons. The "who has the biggest screen" competition as stated is so true and frustrating. It feels like since Teslas have a giant ipad to control everything there has been this thought that all EV's must follow suit. And while I love the Rivian, their lack of tactile buttons is a bit frustrating. A mix of buttons and screens just seems like the best possible solution.
@nc3826

Thank you for giving us a designer perspective on the new Scout brand. My only minor concern for the brand is that it's not taking advantage of its EV architecture, as much as it could have? To stay true to its heritage. For example it's Frunk is smaller vs Ford and GM. And it will have a solid rear axle. Without a midgate like GM offers. And for interior controls. I would have like to seen integrated controls, something similar to the Rivian scroll wheels, Instead of a separate touch screen and toggle switches. But on most of the major points, such as offering a right sized range extender. Which is sorely needed and past due in the market. And it's elegant, true to its heritage design. Plus all the optional add-ons, such as for farmers. Means that I'll be a unique offering. Can't wait for it to hit the market to see how well it does? And how future iterations will turn out?

Thank you for watching and commenting! Glad you enjoyed the show. You also raise a couple great points. It's very curious that engineers went with a live rear axle. An independent rear suspension gets you better ride and handling as well as more interior space. A midgate would have been a great addition to the Terra, too. - Craig

Would also be interested with his thoughts on the Terrra top of rear quarter character lines that channel the original Scout 80/800. Those were there to simulate a lower belt line on the bed with the pickup top that IH thought would sell more than the full-length Traveltop. (The opposite occurred)

@@LCARSx32 - How do you know it doesn't sell if nobody manufactures a 2-door. The original Scout was a 2-door and minimalist and cheap and they sold plenty. The Lada Niva has a 2-door model and they can't produce enough. It's not that 2-door vehicles don"t sell. Manufacturers want to justify the exhorbitant prices by adding more stuff on a vehicle

Love the video! I subscribed and will be watching more. One minor comment: Check out sketch monkey’s car design reviews. The smooth lines in color just make his videos a little better looking when drawing on the screen over car images. The thin, white scribbled lines get the point across, but they just don’t come across as professional looking. Other than that, rock on with your great content!

It's true, Rivian won't directly make them. But the joint venture between Rivian and Volkswagen focused on developing next-generation electric vehicle (EV) software and electrical architecture Is ongoing. So there is a good chance that Rivian DNA. Will make it into Scout. (Footnote: Ford actually owned part of Rivian for a while and planned on doing the same thing... But Ford simultaneously and ironically ended up using Volkswagen's MEB platform and its disastrous CARIAD software architecture for its European EV models.... If only Farley/Ford would have kept its plans with Rivian and ended it plans with VW? )
