Fun fact about Ridgetop Raptor: Legions was the set that introduced double strike, so this card was one of the first cards with this keyword :D

One thing to note about the lairs is that they don't enter tapped, unlike a lot of other 3 color lands like the triomes
@kwintenkoeter727412 күн бұрын
Yeah, you could tap land for mana, play the Ruins, bounce the tapped land, and immediately use the Ruins. But since it eats your land drop, you're still on the same number of lands next turn. Good for fixing, but effectively you've just delayed your mana development even worse than a tapland would.
@adiuntesserande689311 күн бұрын
@@kwintenkoeter7274 But in a landfall deck, that simply guarantees you'll have a land drop the next turn as well.
@mfsoab11 күн бұрын
@@kwintenkoeter7274 You could also not bounce anything, tap the lair in response to it's own trigger to float a mana and then sac it. Not saying that it is a good thing, but a quirky little interaction possibility
@PopoTCG11 күн бұрын
@@adiuntesserande6893 I just use the guild bouncelands for that. Forever bouncing themselves to trigger landfall
@onura4611 күн бұрын
Most Landfall decks run cards that let you play multiple lands per turn, as well. It's a no-brainer if you've got that board state.

The advantage of Spirit Link is that it is pseudo-removal. If you put it on an opponents creature it will deal damage and you will then gain the life back(as long as you don't hit 0). It let's you nullify one threat... sort of.

One neat thing about spirit link in this limited format was that it could also function as pseudoremoval on an opponent's creature

You've noted how bad a lot of the cards are in the set, and that's kind of the point! The set is definitely a throwback to old Magic where the creatures were bad and the spells were pretty good. I really did enjoy this Limited format because it felt so old school in a way I'd never experienced before.

I see we're ready to sink our teeth into Dominaria Remastered and also memories of Chicago. But also Matt put in the exactly correct amount of Sandstorm and I appreciated it

Terminal Moraine is actually from Planeshift. It's not very good, but it's definitely mana fixing of a variety. Pretty sure he was thinking of Thawing Glaciers from Alliances, which is an appropriately glacial, but repeatable, proto-Evolving Wilds
@violetto321912 күн бұрын
my Invasion block + extras cube has a Moraine, but there's also the painlands and DMU common duals in there too, so TM is mostly there for period accuracy
@Kryptnyt12 күн бұрын
I saw a nonzero amount of people running Terminal Moraine in casual mtg when I first started on MTGO around alara block release, and being able to tap for mana puts it above evolving wilds/ terramorphic for me. Shire Terrace is probably dunking on the card the most offensively, but also Field of Ruin and Demolition Field are actually pretty respectable cards. I still run a Thawing Glaciers from time to time though, that card is still quite powerful.

first of all, I had to pause the video and get my full dosage of Sandstorm before I could continue. Second of all, I believe the art is depicting the Fallaji attempting to flee a sandstorm that has engulfed a dragon engine.

You certainly do probably want Treva's Ruins, it's extremely good untapped fixing with some small sub-synergy. Rock solid in a draft and better than people expect elsewhere.

I want Wizards to bring back lairs and make them good. Have lands that have ETB effects and have landfall creatures. Also toss in a few “for the number of lairs you control” effects. Something like each opponent loses 5life for each lair you control. I know it can work, and I want it so much.
