I did the same with my 1965 LeMans. Only thing different I used spindles from a '70 F body for a wider stance and better cornering. C5 Zo6 brakes front and rear. Put a 1980 TA sway bar on the front and hit some corners you'll love it. Good Job!!!!

Brake hose adapter..3/8-24 thread on the old school 10 bolt brake line, atleast the one I have.. And M10x1.0 threads on the 98-02 camaro rear brake hoses, so you need AGS part BLF-29C.. Advance has them autozone should too... It says also on the box Edelmann part# 270300 or Weatherhead part # 1443 are the cross references.. Its 3/8-24 inverted female to M10X1.0 inverted male..you're welcome

I got an issue with my ls1 brakes swap I'm not having any success in bleeding the brakes on my 69 camaro project . First when i tried to bleed the front calipers no fluid were going into the calipers so I got a new proportioning valve now I've successfully blended the rear drums and the front fluid comes out but when I try to bleed the front the brake fluid just drips no pressure when opening the bleeder . The peddle doesn't go all the way down when the bleeder is open on the ls1 calipers not sure whats going on and trying to see if you have any recommendations.
@InvincibleExtremes
@InvincibleExtremes 6 жыл бұрын
louis sacramento we had something similar with my friends 70 Chevelle. Have someone floor the pedal and crack the fitting open at the master cylinder, and do it 5 or 6 times. Once the master is bleed it will have enough pressure to actually push fluid to the calipers. We spent an hour trying before that and got almost nothing... just dribbles

@InvincibleExtremes
@InvincibleExtremes 9 жыл бұрын
Its an adapter from metric bubble flare hoses on the newer gm hoses to the old standard thread and flare gm brake line... 3/8 sae thread to 10x1 metric bubble flare i think, but triple check and get the exact adapter your vehicle may need. Also keep in mind i later sold and installed these exact brakes on my friends 74 nova and then installed 06 corvette brakes on the 67 tempest.... you might want to consider that route if looking for a more serious brake setup... check out the corvette brake swap video, its a little newer on this exact playlist.

yeah, you need the rotors, some longer studs, and the brackets from brp hotrodding. you will also need the brass adapter to use the 98 camaro brake hoses. autozone will have it. for a master cylinder you need either the stock disc/drum master cylinder or the corvette master from a 69-77 corvette with 4 wheel disc and manual brakes... you will also need a disc disc proportioning valve

I have a 68 el Camino with all drums, and a 96 z28. Since the LT1 is shooting craps (plus requiring emissions tests in StL), I'm entertaining the idea of swapping everything of use to the Camino; my first car with has been sitting for over a decade. Did you need to modify the drum spindles for the Camaro brakes? I've heard of modifying them for discs, so is that for the factory style calipers (69-72 single pistons)?
@InvincibleExtremes
@InvincibleExtremes 9 жыл бұрын
stlchucko if you swap the brakes off the 96 camaro, you need to only modify the hubs themselves, that applys no matter what disc brakes you will you. The good news is that not only do you NOT need to modify the spindles, but you wont even affect the alignment... the rear disc brakes will bolt right up, but the front will need an adapter bracket. The video here shows the bracket needed for the 98 camaro brakes, so i'm not sure where you would source the lt1 96 style bracket, you can always make one i guess... but yes the same things will aplly. Good luck, and thanks for watching.
@stlchucko
@stlchucko 9 жыл бұрын
It appears that the spindle/knuckle on the LT1 cars is different than the LS1. I guess it would pay to be patient and wait to acquire funds for wheels/tires to clear the larger brakes rather than waste the extra cash on a brake setup I'd end up replacing anyway. I was kinda hoping to get it on the road with the 15" rallies quicker. Maybe I'll just freshen up the drum system for cheap just to make it drivable, and remind myself how crappy drums are. I really like the idea of removing discs without the hubs; the main reason I was entertaining the idea.

Now once I get wheels to clear em, I'm robbing stuff off my 96. The rears aren't as big as the 98-02 stuff, but a 15" wheel will clear them; just in case I have a dumbass attack and want to put slicks on it.

Hey bro how can I get the instructions on how to install the 98 rear disk brakes on my 1972 Buick skylark?? I understand that they are a lil different
@InvincibleExtremes

they are the exact same for the 64-72 years. this is the video for it.

is there any specific parts that i would need to make it work?
@InvincibleExtremes
@InvincibleExtremes 8 жыл бұрын
+Roguestatus650 yeah, an adapter plate. brp hotrods sells them, and so do many others. google it, fairly easy to find. kore3 sells parts as well. you will need longer wheel studs too

Invincible brother where did you get the drum hubs from??
@InvincibleExtremes
@InvincibleExtremes 10 жыл бұрын
BRP hot rods sells them with the bracket kit. Keep in mind that your drum can be pressed off your drum hubs and the hubs can then be turned down to fit the 12" ls1 rotors. also keep in mind that 13" corvette brakes will clear your stock hubs without any mods, check out my corvette disc brake swap how to video and see for yourself ;-) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4nHnZZogpWnoK8

I got them with the bracket kit. Don't have a lathe to turn them down. I did however press in longer studs myself.

@InvincibleExtremes

Yes, they run anywhere from $50 for a cast iron corvette master to $200 for a nice aluminum one. Also i highly suggest a wilwood adjustable proportioning valve. I have a video on it somewhere, look it up, well worth the 80 bucks or so...

Will 97 camaro brakes work with the bracket
@InvincibleExtremes
@InvincibleExtremes 9 жыл бұрын
in theory it should because the 97 camaro guys bolt on 98 and up brake to their cars no problem, but not sure why you would want that... 98 brakes are better and are actually practically the same price. also, check out Kore3 for their brackets, I've had great results from them, i used their bracket to install 13" corvette brakes on this tempest after selling these camaro brakes to a buddy with a 74 nova. thanks for watching

I was told on a 98 the smallest tire you could run was a 17" and I was wanting a smaller front rim to keep the look old school but after digging around a little more I found out on the 98 you can run a 16" rim plz carrect me if I'm wrong so ill no. Verry good vid and thinks for the info man
@InvincibleExtremes
@InvincibleExtremes 9 жыл бұрын
casey melton yes, 16 inch wheels will give you the look you want without sacrificing braking. the factory wheels on a 98 are in fact 16" wheels. So i figure a set of 16 torq thrusts would look good... ;-)

I know I am commenting on a 3 year old video, but...Maaco, bro. Cheap ass paint job that will fade in a couple of years, but even faded it will look better than flat back spray paint. 300 bucks, and for the first year...it will look like real paint! After that, it will just look like old faded paint but...hey, its a cheap way to make them look a little better. Oh, and once it fades...you can make it shine again by rubbing it down with power steering fluid. Finally, with a cheap Maaco paint job, do NOT opt for any metallic colors. These paint jobs fade, and metallic hues look a lot worse when faded.

Kennedy McGovern no, what I'm saying is I've been doing body work this entire time... one part of the body at a time. but then repainting it the same flat black... so people think it's the same crap but in reality it's constantly getting straighter and straighter and less and less rusty...
