I love this song! I am so happy Chinese music is finally being more prominent in the vocaloid community. Traditional themed songs like this really bring a nostalgic feeling to my ears!

The part where there's writing isn't translated so i'll try to translate it in this message. It's about the story behind the song. Sorry in advance for my horrible English. So here goes: In the north at the city of Chang An, there was a man that really loved the lotus that was in his garden. The lotus than reincarnated as a young women for her master and followed him everywhere, never separating from him. They fell in love and were very happy together. She was beautiful, but as we say, the more beautiful you are, the shorter is your life. When winter arrived, her soul disappeared and the man could never see her again. Sorry again for my horrible English.

Looking at the moonlight on the leaves see the red lotus in her glow for all to see Look at the bluestone where we turned free The pavilion by the sea see the red lotus painted for thee Years have passed, But the song I danced for you stays in my dreams Look at the year's, blame my longing glee The pavillon by the sea You were wearing white and mine was vermillion see I Felt bitter as I danced for you gracefully Even though I was greedy,you sat silently The pavilion by the sea Just like before, we recalled our glee I couldn’t say farewell to you as dawn turned free distant as the red fog on the trees The Pavilion by the sea Who was wearing white and who was vermillion see Who was playing songs and who was dancing to these Who was greedy, now the river sits silently The Pavilion by the sea Great Pavilion by the sea
Seriously though, if this turns into a Chinese anime I would definitely watch it!!!

I've posted a translation of the words shown in the middle of the song four years ago, but here's a second attempt at translating it! Enjoy~ 100 “li” (one “li” is around 500 meters) to the north from the city of Chan’an, a house stood in the midst of its prosperity. The house was gorgeous, bright and clean, and was adorned with gold and pearls. Music resounded in this house and the lotus would always be blooming, displaying its beauty and grace. The master of the house loved it dearly, and in order to repay him for his love, the lotus turned itself into a human and accompanied him wherever he went. The two beings harboured romantic feelings towards each other and would muse over each other during the night. Their feelings were mutual and shared but unfortunately, the beautiful woman was short-lived (this metamorphically means that beautiful things don’t last long). As the given time slipped away, the red lotus passed away. Even though the master of the house was deeply saddened by her death (the string of words describing his sadness literally translates to “his soul was drawn/pulled from his body and his dreams were cut/broken. The first part is an expression to say that the person is always in a daze and not “there”), he never saw the red lotus again. Apologies if some meaning was lost while translating! As the paragraph is very poetic, I tried to translate it as accurately as I could (I did it pretty much verse to verse). I've realized that in my first translation, I said that "her soul disappeared once winter came", which is probably how I interpreted the ending at that time. My second translation is much more literal than the first, so you can interpret it the way you see it best ^^

im praticing singing in chinese for the first time pinyin is super helpfull even though i dont know what x would sound like but its still an awesome song
@saberbutterfly9 жыл бұрын
princess chan "x" sounds like "sh" when you spell words such as "sheep" or "sheet", you may heard of the expression "xie xie" which means "thanks" in Chinese. There are many videos about Pinyin on youtube, it would be really helpful if you can have a look. Cuz in Pinyin there are some special rules about the phonetic symbols that are very misleading to westerners. Just like "x","q","ü","eng" and "ang" etc. Once you get it, it's not hard at all

I'm interested in any native/fluent Chinese/Mandarin speakers if they could understand what she's singing without the written part in the Video, purely by listening. How close is the Vocaloid to getting all the correct tones and sounds in order to make the correct word?
@TheCherryshin9 жыл бұрын
+Jack Tracy: there's nothing wrong with the vocaloid 's pronunciation, it's just ... weird. Imagine the voice of a baby doll, it doesn't have the normal flow and human tone which makes it sound more robot-ic. Sorry if this doesn't make any sense but it's hard to explain
@coldplayhetaly9 жыл бұрын
Zoe K From an English perspective, the Eng Vocaloids do sound like how you described. Some words aren't fully pronounced and some stress marks are off, is it like that? I wonder if the Japanese are the same way.
@TheCherryshin9 жыл бұрын
+Jack Tracy: I know what you mean. English is my second language and I studied linguistics in English so I understand why you feel like the tone are off. i would say stress marks and tone can never be perfectly prounounce when you sing in Chinese (mandarin, cantones) and Vietnamese. In English we don't have the tone markers so it sounds perfectly fine, but it's pretty normal for songs in chinese to sound pretty "off" like this because you either have to sacrifice the meaning (by using difference words) or the tone of the song's lyrics. i don't speak Japanese so I cant comment on that sorry.
@TheCherryshin9 жыл бұрын
+Jack Tracy: one more important thing is that vocaloid is actually synthesized voice of a real person. So I am positive that the pronunciation is perfectly fine, it just lacks that normal human 'sound'.
@coldplayhetaly9 жыл бұрын
Zoe K Plus it also depends on how well they've been tuned.
Looking back upon that place, where those flowers shone under the bright moonlight Gazing up, upon the figure of a red lotus - for who were those slender sleeves fluttering for? Looking back upon that place, it was on the stone steps where you suddenly turned to me Near that beautiful waterside pavilion Looking back upon that place, where the graceful lotus seemed painted in vermilion As the years pass, I vaguely remember that melody that I danced to Looking back upon that place, each passing year do I resent this longing to return Near that beautiful waterside pavilion As always, you wore those pure white clothes while I dressed in a scarlet skirt As I danced for you, I began to taste the bitterness of longing As I obsessively loved yet hesitated, you simply stood idly by Near that beautiful waterside pavilion As before, I would lean on you, and together, we would reminisce about those days Red lotus, I wanted to bid farewell, but with tears, I simply stood idly by Somehow, you were as ethereal as a misty red haze Near that beautiful waterside pavilion Tell me, who was worn in white? And who was dressed in red? Who stroked the strings of a zither? And who was seen dancing to the red lotus prose? Tell me, who obsessively loved yet hesitated? Without you, the pond has all but withered Near that beautiful waterside pavilion That same beautiful waterside pavilion
Everyone: This song has such beautiful lyrics. Me: WhY cAn'T i SeE tHe SuBtItLeS?!

Basically The man took her for granted When winter comes He regret not realising the winter will come (As in either not preparing to emsire its survival or cherishing her presence more) More meaning can be derived but from my opinion is apart of thr truth of beauty.
