A lot of you guys either don't know or forget that the Chinese start their lifters young with technique training, and Lu started relatively late (18 or so). He was originally a track athlete. By this video, he's about 35 or so. If any of us were to train that consistently for that amount of time, developing technique and building specific explosive strength around it, imagine where we would be. I think it's a cop-out to automatically go to, "Oh yeah, they're doping", not taking into account the amount of focused effort and hard work that goes into that type of training to perform at that level.

Drugs can make anyone remarkably stronger nonetheless they cant make you the best without genetics,hard work and experience. That being said, Lu is almost 40. @sergiolera64262 жыл бұрын
well, Olympic lifting is not about max strength. It's about being good in the Olympic lifts (snatch and clean&jerk) that require strength but also speed, explosiveness, coordination elasticity, and are very technical. There is no point in deadlifting 400kg if you cannot clean 200kg (for example). For Olympic lifters, exercises such as deadlift or squat are just conditioning exercises (usually done at the end of the training session).
@sergiolera64262 жыл бұрын
Powerlifting is about being good in squat, bench, and deadlift (which are more basic and more dependant on max strength than the Olympic lifts) so for powerlifters lifting more weight in those exercises is their primary goal.
@sergiolera64262 жыл бұрын
Strongman is about strength events like farmer's walk, pull a truck, lift stones, and so on, but they also usually have a max deadlift or a deadlift for reps event, so for them being good at deadlifting is also one of their primary goals (besides the deadlift is probably the "gym exercises" with more carryover to the strongman events).

He can clean ~200-210kg. If you could deadlift 230 kg you would still be nowhere near a 200 kg clean. Its about specificity he doesnt need to deadlift a lot nor is it worth his effort.

Merc Arat: The reason he was reluctant on deadlifting is not because of him being weak but because back in 2019 he suffered from a severe chronic lumbar spine strain that gave his vertebrae permanent damage. However... He is still going strong and he's about to turn 37 years old in a couple months. So to sum it up your comment is weak.
