I had a 1995 oldsmobile royal 88 that had a stuck valve and i dumped since of the MMO and it fixed it and ran great. Had the same issue on a genie boom lift like a 4 cylinder gas engine out of a ford ranger but worse. It was running on like 2 cylinders but once I dumped MMO in it fixed it and I still use the lift to this day. I do use the Lucas also but I do like the MMO better. Honestly I love the smell of the MMO

MMO has more solvents, so it cleans better. ULSD is hard on diesel fuel injection systems because it removes lubricity, so adding MMO can only help lubricity. It actually makes it more attractive to me for diesel use.

I've used both and still do all the time - I have also used more solvent based cleaners like Liqui Moly Jectron and those work great but I think they can be a little too strong if used on only 1/2 tank. The good thing about Lucas is that you can't really overuse it because it isn't solvent based, it just lubricates the fuel system. I've added a full bottle to only a few gallons with no problems at all. I mainly use MMO in the crankcase.

Well, I had to drive several hours to Denver so I decided to try one. I have a 06 Crown Vic P71 with 200k miles. I used 2 Lucas deep clean, 3 Lucas high mileage fuel system cleaners, and 1 Lucas octane booster(1 with each fill up) in the past 2 weeks. It seems to have increased my mpg by a bit. Wish I had real numbers to show for it, but I didn't keep track as well as you! :)

Thanks for the feedback. The good news is; These products only provide a temporary effect on fuel economy. Once you discontinue use, your vehicle will return to it's "original", or "baseline" MPG. How long? It's hard to say. Based on my testing, I estimate 3 tankfuls of plain untreated fuel will "wash away" the lubricity effect on the fuel injectors, valves, valve seats, upper cylinder walls, etc. (especially with 10% Ethanol Gasoline, 100% pure gasoline not so much). So after 3 tankfuls of untreated fuel, you'll have the opportunity to measure your "untreated MPG". After you obtain that baseline figure, your ready to measure your "treated MPG". -Chuck

Mmo did cause a check engine light to come on in my 2013 ram 5.7 when I ran it too rich. After that tank was burnt the light went back out. With that being said I love the stuff. It soaks into metal. Test it by putting metal into a tub of it. I quit putting it in my fuel because I heard it was hard on your exhaust converters. I do mix it in to my engine oil and it has done well for the last 100k miles ( time will tell) .

So, the emissions sensitive equipment they are talking about is for newer (2011 and up) diesel truck. The emissions equipment in them (EGR, catalytic converter, and especially the DPF and SCR) is what is so sensitive to the increased amount of sulfur in fuel. It causes a poor regeneration and when it does regenerate, it creates more Ash and soot that plugs them up quickly. However, if you have an "off road" diesel, you'll be fine running it. And actually, having the additional sulfur in the fuel lubricates the high pressure fuel pump much better. Research diesel CP4 failure, and see what I mean. Only in the U.S. where we have ULSD do these pumps fail so heavily. In other countries where the sulfur content is still high they don't have it like that. Great video though, I appreciate your scientific approach to it.

Chuck, based on your comments on the strong minty aroma that MMO has, I would think that you will be using Lucas in the future. I was in Walmart yesterday, and had the gallon size Lucas in my hand and was very tempted to purchase it, but remembered a comment by a Lucas and MMO user and he said that Lucas got very thick in very cold weather. It is only mid November, and we have already had several nights with lows about 20 degrees F. I always have at least 3 bottles of MMO in a box in my trunk with 4 to 6 ounces in each one. I like to put the MMO in the tank at the gas station just before I pump the gas. That way, I feel the MMO is getting better mixed with the gas. I noticed the Lucas is now $25.97 a gallon at Walmart, and I might buy a gallon when I go back down to Florida with some warmer weather. I have never had any issues with MMO in my trunk in very cold weather. Maybe you could do a little experiment for me, and put some Lucas in a plastic bottle and put it in your freezer for a few hours. Then after a few hours, pour the Lucas into another container as if you were putting it into the gas tank to see how thick and fast it pours. If you do put Lucas in the freezer, remember to tell your wife or girlfriend that the Lucas is not gravy for the Thanksgiving turkey. LOL Frank

I've used MMO for a number of years now and haven't had bad results with it. Though I found in a 20-gallon tank, 6 oz seems to be a good mix rate which is 3 oz/10 gallons. In my 2000 Dodge Caravan with a 3.0L engine, it seemed to run a bit off when I ran the higher ratio, but when I cut it back, it ran like a champ. I got 27 mpg with that van. Then there is also the side benefit of additional lubrication provided by the MMO, like the video noted.

Great video on cost analysis on gas treatment. I personally haven’t used either one of your test subjects (I’ve used Techron and Sea Foam) but your detailed cost comparison caught my interest. You obviously did a very thorough job on it. To add, I think that to make a decision to treat or not and which one to use if you want to treat, you have to consider the total cost of the gas and the treatment after 15k miles. Yes, the Lucas is cheaper but the MMO gives you better mpg (less fuel used). So, using your figures, the total cost for gas + Lucas treatment is $$2957 and the MMO is $2963. So the actual savings in using Lucas is $6 not $62. But your figures show that adding gas treatment still saved you money compared to no treatment.

Right on Marc, Thanks for stopping in, and the kind words. I thought you aviation guys preferred TC-W3; www.walmart.com/ip/seort/16795065 It’s cheaper, and more “concentrated”. Keep in mind Lucas Fuel Treatment is unpourable around freezing temperatures, and the MMO flows just fine all the way down to -20℉. Any brand, or type of “snake oil” is going to add lubricity to the fuel. Some people even use waste engine oil, or discarded fast food french fry oil, (I read they filter it first). The trick is figuring out which works best for your intended application, and the optimal mixture ratio. -Chuck

Great videos, really appreciate your advice and time spent helping. I fill up at Sam's club here in baton rouge, LA... currently @ $1.91 / gal 🖕😎 ... I am thinking about using the MMO to help lube the fuel pump gaskets and get some better economy than my current 22 mpg. I have an 07 marquis that I drive @ 70 mph for 150 miles/day commuting. Since I am putting so many miles on the car, do you think MMO will eventually do any damage to the catalytic converter? I have heard that an engine burning oil will hurt the cats🐯?

Hey J, 150 miles x 5 days a week is 750. 750 miles a week is 3,000 a month. At 22MPG, you would use up a gallon of Lucas Fuel Treatment in 3 months. I would try the Lucas first. The price just jumped to $26/ Gallon on Amazon, and Walmart. Also try using using your cruise control when ever possible. It really helps boost the MPG's. I've also heard oil in the exhaust stream will damage catalysts. Keep me posted. -Chuck

@ J penni I started using MMO in the gas of my 2002 Lincoln Town Car and my 2002 Chevy box truck back in 2016 at the suggestion of my mechanic who had just replaced the fuel pump in my truck. He said the MMO will lubricate the fuel pump and if used as directed, will not harm the catalytic converter. I have been using MMO for 3 years at 4 ounces for every 10 gallons of gas in both vehicles with no issues with the cats. Since using MMO in my Lincoln, my highway mpg has increased an extra 1.5 to 2 mpg, if not a little more. I am actually saving money using MMO with the increase in mpg, plus the added cleaning and lubricating benefits that MMO provides. I am guessing that your 2007 Marquis has the same 4.6 liter engine that my 2002 Lincoln has. I would think that if you used MMO on a regular basis, you would eventually see an increase in the highway mpg in your car. The $1.91 gas price is great. The best price that I have recently seen here in Maryland is $2.19. I was happy to get $1.99 gas at a BP station in South Carolina on a recent trip from Florida to Maryland. Frank

Had to replace O2s and went head and used MMO again and it damaged them again. Because of being on my 2nd set of O2s damaged I came to the conclusion that it was indeed MMO(Marvel Mystery Oil). Right on TP, Thanksf for watching. You are correct. The current price for the Lucas Gallon at my local Walmart is $30.18; www.walmart.com/ip/seort/45819324 - Based on my records, and driven mileage these snake oils save $100 annually in fuel cost. But, I should probably come clean, and tell you that I don't use them to save money. I'm using them in the hopes to prevent rust in my fuel tanks, and prolong the life of my fuel pumps. Due to the negative effects of ethanol in our gasline supply, (E10). In my region 100% pure gasoline is not available, so I have to purchase the watered down 10% ethanol version. It's difficult to make a KZbin video experiment quantifying the results of rust build up, and fuel pump replacements. So I chose to just show the fuel econony aspect of these products. How long was your "pre-planned loop" for the mph test? The longer the test loop, the more reliable your data will be.
