Ryan, Pull over! This is the grammar police. At 21:40, The Lucid doesn't drive "...as good as the Tesla...", it drives as '...well as the Tesla.' (It's a good job, well done not a well job good done.) And incidentally, you've done a good job of comparing and contrasting the Lucid & the Tesla. My only nit to pick is I would suggest when you're pointing to various items, describe and say what you're pointing at. Example; The 3 distinct zones of the dashboard you could describe as; Left, Middle & Right. And one last comment: Car reviews are notorious for colorful & descriptive language to convey the emotive aspects of the car. Your auditory style comes across like you're a Preachers' Son. Please, keep up the good work!

Good review. The Dream edition cars were similar to a "Founders Series" and are no longer being made. Those first edition cars do seem to have more little issues with trim and squeaks. The Air GT (same features but 'only' 800hp) I received about a month ago is flawless and dead silent other than the low-speed motor sound that I too find quite appealing. A major feature not mentioned is the ridiculously fast charging speed. Plugging in at 10-15% I get 22 miles per minute, adds 200 miles faster than a restroom break and buying a soda for the road. I got an OTA update last night that supposedly improves the nav and addresses a number of bugs. Hopefully it launches more quickly [EDIT: "Hopefully the *software* launches more quickly..." The car itself launches dramatically, almost painfully quickly] because that can be pretty slow. The car will drive before the big screen is loaded so if you have to hop in and go, that works.

The car goes on sale in Europe later this year. Price and warrantee will likely be different there. Production will be slow until the factory expansion is finished. construction is ongoing (see "BearsWorkshop" on KZbin to see that), but pre-ordered cars are shipping today. Sold out until mid-2023. See LucidMotors dotcom for some cool configuration tools and graphics and to see more details. Polestar has sold over 55,000 Polestar 2 cars to date - more than Lucid and Rivian. Polestar plans to produce 290,000 cars by 2025. Polestar 3 should be as popular as Tesla's Model Y. I made a reservation for the pure version a while back before they raised the price for 10k. After tax credit that one is like 70k. That puts it in an interesting spot. Range is a tad better than base model s, is only RWD and is much slower, but it's 30k cheaper and does not force one to use a yoke. I do think with the recent price increase the lucid loses much of its competitiveness though. But it is always good to have alternatives and the deposits are fully refundable

@@chidorirasenganz Gimmicky? You know what’s gimmicky - throwing everything except the turn signal onto a central ipad screen so you have to wade through a whole bunch of menus just get your climate control to work; or creating a solution where there was no problem by replacing the steering wheel with a yoke. Whose bright idea was that? (Rhetorical question). And don’t even get me started on the M3’s lumpy, bumpy, jarring and noisy ride.

@@chidorirasenganz I’ve logged over 120,000 miles in three Teslas I OWN, yes, all three of them, over the last five years. None of them are the Model 3 or the Model Y, though I’ve rented both. I've given some serious thought to mixng my Techno stuff in the Tesla. The stereo in Teslas was a big draw for me. Definitely, the best I've heard.

Awesome, I'm a Tesla owner myself but I hope Lucid becomes successful. Competition is always good for consumers. Also, the Tesla software was also very laggy when the first cars were released. Try out an old Model S and you'll aee 😓

There’s lots of competition already and been for the past 10 years.

Ford’s Mach E is a joke. You can’t even build one on their site and the guy at the Salt Lake City dealership laughed when I asked, said they aren’t even taking orders until August 2023, and said they’ve only sold 10 this year (it’s now June). What a joke.

2 serious things wrong. one: the trunk should be a lift back with larger opening. The opening is extremely narrow. two: the nav doesn't show SC/EV network.

You cant fix slow or lagging screens with software, it's chip driven, and would require great chips to begin with. If anything software updates will just make evrything slower, and sluggish, not faster and crisp. Thus the advantage of Tesla chips with Nvidia, they are future proof for what they do.
@GetOffMyyLawn2 жыл бұрын
Software can be optimized to improve performance. The use of scripting tools like LUA are great for writing UI software quickly, but performance can be bad. The Nvidia chips you talk about are used for the image processing for the self driving functions.

I think version 2 of 3 will be nicer. Feels like design needs refinement.. more minimalism in the interior needed. It's a turn off to have dumb software though
@ritira20mila2 жыл бұрын
More minimalism for me means less software. Having physical controls already is a dealbreaker vs the Tesla. the best car for me would have no rattles and close to nothing software. I already get too much software at work and on my cell phone, I don't want it also in my car. I want a car with no central screen at all.

My opinion is it just simply looks boring. It’s design to be aerodynamic but it makes it look dull. Who wants to pay $100,000 plus for a car that doesn’t stand out, inspire, look sexy!?
