**Full disclosure** - this episode happened mostly by coincidence; we both happened to be at the same event, and for road drives you typically need a driving parter (not enough cars for every outlet to have their own), so Jason agreed to be in the video. That said, I'd love to get your honest feedback on it. *If* coincidentally we are are at future events together, I'm happy to try and make it happen again, if folks like the format. What would you want to see happen differently next time? And to those who watch the whole video, you the MVP, thanks!!

As an engineer with the flawed engineer brain, I love the authentic, unscripted banter about the Air and its unbelievable successes as well as the discussion of Lucid's uncertain future as a new player in the automotive world. Great energy, first time only listening, then watched it again, back-to-back! Just a 2 % gripe: Jason the driver should Jason the passenger finishes his points sometimes. Examples: Handling: “Like a hooligan, but it doesn’t bite!”. (23:32) Great quote, give it room to breathe. Infotainment “I don’t want it to be irritating” (29:09). Same. Just give the passenger 3 more seconds to finish his drive. It is a bit easier to follow and lets both of you shine a bit more. And that is the only negative after watching it back-to-back. They are forced by the rules of business to do exactly what they are doing. Luxury cars make the quickest ROI for manufacturers. Bottom feeder cars are needed to bolster the long term bottom line as well, but that takes longer, hence the Tesla Model S first, then the Model 3 and Y. Ford did the Model T, in any color you wanted, but all at the same time, black. But that market was there waiting for that product. The timing was impeccable. That can’t be done right now. Remember though, that when the Model S was the most important car to come out since the Model T, said the major magazines. I agree.

Honestly this is the perfect combo. Cammisa brings in a little more humor and seems to extract more from your as well. He also adds a dose of emotion both around a car and brand which. That transforms an object into a story. It gives a more complete picture compared to an overly pragmatic mechanical approach which obviously everyone here also deeply enjoys. Diving into the mechanics satiates the inner nerd and helps inspire creativity in your viewers own life. A driving force for turning your army of 8 year olds into tomorrows Lucid 2.0. Regarding the difference between the Sapphire and the Plaid with some small differences they are very similar in the straight and on the track as far as actual times. The rest is subjective feelings. Whether the price difference is worth it highly depends upon the buyer. There are certainly a lot more people who can afford $90k vs. $250k. They're inseparable aspects. If you spend three times as much as you charge, when your competitors spend 80% of what they charge, it's much easier to provide higher quality. But unsustainable quality is... unsustainable. Compromises have to be made or they will go bankrupt, like most car brands in history.
@newtonfirefly358410 ай бұрын
@@Muskar2 You both lack the information, knowledge that Lucid designs, develops, manufactures, produces every electric motor for Tesla and Lucid. Tesla purchases all of their components from other manufactures, producers. Only their S/W is developed within Tesla along with the robot manufacturing implementation, with assistance; Both of these have serious issues. Tesla has "Globalist/Elite" backing as do Lucid, Rimac, etc. Elon Musk is among their 'puppets', at least since PayPal with Peter Thiel; co-founders. I feel like there's a reckoning coming for Lucid and all observing this. If you want to build a technology company you need to be engineering **first**, that's right you need to be engineering first, not engineering only. That's what made Tesla so successful.

You guys were driving one of five cars Lucid produced to give the media and others for testing and evaluation. My son-in-law works at the plant in Casa Grande, AZ where they are built. He was one of the last humans to go over and make sure everything was perfect on all five cars. When they sold the first Saphire to a real customer, he was assigned to install the front and rear windscreens to make sure they were as perfect as could be without damage (long story there) along with checking the entire car. His only complaint is he hasn't been able to drive one more than a few feet inside the plant. The SUV is coming soon. I hope Lucid stays in business.

Thanks for sharing! Neat that your son-in-law works at the plant, tell him I said hello!

Lucid Motors is now controlled by the Saudis, so don't worry... those petrodollars will keep them afloat.

Any hint if the lucid gravity will get the sapphire power?

Excellent piece. Lucid should give both of you a lot of credit because prior to this, I didn't think that much about so called luxury or performance EV's (Tesla). Lucid raised the bar and really need to go all out on advertising and letting people know more about their vehicle!

Since 2019, Lucid Motors is now controlled by the Saudis, so there's that.

@@antblanks Since April 2019, Lucid has been majority-owned by Public Investment Fund, the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia. When a shareholder owns more than 50% of a publicly traded company, then they can control it because they can effectively call all the shots in board appointments and shareholders' meetings. And it matters because of Mohammed bin Salman controls that fund.

Am I the only one is insanely impressed with the suspension? It has to be incredible to be able to handle the power!

And be comfortable, and handle well, it's a great suspension.

What an great absorbing video, I found what you were saying really interesting. Your description of handling (Jason C) painted an image in my head of the car being driven as if I was the driver. Loved the geeky tech stuff too. You guys should do more stuff like this again. Please can you do the Lucid Gravity when it comes out too??

These two should start a channel together. One Jason is the serious technical part, while the other is the silly crazy half.

Great video! I admire Lucid's engineering also, but I hope that the company survives long-term. They've got Saudi money keeping them afloat but that's not a good business model if you're not selling cars in volume.

This video was great. Loved watching you two talk. I think that if you can afford this car and want it, it's worth the price. Consistency is key. Cars may not have as many things to monitor but look at an airplane's instruments. Regardless of what is being measured, the unit being used, or what "normal" is, all the needles point up. If one needle is pointed to the left, you know at a glance something's wrong.
