When we moved into our ‘80’s home 8 years ago we did many renovations to the entire home and were also so excited that the basement was totally unfinished! We had so much fun planning and designing the entire space. I’m sure you will too! Enjoy the process… so many great memories for you and your husband to share ❤

The window in the wall next to where the dining table will be is an amazing idea, it looks like a painting and it will be so relaxing to study and eat there while looking out the window :)

ah, so exciting! I would LOVE a full budget breakdown. Our first house was new construction - I loved planning all the details. Now we're looking to move again and the next area will need remodeling of older homes. Any tips / tricks and budgeting plans would be amazing!

Home Reno videos feed my soul lol I'm loving all your choices. I can see what you mean about the bathroom and kitchen. But I think they will look even better with your renovations. Looking forward to future updates. :)

Makes me want to design a dream home in the suburbs, too! Although I would probably turn your dining room into an at-home yoga studio and meditate on the floor in front of the gorgeous window. I too hate carpets haha and will certainly be ripping up any future wall to wall carpets in my future home just like you!! They make me depressed lol , wood is more soothing

Lucy, how exciting to transform the house into your dream home. I'm presently surprised that the costs are more reasonable than I imagined they'd be. Also, I really appreciate the fact that your sharing the cost of the work with all of us. I plan to redo my kitchen and downstairs bathroom next spring, followed by my upstairs main bathroom after that. Would you be able to share the company that did the mill work on the planned office closets? Referrals from people who have had work done is very helpful. So far I'm loving the aesthetic during trying to create and definitely looking forward to the end results. BTW, my husband loathes mice too and if there is ever to be one in the house, I am the official terminator. LOL

I hate how many Americans are obsessed with dark wood and granite and sparkly tiles in kitchens. I think it will date quickly. You made the right choice to lighten things up.

So happy to go through this journey with you, and that you found the perfect house and that you're having such a good experience renovating it! To be honest is a little bit unexpected, because all youtubers that I've seen recently that bought and renovated a house, talk about how hard / complex / expensive it has been, and not enjoyable at all, many to the point that they've regretted the whole thing. I hope everything continues to go perfectly and can't wait for the final result! Could you please share in the end your learnings, what went differently than expected, and best practices? I'm sure these will be very helpful! ❤

I was wondering if you thought of trying to repaint the existing cabinets and hood in the kitchen? Have you watched No Demo Reno on HGTV? People should respect it’s your money and house so not give you any hate for it . Everyone has different tastes like you mentioned. It’s always nice if you can resell or donate items that are in good condition, like the countertops or tub ,cabinets, but you don’t want anymore.

Quick question: will you be undertaking any of the renovations yourself? A lot of KZbinrs pride themselves on this but quite frankly if somebody can do it better and professional looking - relieve your stress! Lol

It's kinda funny if people say you're taking away the character from the house...it's just from the 80s not the 1880s lol

To Hayah goes all the glory. // SHLM & HaB (peace & love). The Name of the Creator is Hayah asher Hayah, as what He told Moshah (Exodus 3:14), preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures. There is a curse to the G-o-d name (Isaiah 65:11-12), preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures. All followers of the Messiah are to do the 7 appointed times (Leviticus 23), but no more animal sacrifices, following the Crucifixion of the Messiah. We are now of the order of MLK TSDQ (King, righteous), to Whom ABRaHM tithed. Ask the Messiah to be your personal Savior. He said to him, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6). ...for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of Hayah (Romans 3:23). The wages for sin is death but the gift of ALaHYM is Everlasting Life through Messiah Yahushgh our Master (Romans 6:23). That if you confess with your mouth the Master Yahushgh and believe in your heart that ALaHYM raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved (Romans 10:9). He Himself is an Atoning Offering for our sins, and not for ours only but also for all the world (1 John 2:2). The Messiah died on the cross, & Resurrected three days later (presenting Himself as First Fruits to the Father). Please ask Him to be your Savior. He is the ONLY way to Everlasting Life.
