Eric is right, Lucifer unconsciously NEVER wanted to show Chloe his devil face or his wings, that's why when he wanted to show his devil face he couldn't. Lucifer always wanted to be a normal dude for Chloe. Lucifer knows that anything supernatural can make Chloe run away and that is something Lucifer cannot bear, losing Chloe.

The show her the wings though is probably the most common debate, I think Aaron is right except Lucifer doesn't care about her believing in the divine, he wants her to see him as he sees himself. Like if a friend wanted to confess a gambling addiction by buying you a car with their winnings, probably isn't going to get the point across.

I remember the first time I watched this episode I cried so much during the end when charlotte died and she got to go to heaven. And when Dan showed up, I just lost it all over again.. this show has the best music for those moments too.. it really touched my heart.. 🥺💔😢

I think the main point about the wings was that Lucifer didn't accept them as part of him. He saw them as a tool his father used to mess with him and all during season three the show reiterated again and again how foreign they feel to him. In his nightmare they were attached to him but he had no way of controlling them - they were controlling him. That's probably one reason why he didn't want Chloe to see them. But I think his main reason was that he just lacked confidence. He didn't truly believe she could accept him as the devil. It's easy to say I wanna show you my worst sides when you don't have the ability to actually follow through. He was lying to himself about that. He was afraid of her reaction.

@@mp6640 ya but after that he was under rebellion and spent almost a millennia in hell and he made his own identity and actually he spent more time in hell than in heaven so he thinks wings as a symbol of his dad and anything given by his dad is like a poison to him now and also @StellaTZH Lucifer was right about how scary his devil face could be to chloe because she was the one who disbelieved him the most like from season 1 and he knows she is way to practical about dealing things and she cant handle and i think that what happens in season 4 she messed it up a big time and was not able to handle .

My god might be the first time I've ever agreed with Aaron. Lucifer can't show his wings to her because he wants to tell her who he really is and his wings represents the opposite of what he believes himself to be, he doesn't want to lie to Chloe and he certainly doesn't want to falsely entice her with his angelic side without properly showing her his devilish side. Don't agree however with what he said about Lucifer caring at all about proof of the divine.

That they think of Souls in Hell as akin to hay on a farm! That they probably saw the same funny commercials and cartoons that I did, but not the same classical artworks in museums that I did. Lucifer never agreed to not show his wings, but it has been brought up that it's dangerous to show the wings because humans can't handle signs of divinity. Amenadiel said it, and so did Lucifer when he confronted that underground auction owner who stole the wings and didn't want to give them back because he had seen them and now felt so drawn to them that he said he needed them. Like desperate need. That was back in season 1, I believe.

Remember that one of the things that helps "get you to Heaven" is selfless self sacrifice. Charlotte pushed Amenadiel behind her with no thoughts for her own safety. I didn't enjoy season 3 but the last 2 episodes saved it for me and then going into season 4 is just great. Btw, the bonus 2 episodes they did for this season are really not necesarry to watch, they're average and don't add anything to the plot I would say just go into season 4 after the finale :)
