❤ I have loved Lucy since I was a very young child and I Love Lucy was newly on television. I was sickly and Lucy brought so much joy to my life. I am now 73 and she still brings me great joy. I especially loved her with Viv. What a wonderful couple of friends who played so well off each other. ❤I LOVE LUCY!❤

I'm 64 I grew up watching here's Lucy, Lucille Ball is still as funny in life with lucy this is the first time I've come across this Lucille Ball comedy. It's sad to find out she lost her life 3 years later. Lucille Ball once claimed to hear the radio from her teeth. I lost my mum 2 years ago she reached 93.

I was a teen in the late 80s and early 90s, and felt like a weirdo because I loved Lucy and nobody my age even knew who she was. Now as a late 40s man, I can say...Still adore Lucille Ball. She was a real trailblazer. I love anything with Lucille. Gale Gordon is also such a great comedic talent.

I've seen a few of these episodes it's too bad that it didn't make it very long. I Love Lucy in anything that she did. She is truly missed. I guess the rating was pretty low on this they couldn't keep it on the air. And I love Dale Gordon too. He and Lucy are so good together in shows.

She always had a deep-ish voice. She did her I LOVE LUCY voice in a higher register instead of using her natural voice. She felt the higher voice was a better fit for Lucy Ricardo.

This show was trashed by the critics but it wasn't as bad as they said. I think it needed work but most new shows do. ABC treated Lucy horribly. RIP

Her mistake was switching networks. She should have stuck with CBS who handled all her other shows and TV projects.
@joeburinskas8672Ай бұрын
@@devontehuntley6274 I wonder if CBS passed on this. Aaron Spelling produced Life with Lucy and he was in cahoots with ABC. If you watch the episode of I Love Lucy where they stop in Tennessee on their way out to California, Aaron has a small role as the hick who does a weird dance when the four are in jail...he wasn't cut out to be an actor.
@devontehuntley6274Ай бұрын
@@joeburinskas8672 Seems like Lucy shouldn't have gotten involved with Aaron. If it wasn't attached to CBS then no can do. I would have turned it down. The fact they just threw the show out there without a pilot to truly test the waters shows what little care they had and basically threw Lucy to the wolves. I get she had three hit shows under her belt and probably thought "Oh this will do just as good", but her last show was a mild hit and was twelve years prior. Lucy was much older and times had changed by the 1980s. They really should have done a pilot to see if it the show would truly work in this fashion and how the cast members acted with each other and overall (and some of them weren't really good). Then they could have made changes and replaced whoever they needed to and perhaps this could have had a better shot.

Great theme song, but otherwise... Lucy unfortunately clung on to her old comedy format which did NOT work with septuagenarian characters. It would have been interesting to see her play a "Golden Girls" type of situation (which this show was directly competing with on Saturday nights.)

The only part of this worth watching are the scenes with Gordon and Lucy.... their chemistry is always there, no matter what.
@devontehuntley6274Ай бұрын
As much as I love seeing Gale Gordon banter with Lucy once again, I don't think he should have been involved. We saw his chemistry with her play out across two shows already. This was getting tiresome, but Lucy did an interview on set of this show saying she wouldn't have done it without Gale so I guess we would have to let that slide. I didn't like Lucy being single once again. She should have been married, perhaps to Gale's character. The show also had too much to juggle with its casting. Their acting seemed flat and overall were underutilized. This needed to be more like the shows of the time, better casted, not too many characters, and not retreading so much on Lucy's past shows and perhaps this could have had a better chance, especially if CBS had this rather than ABC. I never got why they switched networks this time around when CBS handled all the other Lucy properties. Overall, I liked the show but can see the flaws and what could have been done different. But far from being one of the worse shows out there as many have stated.

The cast, with the exception of Gale and Audrey, look like they walked in from a different failed sitcom pilot. It has the appearance of being shot on hi-def video, which gives everything a "flat" appearance compared to film. Someone said during filming the first episode the studio audience was hysterically laughing. They believed it was another huge hit., but the audience was just happy watching Lucy perform live. Also, the entire cast seems on edge around Lucy, like she was being her dictatorial, bossy self with the directors and crew.

The theme song was the best thing on this series. Unfortunately it was a sixties style show in the mid 80's. Just didn't work.
@PhilAlumb6 ай бұрын
I disagree. It Lacked the Energy of the 60s sitcoms. By then, most of the writers & producers of that era Retired so.....this 80s show relied on Less Talented people Who tried to Imitate, Unsuccessfully, a previous era.
@devontehuntley6274Ай бұрын
It didn't work because Lucy was simply too old and many people didn't care to see her do her cliche slapstick at an old age. I liked the show and wished others could have too, but I can see why it failed with others but they shouldn't dismiss this as being SO BAD because the potential was there. The comedy was still on point. However, if they done a show more grounded with Lucy-ism sprinkled here and there (rather than making this entirely like her others from the 1950s-70s) this probably would have done better with the new audiences of the time and the older ones. Also the other cast members needed some tuning because their acting came off rather rough and they should have had more storylines. Seems like Lucy and Gale was taking up all the screentime and the others were reduced to backgrounds mostly.

People talk about how bad her show was but it actually wasn’t that different from Here’s Lucy circa 1973-1974. The big difference is what American audiences expected from a sitcom in 1986. Here’s Lucy was noticeably dated when it ended and nothing had changed in 1986 when Life With Lucy premiered. ABC was very foolish to expect this type of show would be successful in 1986 and should have vetoed Lucy’s attempt to push this as acceptable. It wound up costing ABC and Lucy a failed show.
