I absolutely love my pin down Exotic. Obviously my angles can't get very steep, but man does it continue through the pins the correct way. Going to compliment it with a pin down Eternity Pi here real soon.

I drilled a VEBO like that. I took the shine off and redid it to a fresh 3000 abralon … it’s a killer. I also did an Absolute the same way … it’s really good on higher friction surfaces, wood in particular.

Great video as always. Yes just for the heck of it. I would like to see a pearl ball pin down. did you already do a video with urethane pin down?

Have a layout like this on my black widow 3. I can usually stay in it all 3 league games by just inching to the left every few shots.

I am planning on going pin down from now on. My style is stroker and my speed is around 11ish to 12mph, the only time I speed up my throw is on dryer conditions. Not sure how much revs per minute I have, never have recorded in slow motion with tape on my ball to figure out the revs. Let's just assume I have lower revs with slower speeds, will pin down work better for my style?

My primary ball is forge fire pin up, then as the lane starts transitioning I switch to my vintage rhino pro gold (newer version) pin down

What about drilling Harsh reality pin down for THS?
@wingracer16149 ай бұрын
In my opinion (and Radicals) pin down asyms are ideal for slow speed and rev guys. That didn't used to be me but I'm 50 now and my wrist doesn't work like it used to. I still have OK speed and revs, I'm not pathetic yet but even so, pin down on those kinds of balls has been great.

I'm curious how a pin-down layout would look on an OG Reality. I have one I haven't punched up yet and so I'm open to options.

I agree with drilling a strong asymm pearl/solid/hybrid pin down to tame it for a house pattern. To get that type of driving power through the pins, but a bit more controllable. Harsh Reality pin down please. ❤ 🎳

Also, I am curious in your current arsenal and the entire collection. Do you still have the exotic gem and the original original GEM?

Pin down means the holes are placed into the "top of the core" which in effect shortens the height of the core and reduces the differential, the flare, and the overall hook potential of the ball. A pin down layout (drilling into the top of the core) causes the core to tumble "end over end" and remain tumbling longer before the ball seeks to migrate into a roll. This type of layout moves the reaction further up the lane and makes that reaction more mild overall front to back.

I have a few hot cells and the pin down one rolls best for me on a house shot. Down the 10 board

That last number (70) is confusing me. I have an Idol with the last number at 50 and its very smooth, control shape that's great. So I didn't think going above 50 would work, thought it would leave corner pins. I think I'm confusing the first number with the last number. I though 90 on the first number does what your 70 on the last number is doing.

I drill all of my symmetric solids and hybrids with pin in the ring finger for best of both worlds and extra control... I drill pin up and to the right of ring finger for symmetric pearls. Maybe a good followup topic for this video is the pin down difference for asymmetric vs symmetric... Radical has some good videos on these differences too and I've gotten similar advice from my best pro shop guy. Less is more for score and keeping angles in front of you and will make you more consistent from league to tournament action when conditions are harder and flatter.

One thing to note also is that just because it is pin down for you it might not be for someone else. All depends on their PAP.
