I feel like the narrative about Lukaku is completely wrong. You immediately saw the difference he brought in our squad, he did what Batshuayi couldn't do in the first two games: keep the ball and create space for the wingers to run into. There was also a lot of talk about our centre backs being to old but I think overall they were in control of the three games. For me the tactical decisions and some individuals lost us the tournement. I find that Witsel, Meunier, Carrasco had horrible games: Witsel was slowing down the tempo by taking no risk in his passes, he looked like a shadow of himself. Meunier just couldn't play a right pass or cross and I have no memory of Carrasco doing anything memorable (ever?) or putting in the effort to defend with the team. I think the dicision to keep these players in the team was wrong, even Hazard who (in my opinion) was a usefull player, should've have never started started. But I also want to shed some light on two players who impressed me but sadly didn't get the opportunity by Martinez: Jeremy Doku and Onana, Trossard, Openda. I'm glad that Martinez took the responsibility to leave the team, I hope that some players have the gut to do the same.

Bruh that doesn’t matter. He’s a striker. He’s supposed to score goals, and he should’ve put in a goal for sure with those chances. Lewandowski would’ve. Overrated footballer, and inconsistent. Someone you can’t rely on. This isn’t little league football, guy plays with the best clubs on earth with the best coaches day in day out and still plays like he doesn’t even know how to score.

The hard truth is that Belgium was unlucky today, it was an all or nothing situation and Lukaku just couldn't handle the stress. I love Lukaku but he could have scored an hattrick today and didn't. We didn't went out today, we went out of the WC when we lost to Marroco

Lukaku changed the match. The first half we were really bad and had no one upfront to create the shots. Atleast he was getting in the right areas to create the shots. Was unlucky!

Why though? Martinez achieved 3rd place in 2018, knocked out by the eventual winners, France, and QF in 2021, knocked out by the eventual winners, Italy. Belgium have been fine under Martinez, the golden generation hasn't been wasted by him at all, it was only ever wasted by Wilmots. Martinez has done exactly what was expected from a golden generation of a small nation. And as for 2022, coming into the tournament the squad was a shell of the golden generation, they were never going to achieve anything, and tbh I'm surprised they were even that close to getting out the group

A year ago Spurs offered 60m for Gvardiol but Red Bull rejected that offer so I think prize is around 80-100m at the moment. I can see him going to Chelsea or City and MAYBE Liverpool (depending on takeover).

The slander of Lukaku has altaria motives , Chelsea England based. They had no chance with out him he's clearly not fit. Munier, vatuongen ,aldowiereld Witsel dandonker over the three games where all much worse than Lukaku. Trossard should have started in his preferred position from at least the second game. Martinez was woeful from squad selection (unbalanced) captain appointment - hazard is talisman at his best. Yet the focus is on Lukaku ? The only really guilt edged chance was one against his chest.

Gvardiol: the lcb upgrade arsenal need to win?... Seems like a really nice fit to me but whether funds allow would be thr only sticking point, not that arsenal are paupers and they have room on the wage bill. City just isn't right with the options they already have, Chelsea seems risky as a player, are bayern after a cb?... It just seems like theres a gap for an unlikely candidate to sneak him in. A pairing of saliba and gvardiol for potentially under 100 mil seems like UNREAL business especially as that's a potential 10 Yr partnership if all goes well. Mb it's just me, I don't think its likely, I'd just like to see it and I think kt makes sense for all parties.

who honestly thought belgium is gonna do well ? when they were at the peak of their power in 2018 or smt they were never convincing they looked good sometimes but they were never dominant and thats when they were all in their peak ....now they have hazard starting who cant get a game against spanish b side teams ....u have lukaku struggling the last few seasons since his move to chelsea u have kdb who seems like he mentally checked out u have 35 37 year old defenders with pretty old midfielders who were average to good back in the days but now they are just a few years older i dont even know if ppl really thought they gonna do something i mean the best achievement would've been gettting out of the group thats the best they could've done honestly, they still have dries mertens playing at 35 years old i mean its fine having older players but if u have no younger player who is playing then your team just old it needs a complete rebuild at this point for the next international tournament at least

Gvardiol would be a perfect fit at Chelsea. With an aging Azpilicueta who looks to be past his good days, an inconsistent Cucurella who can’t defend to save his life, an injury prone Fofana and Thiago Silva who seems to be a little under the pace of games this season, Gvadiol has a certified spot in the squad for the next 6-7 seasons. A back line of Gvadiol - Koulibaly - Fofana would be good for the next two seasons max. Chalobah can then be phased in for an aging Koulibaly. That’s just the perspective of a frustrated Chelsea fan. 🙂😔

Yes Lukaku missed several good chances, but this was only game Belgium was somewhat decent as well and he had a hand in that. Martinez being fired is fantastic news but it happened about 10 years too late... Martinez managed to hide his complete lack of any quality behind a golden generation who basically did all the work without any coaching skill / support from Martinez. With a real / talented / knowledgeable coach we could / would have been world champions in 2018 and / or european champions. Our next generation is not bad but nowhere near as good as this one was, our chance is gone.
