There's more to this song than most know. I liked Luke a lot. He struggled and went thru some awful things when he'd disappear. Mostly by his own doing. As a fellow traditional musician and going thru similar struggles myself. Like also losing my dad at 21. So I can truly relate and know what feeling lost and going thru hell is like. Rest easy Luke.

I honestly had not heard of him, but I have now, and will listen to more of his music. I was sadden when I looked him up to see who he was, to find out he had passed away. I lost a dear friend to a heroin/fentynal overdose five years ago and my heart is still sad. And, than to find out he was only two months older than my daughter. I grew up listening to my parents listen to classic country music and can't stand modern overproduced country. I only came here after hearing of news of Luke's death, such a pity, because what I found here was a live stripped back song with a rich classic vibe, something modern country is lacking. Sincerity. @@VinceW2003 no it's not shame on you you didn't hear of them because his songs are boring and bland with generic lyrics he wasn't some big star that was transcending the game. So no not shame on you dude I can't stand you people that act like this when an artist dies like I wish I would have heard of him before he died he was such a genius his music was so good no it wasn't just because somebody dies it doesn't mean their music's any better people are just curious about the person who died like me so I go and listen to a song terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible song country is already bad enough as it is and this guy hasn't helped it so everyone here needs to grow the fuck up man for real lol

Anyone struggling with addiction or mental illness can relate to the lyrics of this song. RIP Luke. You were one of the good ones. Will always cherish the music you created during the time that you were on this Earth. I wish that you could’ve found your friend in the mirror more times than not. It’s a crime that such a wonderful songwriting performer’s mind was also burdened by mental illness. Taking solace in the fact that though you are no longer here, your burden is lifted… Of course, wishing that it could’ve been done so in a way that kept you here with everyone. 😞
