@@AEMoreira81 It was late. He makes the initial commitment to the hit after Kubalik relinquished possession. The whole "2 second rule" thing some people try to throw around when a hit like that happens doesn't exist. He committed to a hit on a player without possession, interference to a tee

Not sure I'd call it late, but he had an angle to go shoulder to shoulder that he passed on and had his arm raised through the hit which makes it a bad hit. He had the chance twice to avoid head contact in that hit.

In the past 5 years or so, this is usually a 2 games suspension if the player has no suspension history. It fills all the checkboxes except that Kubalik didn't seem to be injured on the play and that is the only attenuation factor that might let Schenn get away with it.

Very reminiscent to Aaron Rome on Nathan Horton. He dug his skates into the ice after the puck was released; and thus, it's not committing to a hit. It's starting a hit after the puck is gone.

The amount of time and space in between rome/horton was much larger than the amount of space schenn covered. Schenn also kept his elbow down through the hit. He didnt extend and finish as high as rome did. It's close but it wont be anymore than 1 game I believe.

Yeah, no defending this one. Hit was late, decided after the puck was gone to go for it aka he wasn't committed prior and could have avoided it, I don't think the head portion was intentional but he still made contact. As a TBL fan, Schenn needs to sit a couple for that one which sucks cause he's been playing well lately.

Looks like Rome-Horton hit in the finals. Rome got the equivalent of 12 regular season games (4 games in the Stanley Cup Finals). Then again Dominik Kubalik doesn't have his dad in the front office for disciplinary action (Colin Campbell at the time), so I don't see Schenn getting anything close to what Rome got in 2011.

That hit was late and to the head. That is a play where Zadorov doesn't get or deserve an instigator. I'm just really tired of seeing clean hits that lead to a fight and the instigator doesn't get punished. If the hits clean you have no reason or cause to insert yourself into a play you weren't a part of with the sole purpose of fighting. Obviously this is a play that 1. People in this group have no idea how hard it is to throw a big open ice hit WITHOUT making zero contract with the head. It happens so fast at that level. All it takes is the player who is already leaning forward to move slightly and a hit intended to be all shoulder also hits the head. This rule has gotten ridiculous. Schenn has always been a clean hitter. But when you lead the league in hits every year the odd one will go bad. Secondly, Kobalik was admiring his pass.. Thats a major NO-NO at the NHL level.

Not sure where the Elbow people are talking about is. His elbow dosent make contact with his head, you can clearly see that from 2 different camera perspectives. He was going for a shoulder to shoulder and he caught the head. A dangerous and High hit no doubt but I dont think Schenn was trying to decapitate him here
