OMG - I came across your channel by accident - and I am so glad that I did. Hubby and I travelled to HK and Macau multiple times over our professional career. macao is portuguese influence......you are right - so no chinese or cantonese type of food - so expect very greasy and neither portuguese or southern chinese........is better you ask a local for the real thing or some food history influence. The portuguese tarts you ate are sweet in portugal and in any place you go.....maybe they forgot the sugar in the dough - but people do not complain....... real cantonese food you will find it in Guangzhou or in Hong Kong......Canton was located in souther mainland china what is now called Guangzhou....dim sum is very cantonese you will not be disappointed, the soup dumpling was created in Hong Kong.....
