Thanks for the series. I had always heard about how the pros condition a lane, but never really understood how that worked until this series.

That was your best video ever. Very helpful to see your strategy and thinking process while you are showing us. Also the 2 different lanes. Great to see. Thanks so much.

I'm really happy with how it turned out, I expected it to be pretty good, and sometimes things are hard to see on video, but this ended up being super clear.

@@LukeRosdahl, watching it for the 2nd time. Some of its over my head as I only play league but its giving me ideas how to utilize the 10 minute warm up better. And it's helped me understand how one team we play all the time composed of tournament players, what they are doing.

Also really blown away by how much that one ball has such different reactions on both lanes.

This is perfect. This just what I have been looking for. I wanted to do this last year but I'm the only one that throws like this on my team so it was a struggle to try this then. looking forward to the following video. You are greatly appreciated. Thank you

This is a great explanation. We were told this from someone before the last open. Only part of the team attempted to prep the lanes, and the other team on the pair weren't assisting, so we ended up with a horribly conditioned set. For singles/doubles we made a more conscious effort to condition the pair and we all bowled much better - I even cashed. Working as a team is so vital to prepare the lanes, and if you can get the other team to follow suit the better everyone's scores will be.

This is fantastic. I had heard of this concept of lane conditioning last year before my first Nationals event, but without watching someone do it it's hard to completely understand how it's done. Unfortunately I may not be able to bowl Nationals this year due to the delay and my tight school schedule.

It's possible lol . . I actually work on reducing the transition on house shots because most of the time they start out good and get worse, I'm going to make a video on that actually.

Great video. Only thing with me is urethane doesn’t work. I may eventually practice and work on that though 👍
@LukeRosdahl4 жыл бұрын
Urethane didn't used to work with me either, and despite not bowling on this stuff much, I still decided I needed to learn how to throw it.
@briancayko6 ай бұрын
How can this be applied to singles tournaments where you move pairs. Any videos explaining those conditions?
@LukeRosdahl6 ай бұрын
It's completely dependent on who you follow unfortunately, it's so much of a crapshoot that there's really no way to lock anything like that down or have any control over it or any kind of strategy
@coopergates96804 жыл бұрын
If a non-urethane fan uses a short pin CPrime or ProMo, would it have little enough flare to be a carry down ball rather than midlane burn ball, so it is kept inside 4 at the break point and used for making shims? Congrats for demoing and talking through this. Last couple tournaments I bowled in were singles or doubles and saw people instead hurting opponents' lines by playing deep early.
@LukeRosdahl4 жыл бұрын
I would think so as long as you don't open your angles up too much.
@bryanmelton36754 жыл бұрын
Would spare practice help or hurt the practice breakdown. For instance, instead of waiting for the ball return, pick up plastic and throw. Either at the spare or in a "zone" on the lane?
@LukeRosdahl4 жыл бұрын
Depends on the strategy. Urethane or plastic straight up 10-15 to create a shim is viable too if you're not actually going to be throwing urethane. Build the shim in practice with most people, while a couple work on the track, then throw reactive and continue to work on the track throughout the first game. We found that a blend of urethane and reactive gave us the best look from a scoring perspective while continuing to build the transition during the first game.
@davidslager54444 жыл бұрын
What surfaces does your team put on their urethane balls. 500 or 1000
@LukeRosdahl4 жыл бұрын
Whatever box is, usually 1000 for urethane.
@nickt55894 жыл бұрын
Hey Luke just curious. I do a lot of individual tournaments. Could you do a video or reply about how a person should play a pattern themself. Should i try to line up on a cliff naturally there from the pattern? Or should i try to breakdown the pattern in practice myself?
@LukeRosdahl4 жыл бұрын
Depends on the tournament and lane conditions. I'm going to do one on house patterns too eventually, but if you're moving every game, you're going to waste your time conditioning the lane, and help everyone else out behind you. I've got a few things I'm trying to work on, but some are kind of hard to show on video. Just luckily the team pattern is SO distinct that it showed up really well for the video.

Luke Rosdahl Thank You, I appreciate the reply
@garlandoverton7274 жыл бұрын
Now the question will be how would this strategy break down for a lefty
@LukeRosdahl4 жыл бұрын
Garland Overton I’ll take a look at that too but it’s pretty simple. It’s 100% shape control and making shots on the left
@thatloudCG54 жыл бұрын
I did exactly what Luke said to do except I was by myself. I used 2 balls at 500 grit in practice and threw them both in tandem so I wouldn't have to wait on it to come back. Once I had the pair where I wanted them, I changed to a Phaze, jumped in to about 17, and started working. It was pretty gold after game 1.
@garlandoverton7274 жыл бұрын
Mike Garcia so should this be a rule of thumb for break down
@thatloudCG54 жыл бұрын
@@garlandoverton727 give or take, yes. I had all the bumper and bounce left of 10 that I ever needed and all I had to do was just get the ball there.
@sadboisonly10044 жыл бұрын
Have you tried other balls like the P2 and P3, Idol, All road, etc. To have other options to bring and maybe edge a ball out for something else?
@LukeRosdahl4 жыл бұрын
Sad Bois Only Those are all too strong or too much shape. All Road doesn’t have enough core. For super high speeds or lower rev rates, stronger stuff is an option, but if you can’t get an IQ Tour to hook on the team shot, you have bigger problems lol
@sadboisonly10044 жыл бұрын
@@LukeRosdahl I'm surprised the phaze 2 doesn't go for team that's why I asked

Do all these concepts work on sport shots in general? I’m doing my first sport shot league this fall and if I could do this I would feel so much more confident.
@LukeRosdahl Жыл бұрын
Yep, there's a general way to attack most sport conditions and this would definitely be helpful.

Left handed version coming?
@LukeRosdahl4 жыл бұрын
Probably, don't have any urethane lefty yet so it might be a while. Pretty simple idea on the left though, 100% shape control and making shots. Simple idea, pretty tough execution.

Thanks for this, can’t wait to share with other people I bowl with. Heading to a tournament (hopefully) in 2 weeks on a 7:1 - 43 foot - 26ml pattern.. would this idea be good to implement there as well? Or is the ratio high enough to just go for it without conditioning?
@LukeRosdahl4 жыл бұрын
Depends on how it plays . . basically, if the reaction you want isn't there, you condition, and if the look is good, you want to preserve it as long as possible.
@Brian_B3004 жыл бұрын
Luke Rosdahl Fair enough. Only talked to one guy that has bowled on it and he shot 2180 for 9 games. Said he was always around 15 with many ball changes, matter of finding right one for that moment. We got 10 righty’s with majority that like to play more direct... fresh oil for start of every shift with a re-oil between singles/doubles.. Hope I can get everyone on board after showing them this. Thanks man

So what if you are the only Lefty on a 5-man squad
@LukeRosdahl4 жыл бұрын
Life is going to suck lol . . all about shape control. Urethane for the high rev/low speed crowd, reactive with a lot of surface for the high speed/low rev crowd, and making shots. Simple concept, tough execution.
