😂😂😂 definitely gon be a mod. I think it’s a toss-up between the mod getting deleted or ignored. Mfs also probably just wont care. Nobody cares if u use a mod to make changes. Now if it starts becoming a competition between canon Yasuke and modded Yasuke, then it might start getting controversial.

It's very strange. This is the game I'm looking forward to most... I am winding down my 30+yrs enjoying the hobby, and shadows seems to offer everything I wanted from an AC or ninja game. I don't see how I'll be disappointed given what I know. But that said, I don't intend to ever purchase another Ubisoft product, so my support here does not change the fortunes of the company long-term. And having enjoyed the hobby for so long, it really is just a situation where the industry has peaked for me. I don't want or need to spend more on it. I have my dream games, and little time to enjoy them. I've not felt this way before, so I'm hopeful this'll stick. I mean my last bug gaming purchase was an oled monitor from yesterday... so I can only hope lol.

It's a shame to see one of the great gaming companies fall so far, but Ubisoft does NOT deserve a fluke. They do not deserve to succeed by the skin of their teeth, because they have made too many mistakes, and they should pay for every single one of them. They're grossly anti-consumer, they're too bloated as a company, and they have chased every BAD trend in the industry. If Ubi is to make it out alive, it needs to be "in pieces" by the end, so they can shed the bloat, and keep only the good stuff.

LOL meaning the good stuff, from the company point of view, hence the owner, would be the stuff that earn money, aka several of their live-service games and big brands with microtransactions enabled. Let's review them : Rainbow Six Siege, AC, FC, probably Just Dance at some point, and The Division at the fore front. Well, all of these games and franchises earn a shit ton money digitally with their slew of content. And obviously, a Tencent influenced board won't spent any significant money releasing lower financial optic games ( Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, etc ) especially when they need to become a more reliable & stable company. That's worse than the Guillermot era because, no more smaller and risky games.

Honestly it is mind boggingly spectacular in and of itself that Ubisoft has fumbled this consistently. I would never have honestly thought it possible that a tech giant could crater itself to such lows in such a short span of time. I mean: NFT game, doing nothing with Clancy brand, predatory MTX practices, detachment of single player games, games released buggy. The list just goes on and on. I used to believe that a company can sustain itself just from the sheer weight of its customer base and the few mtx games that they do have. So the fact that Ubisoft has pretty much gotten to this point is just crazy.

UBI is like that restaurant that spends all their effort into everything besides the actually quality of their food. Their presentation/vibe (world design), their cutlery (game world assets), the space/number of tables (scale of world), their furnishing (beautiful set pieces), their variety of meals (multiple gameplay mechanics), their marketting (impressive trailers)...but the actual food and customer service (gameplay and monetization) is at best painfully average ! This results in a slow death over the years. There's only so many times that you can enjoy a really good looking and comfortable restaurant before you eventually stop going there because their food just sucks for the most part. The restaurant can keep apologizing and giving discounts everytime, but unless their food increases in quality, they will never retain enough customers to stop them from bleeding out. What's worse is UBI actually has the talent and resources to make their gameplay at least above average but for some reason, they seem to think most gamers care more about how a game looks and virtue signalling more than the actual gameplay. And while it's true that there are gamers who care more about that, it's a minority and you can't survive in any industry catering mostly to a minority of your fanbase, who probably don't even enjoy games that much and probably never get passed half of your game. It would be like a stake house choosing to cater to their vegetarian customers more than the rest. Like i personally don't enjoy games like Darksouls and Elden ring, so if the devs started listening to me and changed this franchise to cater to what i like, they would lose most of their fanbase and for what ? Cause even then i wouldn't suddenly like the franchise enough to invest in it that much.

I was late to the PS3 & PS4 console gens so I wasn’t in a position to buy AC games day 1, but I did play almost all of the games in the series (apart from AC 1 and Revelations) all the way through before Origins. I played Origins and Odyssey day 1, and Valhalla about a month or so later to play it on the PS5. Shadows will now be the first AC game that I’m going to intentionally not buy at launch and wait to purchase at a steep discount. Not because of the issues some people have with Yasuke, etc, but because I’m tired of the way Ubisoft has decided to monetize these single player games with their in game stores. I’m so skeptical of this “Animus hub”, I don’t really care at this point if they say these “battle passes” they’re going to have are “free”, because I know with Ubi that if you give them an inch they’ll take the mile. I want to want to support Ubisoft so that they can work on maker better AC games, but with their current monetization strategies I don’t trust them to make the right decisions for the franchise. So I’ll wait to give them my money at a discount.

What a lot of people don't see is that, yes Valhalla sold well and make them a lot of money, but it also damage their reputation a lot. First they really hit the right tone with this game, Vikings was in hype, the big C was there and a lot of people play more. But Valhalla also have a really bad finish rate, and not because there was so much cool game, but because there was a lack of it. You have this Territoriale Quests and they are overall OK, but they wanted to sell you stuff, so they make the grinding for Upgrade material extrem boring and it take extreme long time to get from one point of the map somewhere in nowhere to the next point. And than not every chest had material or the right material. And they did it to sell you full upgraded gear in the ingame cash shop extreme heavy overpriced (for one Armor set ~1/3 of what the base game should cost). And this turns off a lot of people, cause they make this game mechanics worse only for the purpose to force nudge you in the cash shop in which you can buy time saver by skipping the upgrade process, power cause some of the shop Items have shop exclusive Perks, early access to weapon types like one handed swords and of course style. I mean just imagine Fromsofware would make all somber stones much more rare and take out the bells what make it possible to purchase the somber stones with runes. Than they make an ingame cash shop with all weapons full upgraded, and take half of the weapons (of course just the strongest) out of the game to make them shop exclusive and Katanas are all shop exclusive only one not and you just get in in the Haligbaum (of course you can also buy it). And in addition they also sell every armor set but with increased stats and lower weight. This is what UBI did with Valhalla. And people notice this and it really turns off a lot of people, and they did it clever, cause they make it a progressive system, as longer you play as more it make a difference. And we know Shadows is supposed to be the moste monetized AC game yet. And we all also know that the primary reason for the Animus Hub is to add layers over layers of monetization to this and all upcoming AC games and remakes (and this will also be the main reason why they remake this games to implement it in the Animus Hub to monetize the games for years to come. So yes Valhalla make them a lot of money, but in the same time they push people away, and they really push hard. So a not small group of people are not interested to buy any new AC game as long as there is an ingame cash shop in the game, because if there is a shop this means there are game mechanics in the game make worse for the purpose to force nudge you in this shop. I think they trade short term income against long term interest in their games. Even if the game will be the most polished and the gameplay will be the best imaginable, if there is an ingame cash shop or new with the Animus Hub FOMO passes - I am out and will not buy the game no matter what. With the boring as Hell and even longer grinding in Valhalla and the time gated grinding in Far Cry 6 they show me they really hate everyone who is not willing to buy the full price games and than throw a multitude of the game price on top at them to skip their anti player mechanics. And I don't support developers who show me so clear that they hate me. They literally pay people to figure out how they can squeeze the maximum of money out of the players by game design. This is extreme disrespectful against the players and they have the audacity to assume that we will buy another game with such predator monetization scams? I don't think it will reach Valhalla level (as far as they did not get some really strong Whales who buy just everything), my prediction is it break even but just so. And on PC they will monitore your RAM permanently when you run the game... in addition to Denuvo and the Animus Hub and UPlay... yeah no thanks this is way too much.

Honestly, even if I am a big fan of a couple of Ubisoft IPs like PoP, Rayman, Splinter Cell, etc.. by the way, I am replaying the original Rayman trilogy on my phone, the fan project "Rayman Redemption" is really damn good. Well, I am honestly hoping Ubisoft implodes, they only established the absolute worst standards in the videogame industry for at least 10 years or so: predatory monetization on fully priced games, blatant recycling of assets, lack of creativity, focusing on producing Assassins Creed like a factory line instead of promoting creativity as they used to be, the death of Rayman and Splinter Cell (and basically killed PoP Lost Crown right at the get go, just disastrous marketing), etc.. they deserve to implode to serve as an example for the industry. You are not forced to pre-order, buy DLC, season pass or whatever the hell, to keep supporting Ubisoft hoping that someday Splinter Cell will return, etc.. nope, just refuse to buy their shitty products, they will be forced to either adapt or go bankrupt. Capitalism has plenty of flaws, but one of the rare good things about this system is how the market "heal" itself by following the consumer demands, we control the market, don't you ever forget. The fact Ubisoft and Blizzard are imploding after so many years of shitty anti-consumer practices and low quality products, this should be celebrated, other companies will try to take their place, this is a win-win situation for the consumers, let the Marvel Rivals and Path of Exiles 2 serves as shining examples, do you want to stay afloat and lucrative? I won't lose a wink of sleep if ubisoft goes under, they made their own bed. Some other studio will come along and scoop the valuable IPs. It won't be the end of Tom Clancy or assassin creed. Considering how Ubisoft has not shown 10 minutes of uninterrupted gameplay tells you all about how stable the game is and how it actually plays. They have all these lofty explanations of how the game is, but none of it is really shown. There's an "exploration trailer" which showed like 5 sec of gameplay then cut to another 5 sec of gameplay. It was pathetic. It made me think their most recent stable build had no working AI or quests or scripting or anything. Remember the olden days of AC3 gameplay demo that showed that awesome Frontier section where Connor climbs the trees and infiltrates a fortress and runs after that one guy he's there to assasinate? It was so hype! But now, all we get it "We have animations", "We have a feature!".

But based on Ubi’s recent fiasco with Skull & Bones, Outlaws, and Yasuke controversy, it’s gonna hit lower than Origins and Odyssey, and it’s gonna be more Syndicate and Mirage numbers.

Ubisoft will never learn. They wanted an unfinished product to be released back in November. They delayed it. They moved the release date the week before MH Wilds comes out. They delayed it again. They moved it to March and you’d think they’d finally learn their lesson but they decided to release the game on the same day as Xenoblade X. They had the entire month to guarantee sales and no competition but they shoot themselves in the foot by moving the release date of Shadows the same day as the only other anticipated game coming out that Month.

Ubisoft had a big win with XDefiant but they chose to not put more man power on to the project and instead let us slowly get drip fed crucial improvements and changes, nevermind the extra content we also wanted. Then they decided to kill it. All because of the seasonal bullshit. They had content for like 3 seasons seemingly ready to go. Them releasing that to allow us to play it was a huge eye opener on today's state of AAA games, because you bet your ass every game is in the same boat, with multiple seasons worth of content set aside for when the time is right instead of just letting us have it when it's ready. Today's state of the gaming industry is absolutely fucking dog shit. I've pretty much quit playing new games at this point, it's super rare that I get one, usually it's 6 months old when I play a game if I do choose to buy one, right now I'm playing Dying Light 2. Got Forbidden West, Dead Island 2, Rift Apart, Diablo 4 to play as well, all of which are virtually ancient.

Just take out yasuke and I’d consider giving it a chance if it turned out decent. It’s not racist to say I wanna play as exclusively Japanese natives in a Japanese setting. I don’t know why that’s so hard for them and other people to understand. I don’t care if he existed, a Japanese game should have only native Japanese protagonist. Altaïr, Ezio, Connor, Edward/Adéwalé, Jacob and Evie, Arno, Bayek, Alexios/Kass, Eivor, they all fit their respective settings. A black dude in Japan obviously doesn’t quite fit.

It is racist. You didn’t care in “Nioh”, when a white man was the *only* option, so don’t care now when the black man is *optional.* Play as Naoe, the native Assassin, if it bothers you that much. All of a sudden the ethnicity of the protagonist matters lmfaooo These “people” think Yasuke’s mere existence as a SECONDARY, I repeat, SECONDARY playable character is a spit in the face to Japanese people and their culture. Nioh being the *only white male protagonist in feudal japan,* was just a “cool character” lmfao. Mf think just cuz he listed bayek he not racist, all it does is prove u dont want black people anywhere we not “supposed” to be at. If we aint in africa or wakanda then we aint supposed to be there. All this worldwide backlash over a damn option. An OPTION. Idc if they make him mandatory in the story *sometimes,* so what, it wouldnt even bother you if you wasnt the racist mf u are. If you wanna play exclusively japanese characters then go to ghost of tsushima. Since it do everything better than AC anyway, what yall complaining about Shadows for? Its gonna be trash to u regardless, go back to Ghost of Tshshima with alllll the native characters you could possibly ask for and just be quiet Don’t play the game, don’t ever touch it. For me the story will make or break this game one of my favorite hooks for AC WAS the dynamic between the past and modern day which has taken a backseat since AC4. I thought the Desmond story had so much potential and it just ended abruptly. And they have yet to make any of the modern day parts of the game interesting and I feel there's a lot more there that hasn't been explored. I think the Layla story they've been telling is absolutely insane and uninteresting. Shadows story already has an uphill climb with its protagonist's choice. And if any of the recent AC games are any indication they have continuously missed the landing with their main narrative. And no amount of delays can fix mediocre writing. Especially this late.
