I have the same huge problem. Organization is my nemesis. I love your solutions! It is hard to argue with success, especially when Buddy approves!

Don't worry, all woodworkers save every bit of wood. Building a lumber rack is one of the best projects for solving that! Keep up the great work!

Eric, I just discovered your book a few days ago. Good stuff! Started watching the full episodes of your show and stumbled onto this series. As an IT professional and hobbyist woodworker, I must say, I love your journey! Much respect with how you began your business working as an apprentice and also the respect you give to the craftsman (and women) of other disciplines that you feature on your show. Just started the chapter about French Broad Chocolates this morning. That hit home, as I live in Asheville! That place is about as addictive as buying tools! Come back and visit! Cheers!

I also have experienced pulling out a piece of timber only to create an avalanche! Love your idea for storing dowels - I’ll use that. Thanks so much for sharing and for your quality videos.

I just started making wood toys/ models and the scraps sure add up quickly so many sizes. With the price of wood I’ve been tossing them by size and thickness into clear plastic bins ( not the big ones) it amazes me that I’ll find a piece of scrap that will work. I like the dowel storage that I will build, thanks for the great tips!

Great storage solution Eric for the shorts. My rule of thumb is when the board is small as my hand, it goes to the burn pile.

Looks awesome! I love the little tote idea. I have a lot of small stuff too and wasn't sure a good way to store it if I went with the wood racks.

I have a similar situation in my shop. Only I have other stuff being stored there that is not shop related. Let the wife put one thing in the shop, and it is being overrun now. I originally built the lumber storage for full sheets of plywood, and hardwood boards, and it is mostly the cut off scraps that are still good for something.

Time to build another shop!! Haha. Always good to share space with the loved ones.

Your opeing shot is throwing the log on the wood stove. There is the first step to organization, get rid of the small peices that you really do not need. Patrick from Idaho

Once again you have come up with some very functional and creative storage solutions! Your totes are an awesome idea and the large bin on wheels is a perfect place for larger wood scraps! Your shop will now be a much safer and more pleasant environment to work in! I assume all improvements were Buddy approved! Hope you guys have a good night! God bless!!

I also like to use excessive overhead /exposed rafter studs to hang some things, especially things like x-tra long clamps, levels and such. Nice job, I am jealous.....20 acres and no shop........yet.

I would like to ask why you switched to the Bora racks and do you think they are a upgrade over what you had? I have the same racks you had at the start and generally I think they work ok with no complaints. I have read people say they are not strong enough for lumber but I never had any issues.
@CraftsmansLegacy2 жыл бұрын
Great question! Capacity was a concern but the angled design of the supports was a bigger issue for me. There is a lot of wasted space with those angled supports. I had the white rack system up for about 3 years. Hope this helps!

@@CraftsmansLegacy it does, thanks for the feedback and great job on cleaning up that lumber wall. It gave me some really good ideas.
