I trained my psychiatric service dog for PTSD and autism symptoms! He alerts when I am showing signs of panic attacks, provides grounding through deep pressure, and does very limited guiding (can find store exits and entrances, can lead me home in my neighborhood). It's so cool to see Luna and hear about her :)

Luna is such a sweetheart. I had no idea service dogs could help with schizophrenia! Now I kind of want to get a psychiatric service dog, at least once I can afford one, to help with my schizoaffective disorder.

The title makes it seem like Luna is the schizophrenic one and I love that

Much respect for weathering all of the storms so far 🤜🤛 and kissies for Luna, if she wants them.

This is wonderful. I'm schizoaffective, and can't wait for the day when I can afford a service dog. I had one for balance/mobility and chronic pain, and he improved my quality of life so much. My good boy was incredibly helpful for my mental health, despite absolutely no training in that area.

I didn't know there were trained service animals for mental conditions. That's super awesome!

I absolutely LOVED watching this and learning. I have zero affiliation with schizophrenia, but this was incredibly insightful. Subscribing to learn more and support!

This is actually wild, I never knew how service dogs could be trained to help people, but I think I understand better how they might be trained. I’ll definitely watch some more in depth stuff on it at some point. Thanks for this awesome video 👍

What happens once you are aware that you are hallucinating? Does it continue or fade out?
@sirdrum-a-lot Жыл бұрын
You're still active so I'll reply. It depends but usually if it's a person, they'll go silent and disappear once I look away. If it's voices, it doesn't matter if you know they're real or not. It's very surreal, you're not aware you're hallucinating most of the time.

My hallucinations can get so bad, it's tied with me being in public places. I get such bad anxiety. I tried to raise a cat but it was incompatible with me and had behavioural issues that I couldn't help alleviate.

I don’t hallucinate but one time my cats did help me. I heard a voice in the living room and none of them reacted in any way. Turned out one of them had turned on the voice thing on my laptop, so I guess they were also the perps 😂 Still, I was able to maintain calm because of them.

i’m guessing so, he’s a recovered addict and has mentioned it in other content

LSD can be very healing, it stopped me wanting to kill myself when I was suicidal. That said, as helpful as psychedelics can be, if you're prone to or suffer with health conditions like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, it can exarcetarbate your symptoms and make things worse for you
