Great video pal looks a lovely wee river for those brownies which is what I exclusively fish for up here in Edinburgh 🏴 can’t beat UL spinning for wild browns although I got a fly set up earlier in the season but yet to land a fish yet but I won’t give up like I have before 🤷🏼♂️ I really want to try winter fishing for pike n perch but only our lochs & reservoirs have em no rivers in Scotland that I’m aware of anyway 🤷🏼♂️ Take it easy & Tight lines ✌🏼💙🎣🏴👍🏼 btw that was great footage around 12:45 of the chase then take Rapala are deadly up here too & my go to Mepps Comet 👌🏼😉😁

This sums up pretty much the last 50 yrs of my life,,l always start on Good Friday,the bird sounds are exactly the same,l often see dippers too,just go a few times a year,river is full of trout,rarely if ever see anyone else fishing.Waders and spinner,l favour the black vibrax style,6 gm l like to snip one of the hooks off…..%Sometimes catch 4 or 5 in the same channel.I don’t revisit same area for 3 years….v similar to this river,with many weirs from the cloth milling days long past..Brilliant true to life video…you caught it very well my friend Greetings from Gloucestershire

They seem like all pretty decent sized fish, gorgeous markings n colours, I'm very lucky that I have the privilege to have a river about 10 minutes walk away that holds alot of trout sea trout and salmon seasonal depending and had some beautiful fish, pb wild brown 3lb 2oz and seatrout pb 5lb and many other fish over 2lb and considering it's not a huge river its almost exactly like where you are. We are lucky to have nature so beautiful and we get to fish 🐟 aswell!!

Brilliant Steve. Quick one. What do you use line wise for Trout? Braid etc? I use braid and a Fluorocarbon leader but hate the way braid tangles etc.

Great video Steve! Love the trout in that river and it’s where I’ve decided to start my lure fishing for trout, it’s been great fun so far. I went with the boots and waders and I can say they are great, didn’t spend a fortune on them but I can recommend the Wychwood SDS gorge boots and the Leeda/Wychwood profil waders 👍🏼 also get your Polarised glasses on if you haven’t already, they are a massive help in seeing what your walking on.

Good stuff Steve. Yeh I made the switch recently from my olde rubber Wellington boot waders to high quality stocking foot waders with boots....my god the difference is light and day. Can't recommend it enough if you are gonna chase trout more often. Also I'd recommend a shorter rod, think 4'6 or 5' it'll make a huge difference.

I recently was told to always hook your lure or spinner etc to the scaffolding of the eyes on the rod because the inner eyes made of porcelain and if you chip it it can cause no end of problems

I bought proper chest waders & boots this season what a difference I had the Shakespeare Sigma neoprene with the welly boots attached they lasted 5 years so worth £80 I also use a Shakespeare waist pack it’s perfect for lure fishing with plenty room for all I need still use a small rucksack though for a waterproof & water & stuff ✌🏼💙🎣🏴👍🏼

Glad ya found ya net.. it happened to me, if they get caught on somat the magnets just slip free.. its not a direct pull its a slip to the side.. I found mine but panicked as it cost me 70 quid and only had it a week lol. You best clipping it onto somat if have vegetation around you.

I am fortunate to live in an area with a couple of small rivers that have good wild brownie fishing . I mostly fly fish for them but do enjoy the odd day lure fishing for them ,great fun on a 1g-5g rod . I catch quite a few on the small paddle tail softbaits on a jighead, the trout seem to like them . Breathable waders with separate boots do make a big difference, especially with a lot off walking involved lol .

Thanks Stuart, personally I always use a wire trace and would never fish mono straight through. You’re pretty much guaranteed to get bitten off. There is an alternative of fluro as well, different strengths depending on if you are fishing for pike or perch. I try to match the strength of wire trace to that of my braid. Also try and get something that is 18-20 inches long and not the cheap short green ones 👍

@stuartparkes6791 high Stuart, I’m not sure why but it showed this comment to one of my pike videos and not a trout one as it shows me now, sorry. For trout I’m not too fussed using a trace unless there were pike present. I use 6lb braid as you can feel everything. Monk can be a bit too stretchy
