REALLY glad to see Zirda wasn't just... "hahaha basalt monolith go brrrrr" and was more like, Zirda was LITERALLY utility for the deck. The permanent-heavy build was really nice and super control-y, which was a solid way to run the deck and utilize Zirda when available.

Exactly how I love to build my decks! I always have a plan B. Stoneforge with equipments is the perfect plan B because she can be used to tutor for Conqueror's flail to protect your combo. I will be adding Diviner's Wand in the future though. -Mike

I think y'all thinking boros is the worst color combo wasn't bad, it was when Mike was able to just fuel his hand over and over with the Sword so I feel like it should've been dealt with by Folger's Freylise or some kinda artifact removal. The heavy targets on Folger were right to do but threat assessing cards could've been better. All in all great game and great vid as always!!

@@Olympian05 If the pact fizzles it does not have to be paid. If Pact of Negation is countered or otherwise doesn’t resolve (perhaps because its target became illegal), the delayed triggered ability that threatens you with a game loss won’t trigger at the beginning of your next upkeep.

I pulled 3 companions from my Ikoria prerelease - Umori, Zirda, and Kaheera - and I can't say I was that excited to build any of them. This game has totally changed my mind; that Zirda deck was so exciting to watch! Definitely gotta build something with that commander :D

People forget: Boros has some powerful cards. It just has some trouble drawing and playing them.

It also has trouble synergizing with itself. Just go to scryfall and search "whenever draw a card" under white and almost every card with an enchantress-like draw trigger for doing something triggers on something different every time. Some want enchantments, some want equips, some want small creatures, etc. You look at green and it's like "cast a creature, a creature enters, a big creature... exists." All of those can go in a deck together. The same can't be said for white and red wants to dump its resources in return for getting more so it's not much help either lol Boros (as in only multicolored) has leave // chance and heartwarming redemption. That's it. No more draw lol.

@@TheMightyBattleSquid Boros should have more card advantage when small creatures deal combat damage. Make a commander which give other creatures myriad and you will have a deck which is very much in boros theme (an army of many small creatures attacking) and could last the long game because of the card advantage. If WotC insist it needs to be temporary impulse draw make them exiled to the next turns end step. Within the existing mechanics it is not hard to make boros a viable strategy with its own flavour. I don't think it would help a lot in cEDH but that isn't really the concern WotC should be addressing first.

Wow. Zirda was impressive that game. A well placed anti artifact hate piece would have changed the whole game, but Kinna always seems to threaten a win out of nowhere. It was nice to see Boros do some work! Good games, y’all!

There was a slight rules error I think- Sword of Fire and Ice says "Whenever equipped creature deals combat damage to a player, Sword of Fire and Ice deals 2 damage to target creature or player and you draw a card" On turn 5, Mike hits Folger's Freyalise, and targets her (a planeswalker) with the sword trigger.... Don't know if this would have mattered but I was just upset to see my boy Kinnan being treated rough Great video anyway!

Everyone talks about Boros being the worst colour combination, but Selesnya does not really have a cEDH viable deck either XD (Selvala's ability is random at best and no one ever tried Saffi Eriksdotter in my personal experience)

Folger's pact of negation didn't have a legal target upon resolution so it fizzled and was countered. Folger doesn't have to pay for it in that circumstance. If the pacts are ever countered, you don't have to pay their upkeep costs.

I understand that the kinnan was under stax early, and targeted but that kinnan build is super casual with the big creatures strategy. It makes the deck way too reliant having kinnan in play. Def not the best way to use him. The best kinnan are the super fast combo off before the group can respond version
