Dacob, I was a brand ambassador for liquor company in my 20’s, one of the bartenders I was training at the time flipped my new LV messenger bag (the it bag in 1997) over a lit votive to get an altoid and scorched the entire front flap. The company I worked for did not hesitate, not only did they pay for the entire repair but were very sympathetic about the accident.

Worst thing that's ever happened to me and my bags at a restaurant was in Tuscany, we had just sat down at an outdoor cafe and were sharing a carafe of red wine. It was my daughter's first "legal" drink and within 30 seconds she had knocked her glass over and all the wine poured across the table half into my lap and half into my leather tote bag. I had to turn it over to dump the wine out, lol. Bag was okay, but my jeans were ruined. 😂 Congratulations on 60K!!! I'm looking forward to the unboxing! 😊😊

The video is short, I have the same bag as her in black and there's no way I could authenticate it based on that clip alone. But that's besides the point. I hope like you that she gets compensated and there's no way that I would have left the bag with them. This is why I won’t take my designer bags to Mexico 😢 I agree her reaction leads me to feel the purse is authentic … If that was one of my Louis bags I probably would’ve turned that table over to get to it!!! I’ve risked my own safety without a thought - when my speedy 25 was stolen in Miami, my friend and I chased the guy down on the beach to get it back … Not my wisest moment but one of my most victorious!

I live in the midwest and my husband and I were at a Mexican restaurant having dinner. I had my LV Neverfull with me. I went to the bathroom and while I was gone my husband said this man that was at a table across the room went out of his way to check out my bag, eyeing it walking by our table. My husband was on guard and the waiters (all Hispanic men) also noticed this man acting shady, also were on guard. The shady man realized he was being watched and went on. This can happen anywhere really. Luckily that man realized it wasn't worth the trouble, because he would have had to deal with not only my husband, but a bunch of waiters too lol.

I’ve never had an issue in Mexico. I’ve vacationed there for 15 years. It depends where you are but most tourist traps like that will pay you back after a hassle. The Mexico shade in the comments section is FFFFed up.

That poor girl her reaction leads me to believe the bag was not a fake. However you never leave anything for “someone else” to peruse & decide if they wish recompense you, especially in another country. What the dickens did the girl do with all the stuff in her bag, how’d she get her stuff back to her hotel or where she’s staying? Possession is 9/10ths of the law, what if they “authenticate” her bag then send her a really good replica? Would the girl notice? The fake bags are getting really well made these days. Plus if the restaurant just ignores her, litigating via a lawyer/attorney over a $2K bag is a little pointless as the legal fees would more than likely be the same amount. I guess lesson learned the hard way. I use a handbag butler but as you said Dacob yr friend had a “steak-away” flop into her purse so maybe even a handbag butler wouldn’t of saved that situation either. I really feel sad for that young girl it may of been a special graduation present or something she saved hard to buy for herself. I don’t watch Tik-Tok, it seems quite a vicious place @ times. Oh shoot. I'm really sorry for her. She seemed genuinely distressed about the bag!😖 That being said: that Scam with the destroyed bag happens the other way around in real life. Even experienced an attempt myself back when I supplemented my income as a Student as a waitress. A Lady came in, with her Partner and a Longchamp Pliage in polyamide canvas(!) that she kept cradling in her lap. They ordered two sodas. No kidding, the moment I approached her to serve her drink, she violently smacked her elbow backwards under my tray (for absolutely no traceable reason whatsoever) and of course her orange soda went flying. Most landed on the table, but a small amount found its way onto her bag (luckily not on the leather handle). She immediatly starts to get loud and rude, making demands about cash Money(!) for her bag. So glad my Manager had my back. He remained all calm and told her to fill out a form and take photos for the insurance company so that we could file the case with them, in case the bag needed to be replaced or repaired. She got all quiet after that and the two of them left in a hurry, because she knew she had no claim what so ever. The plastic fabric dried right down, nothing happened, despite her best efforts to make something happen to it🙄 Also...girl. Calm yourself. This is a hundred dollar bag that country bougie school girls carry. Screaming and an attempted shake-down about are disgraceful 🙄🤭

The way the server hold the tray though…no wonder the thing fell off. The thing is not also stable to begin with. When restaurants do this its like an accident waiting to happen. I also agree with the comments that you should never leave any of your valuables to restaurants they’re in food business and not in safekeeping of your belongings unless you know the manager or owner who can guarantee or you have some sort of evidence. Allow them to take photos or videos instead.
