Okay so I work in Dermatology so I love this video and your Chanel! Just a little educational fact, the “scar” people refer to after they have pimples are not actually scars MOST of the time. It’s hyperpigmentation that your skin gets from the inflammation of the acne lesion! They can take up to 6 months to fade, don’t get discouraged! Acne scars are actually indentations in your skin from picking a lesion to death. That’s all. Loved this video 💖

Thank you for this refreshing video, Hyram! I've used quite a few of the products you mentioned and I agree they are all very good and worth the money if your budget allows/you want to save up. The nice thing is that the products, while not cheap, are not prohibitively expensive or unrealistic to save up for. Sometimes it seems like skincare youtubers are looked down upon for using expensive products but personally I love skincare and luxurious products so I don't want to take the clinical approach to everything. Like, I'm sure my skin would be perfect if I just used all Paula's Choice or Cerave or another Serious Brand, but I enjoy the process of discovering and using new products too much! This vid is a great example of what to look for when considering an expensive purchase and what is worth splurging on.

That amore pacific cleanser was used on my at Sephora during their facial service in store and I loved it. Didn’t feel like a physical exfoliant at all. I will switch to this after my current dermalogica daily microfoliant runs out

My routine is very simple and affordable, except for my winter moisturizer. In the morning I just use cerave’s moisturizing cleanser and the ordinary’s natural moisturizer factors. At night, double cleanse w/ an oil and the cerave cleanser, rotate between the ordinary’s retinoid and a salicylic acid gel, and and for the one pricey item I use belif’s aqua cream. There’s some fragrance in it, but I’m using it anyways because it just works so well for my skin. I can’t find anything fragrance free that gives me the same results for my dry, dry skin. And I’ve tried soooo many cheap and expensive moisturizers.

Hello! Funny... it’s raining here today as I’m watching your video for the first time. I love the Tarte sunscreen. I apply it on numerous times times a day. Hah. Tip: I put the PTR eye patch in the fridge. The SK II is great! It is a little pricey like you said. I have to try the patches. I have cystic acne due to hormones and nothing has helped. I heard that Rx Accutane will help but that has crazy side effect while taking it. Don’t want that. Thanks for the great input! Waiting to see your next video!! Chow

A good place to get the SK-II essence is at Costco if you are in the US, the 11oz bottle is (I think) $189, instead of $300-$400. And AmorePacific products are sooooooooooooooooo fragranced. Like, jesus christ. I don't mind a little fragrance, but their products smell soooo strong.

I know this is an older video and you probably won't see these comments anymore BUT if you do see this, try the Pineapple Powder by Good Molecules ($16 on Beautylish) and see how it stands up to the Enzyme Peel. It sounds exactly like the Pineapple Powder and I absolutely love that product, I see instant results just like you see with the Amore Pacific Peel. My skin is smooth, soft, brightened, and refreshed. I use it 1-2 times a week and the bottle last forever. Love your videos!

I second Hyram's statement about SK-II: you really don't know how good it is until you stop using it! The Pitera Facial Treatment Essence is my HG! I personally don't find the formula sticky, it absorbs into my skin really well and I don't feel like there's any residue sitting on top of the skin - just to provide another perspective for anyone interested in trying it.

Heidi Z Many reviews say the applicator is terrible! Some people complain of cakiness on multiple applications. I use the Derma E powder which seems to be okay but I really want to try the Tarte!

Heidi Z I am as well. The Derma E is pretty good colour-wise, but can look powdery if not applied carefully. Brush on Block and Colorscience are great but expensive! These are all translucent, not white so *hopefully* you’ll be okay but if not, Brush on Block and CS have a tinted versions as well.

The SK-II Essence is (IMO) the epitome of classic J-beauty products. They tend to be “slow-burn” items you need to use over time in order to experience its benefits. I’ve been using it over the past 1.5-2 years (I tone and then shake a little into my palm - NOT A COTTON PAD - and pat it into my face) and have experienced overall softening of the skin, deeper hydration, and (less obviously) a more even skin tone. The effects are SUBTLE, which is why it’s hard to justify shelling out for these types of products. When so much on the market offers immediate/quick payback, the high cost for this makes it a hard sell for most reasonable skincare consumers. My advice for anyone considering the brand’s pitera products is to try the gel pods first, which are cheaper and can be used little by little over time (one can last quite a few days if you’re cheap like me!). There are also travel bundles that contain 75ml of essence, which lasts a surprisingly long time.

We need an updated version of this video concept. We know you don't buy into hyped up luxury skincare, but some of us enjoy luxury skincare when it's actually quality product and has good ingredients.. also a dupe for the amore Pacific enzyme powder because I love that one and the tatcha rice polish. They're luxury products that I NEED and can't find a good dupe. That and the sk-ii pitera essence. Also the tatcha water cream/the silk cream and the sulwhasoo 1st care activating serum and cosme decorte liposome serum I have not found anything CLOSE to a good dupe for the ingredients in those 😔🥺 they're SOOOOO EXPENSIVE, but SOOOOOOO good!

I’ve used it for a year now. Totally agree with Hyram, it’s amazing. If it helps, you actually get a lot of product for your money and you only need the tiniest bit. Mine lasted the whole year with twice weekly use.

Have you ever used Shiseido or other Japanese skin care brands? I would love to know what you think of their ingredients lists. I never really knew anything about skincare, but when I noticed my first wrinkle starting to form I freaked out and bought the first anti-aging cream that had good reviews online that I could find. I normally don't splurge, but since I didn't know anything, I figured that $$$ = quality.... I got the Shiseido Bio-Performance "Advanced Super Revitalizing Cream" and it actually has seemed to rejuvenate my skin and even out redness and alleviate dry spots. I notice that whenever I apply it, the affects are most prominent about 2 days after using it for some reason. However after using it for half a year, my skin went from very oily to a bit dryer (I guess it's considered "normal" skin rn so maybe I shouldn't complain lol), and I'm not sure if this cream is causing it or if I'm just getting old. Other than this one cream, I have used the Shiseido Urban Environment Oil-Free UV Protector SPF 42 Sunscreen which is light but leaves a little white powder-like residue, and then I just cleanse intermittently with dead sea salt water or glycerine soap, and once in a rare while with an Ursa Major face wash. Geez this basically became like an essay but I was really mostly interested in your opinion about the quality and ingredients lists of Japanese skincare... how does it compare to Korean?? Is the Chinese skincare market much different?? All of your videos about Korean skincare have made me want to try one of those products, maybe something with snail in it :o

I have used both the SKII and Shiseido White Brightening essences and actually prefer the Shiseido. Hyram will probably disagree because the primary difference is fragrance ( SKII doesnt have fragrance and is a little funky, shiseido smells like you are walking in a grove of blooming cherry blossoms on a spring morning)

I found your channel recently, you are so young that of course you still do not use heavy duty stuff like retinols or glycolic acid, but here is my skin care (I have dry skin), you can consider some luxury: -Makeup remover: Micellar water by Sephora (gotta change did not notice the fragance). -Cleanser: Cerave hydrating facial cleanser. -Moisturizer: Clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion. -Sun screen: Eucerin Sun fluid anti-age SPF 50 Only use at night (each one separately on different days): -Tretinoin 0.25% by Janssen (only found at pharmacies) -Glycolic acid (I can't remember the brand, but only found in pharmacies)
